Middletown is a city located in Middlesex County, Connecticut, along the Connecticut River, in the central part of the state, 16 miles (26 km) south of Hartford. In 1650, it was incorporated as a town under its original Indian name, Mattabeseck. It received its present name in 1653. Middletown was included within Hartford County upon its creation on May 10, 1666. In 1784, the central settlement was incorporated as a city distinct from the town. Both were included within newly formed Middlesex County in May 1785. In 1923, the City of Middletown was consolidated with the Town, making the city limits of the city quite extensive.

Had lunch during a recent day trip to Wesleyen University. The atmosphere is urban/industrial and is family and kid friendly. We went in expecting typical pizza shop fare, but found a complete Italian menu with something for every appetite. The food was delicious and the portions are huge.

The prices seemed a little high for what you got. All meals are over $10pp. Seating is outside, so hopefully the weather is good. I believe most of their business is run through take out. The take out area is indoors, but there are only a couple of tables to sit at. If you are coming with a group, there is a lot of seating outside, but this will only work well in warmer months. Service was slow. Came here for lunch and there were not many other tables, but service was still very slow.

For years, I have lived just a few miles from this gem but never stopped there. Finally, last week, my wife and I went there on a whim, no .....a raging desire for one of their steamed cheeseburgers. So, we made our way through the crowd waiting for a table and secured places at the counter , right across from the pass through window to the kitchen. Getting down to business, I looked through the menu, searching diligently for my cheeseburger. Nothing. Only Breakfast. When I asked the waitress, she smiled and said, " Only thing we make on the weekend is breakfast. " Really !. So when in doubt make the best of it. And we already had a great breakfast ( I know....I made the omelettes...) . After researching the offerings, we discovered the mini raspberry pancakes with whipped cream and homemade raspberry jam. I spiced it up a bit and also had sliced andouille sausage on the side. WOW ! Now I know why folks love this spot. We are returning soon, though, but during the week so that I can get my cheeseburger. BTW, just a hint, don't be tied to eating in a booth. The Counters offer another perspective. Yes, we made a mistake and loved doing it !!!

Very new restaurant. Only opened for about one month
True to my word, it took less 2 years, actually 50 days, for me to make a return visit. There was no bananas Foster French toast on special so my wife ordered the French toast with berries that proved to be very good, but not OMG great. I checked out the specials board and the display case gravitating to the Spanish tortilla that was made with kale, bacon and potatoes. The tortilla and accompanying romesco sauce was by far the best I have ever experienced. It came with 2 slices of toast and home made jam, a virtual steal at $5. Will we be returning in less than 50 days? You can bank on it even I have to crawl.

Red Fox was the venue for our January Guys Night Out Group.
Red Fox has a great selection of dishes. Given the size of our party and at Jasmina’s suggestion we had some of our cuisine family style. Well prepared, plated and scrumptious would be the best way for me to describe.
Afterwards Fico, the chef-owner came out to our table to introduce himself and thank us for coming in.
I’m all about the food and personal service and they exceeded our expectations.
We will definitely be back! Thank you Jasmina for making this night so much fun!

Middletown's first and only gastropub ... featuring 18 beers on tap and a dynamic menu designed to tempt every palate. (Kitchen open LATE: Sun-Thr til 12:00am and Fri-Sat til 1am)
Meet friends at the Celtic Cavern for dinner, after flying in from Florida. The corn chowder was very tasty,as was the beet salad appetizer! Had the double bone porkchop with fried rice that I totally enjoyed. My dinner companions were very satisfied with the selection of craft beers. Wait staff were attentive, reviewed the dinner specials, making us feel welcomed. Great food , drinks and atmosphere , way to go Celtic Cavern

First time here, two couples, the other very familiar with Lan Chi's, we were newbies. Very nice dinner. Nice drinks at bar, very-very-very friendly owner makes sure all is well. Shrimp rolls and shrimp tempura very nice appetizers. My wife says her meatball noodle Pho was as good as any she's had, and she's a Pho expert. I enjoyed the lemongrass beef very much. Reasonable prices too.

We apologize for the delay. Bread & Water will remain closed until further notice while we continue to rebuild. Please continue to check our website for updates.

Thank you,
Chef Carl
A great addition to the Central CT dining scene. Four of us dined together and were able to sample the bulk of the relatively small menu. Everything was wonderful, including the wine list and the beer selection. Particularly impressive were the gnocci, the venison carpaccio, and the pork belly.

This is one of my favorite lunch spots for work or friendly lunches. The food is delicious - especially the garlic knots! The prices are good, and it takes just long enough to have a nice conversation without dragging on. I've dined in, taken it go, been with one other person and up to groups of 12. Every time the service is consistently good, the prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious.
