Most Popular Restaurants in Memphis

Memphis is a pilgrimage for those wanting to visit the birthplace of the blues, of soul and of rock 'n' roll. On Beale Street, W.C. Handy put down on paper the first written blues music. Elvis, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash all recorded at the historic Sun Records, which is now a museum. Graceland, the second most-visited home in America, welcomes visitors from around the world who yearn for a peek into the life of "the King." Beyond the music, Tennessee's largest city also offers much more. It has more sunny days each year than Miami, and combines southern tradition and hospitality with modern amenities. You'll enjoy great dining (be sure to sample the barbecued ribs), art galleries and exciting nightlife.

Flight a full service restaurant with multiple dining selections for a guest to enjoy in a single dining experience. The service style of the restaurant is the finest service featuring a knowledgeable wait staff from which the customer can gain valuable knowledge to enhance their dining experience. Flight offers several distinct dining options: On the main floor, there is the hustle and bustle of friends and businesspeople gathering together. The bar is a welcoming place for those dining alone to meet friends yet unmet, or for those who want a quick bite. On the balcony level, the booths and small tables, some overlooking Main Street, offer more privacy and an opportunity for romance.

Unique menu concept which allows one to try multiple entree items, different wines ( eg. a series of 2oz glasses x3 ), and assorted desserts. Bourbon taster flights also available.

For dinner I would suggest either a single main entree or 2 smaller plates in combination ( as 3 is probably too much ).

Service and food are impeccable. You likely need a reservation.

Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken

At Gus's we're all about the food! Gus's restaurants are low-key with a southern flare where you will hear soulful classics emitting from the jukebox. Many people call Gus's a "blues-infused southern eatery." At Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken we focus on the chicken! We begin by using quality chicken which is treated to our special preparation techniques before being marinated in our proprietary batter. Once it's properly fried to a crisp golden-brown, we serve it up with a plate full of southern inspired sides and a cold beer or sweet tea. The result? Customers line up at our door before we're even open!

When in Rome.....so we tried this style of deep fried chicken and it was remarkably good...a little too much coating for my liking but got my husband's tick of approval! Staff were friendly and accommodating.....all in all a good experience and good value for money too!

Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen

Took our son out to celebrate his graduation from college and ran to at least one of his classmates at Andrew Michael's. Located away from the city's busy center, the restaurant is elegantly appointed and the service is excellent. Our waiter suggested the Chef's Menu (a sampling of five dishes that paired each dish with its own wine), which my wife found irresistible. It was a pricey proposition, but we was in the mood to celebrate. And, indeed we celebrated! W tried a variety of dishes and the wines were all excellent. Normally we skip dessert, but not here. We had a wonderful meal, and the final bill though sizable was not over the top.

Cozy Corner

Reviewed By RLloyd992 - Jacksonville, North Carolina

I too, was lured here by the rave reviews. People were saying this was one of the best barbecue places in Memphis! I regretfully disagree. The appearance didn't bother me. Some of the shabbiest looking places have the best food.

My family ordered a variety, because we wanted to taste it all. We ordered ribs, wings, sausage, sliced pork, coleslaw, baked beans, and potato salad. The ribs were boiled! And drowned in a vinegar based WATERY sauce! It had some char on them, but any barbecue enthusiast will tell you that those ribs were NOT SMOKED and probably were transferred to a grill simply to sear!

The sliced pork tastes weird. We couldn't place what cut of pork it was, but it didn't taste good. Again, drowned in watery sauce.

The sausage and the wings were just ok. With, again, sauce drowning out the meat for the sausage sandwich.

The sides were sides. Can probably find the same ones in the deli aisles at your local grocery store.

So very disappointed! We were excited because of the reviews, but we were fooled.

Positives: the dining area was clean, and the tea was good.

Try it if you want, but I wouldn't waste my money here again.

Terrace At The River Inn

Terrace is the perfect location for dinner with handcrafted cocktails, uninterrupted river views, and unmatched atmosphere.

Reviewed By bryansW5058DP - Memphis

My wife and I visit the Terrace frequently and consider it our favorite restaurant in downtown Memphis. It has a full bar and a tapas menu, including delicious lamb sliders and a full-size salmon (or steak) meal. The Valentines Day meal was special, including shrimp and grits.
The greatest strength of the Terrace is its commanding views of the Mississippi River. Weather permitting the windows are retracted and the view is open-air —this is spectacular in the Spring and Fall. You can even cross the street before or after dinner and get a close up view of the river.
The service is excellent.

Bryant's Breakfast

Reviewed By mjlarivi - Bartlett, Tennessee

First time to visit. O my! Maybe twenty people in line the whole time my wife and I were there having breakfast.

Tons of tasty, fresh, cooked to perfection thing reasonably priced. We split a sampler platter. Good grief! Three scrambled eggs, hash-browns, three huge biscuits, sausage patty, country ham slice, pork chop, bacon slice, bowl of grits, country gravy, orange juice, coffee, and water. It was more food than the two of us could eat.

The people poured in non-stop. Wonderfully polite and professional staff, server was as nice as she could be. There may have been four or five cultures represented in the clientele.

What an absolutely wonderful experience. Gotta go again.

Food, family and community best describe this hidden jewel in Memphis tucked away in the heart of the University area, and known as the best breakfast in Memphis. Bread, biscuits and pastries are baked fresh from scratch every day.

This is a great locally owned restaurant that serves a fantastic quality, reasonably priced, big portioned, breakfast. Coffee bar was a delicious addition since we had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. We enjoyed our Juniper Lattes and our conversation with server making them. I love a good biscuit and I could of made a meal out of them with just some butter! Yummy! Everything was fresh and quick. Great service all around!

We visited the Majestic Grille for brunch during our trip to Memphis. We made reservations ahead of time, but at 10:00 on a Sunday, you could get in without them. We were quickly seated and ordered the majestic mimosa (pour your own mimosas from a bottle of champagne). We were also served biscuits while we waited for the food. The biscuits were delicious! I ordered the filet Benedict and my husband ordered the crab cake Benedict and we shared. Both were good, but the crab cake Benedict was my favorite. The Benedicts come with breakfast potatoes, and we also ordered a side of cheesy grits. I felt that the potatoes were greasy and I didn’t love them, but my husband did. The cheesy grits were fantastic! I would definitely come back!
