Plowboys BBQ

We visited at the urging of our college student grandson for pulled pork sandwiches for lunch. This isn't a sit-down establishment unless you sit down outside on a picnic table. It's a drive through that looks more like a modest house. They don't emphasize frills, just the food. The food's not fancy, it can be a little sloppy but a person doesn't come to this place for ambiance or pretty presentation. There's a reason it's so popular with locals of all ages. It's reasonably priced, you get decent portions and it tastes good.

It's for these people whom liked to partying, drinking alcohol and smoking inside that business building. Very rude and foods that I have tried are all over it were ashes on them from greasy BBQ chicken outside of that grilling all burning up black nothing leftovers of meats.

We were driving across I-70 and wanted a local place to eat dinner as opposed to a chain restaurant. This is about 10 minutes north of I-70 so we almost didn't leave the highway but decided to give it a try anyways. Although the food is typical American fare, the restaurant was clean and quiet, the service was excellent, and our food was great. Everyone loved their meal. The kids got Mickey Mouse pancakes with strawberry sauce, and the adults got the gyro platter (great), a patty melt (great), and the Sunday special which was a piece of fried chicken with ribs and 2 sides (excellent). We were very happy we decided to stop and found this place. Thanks trip advisor!

China Inn

We were pleasantly surprised by the great variety of dishes on the menu. The wait staff are courteous and attentive making this a perfect spot for an enjoyable dining experience. They have delicious hot tea to accompany your traditional Chinese meal, which on a cold day is quite comforting. I had the shrimp with lobster sauce which has an elegant taste, and is a generous portion. Appetizers are generous portions too. There's something on the menu for everyone, even picky eaters.

We went here for brunch before leaving Marshall. Ordered the fajita combo for two which was amazing. Fresh taste great size ans sizzling hot. Guacamole was fresh and tasty. Beans and rice just as good. Our son got a combo plate but did not enjoy the ground meat. He will order itch the steak next time. The only negative was the chili relleno which was cold and had an unpleasant batter. They also need to make a spicy salsa as the salsa was extremely bland. The chips were fantastic. We will return. Maybe try a margarita next time. Yum

Applebee's was convenient for our first night's dinner in Marshall since we were staying at the Comfort Inn just across the parking lot. We've had a range of experience at various Applebee's around the country and in Canada from lousy to great. This one falls in the middle. The food was OK, not outstanding but I'd say a little above average (for Applebee's). Our waiter was friendly and helpful, no complaints. But, there was not much of a greeting when we came in. We had to stand there and look lost for a while to get someone's attention. So, that was the main knock on this Applebee's that differentiates it from being above average (for Applebee's).

This restaurant caters to the college kids from just up the street at MVC. It bills itself as a pizza and Mexican-ish (Guatemalan?) restaurant and is also a watering hole. We had pizza both times (buffalo chicken, spinach and mushroom) while our grandson had fish tacos. They didn't look very appetizing to me (nor very big), but he likes them. The pizzas were pretty good, I thought, since the crusts were on the crispy side and not the doughy pan pizza type from Pizza Hut. It gets pretty busy in the evenings with inside and outside seating. And, since it is a watering hole, it can also get noisy. There are TV's and a dedicated bar area. The seating is basic, but nobody seems to mind. We had prompt service on one evening and slow service on the next. So, I don't know how it is on average. It's not real cheap but is still reasonable.

Rolla's Kitchen

Reviewed By goatiegoater - Lido Di Camaiore, Italy

When I was growing up in Marshall, Paradise Doughnuts was in this spot. Now, I can come here to enjoy some tasty international dishes I've learned to appreciate from traveling. Being a non-meat eater, but still eating fish, Rolla's is the perfect alternative to eating at home. Everything I like is on their menu. I had the privilege of enjoying their Baba Ghanoush with a generous portion of warm pita bread and for dessert a buttery rich Baklava. The people here making the food and serving it are some very nice folks, helpful and cheerful. I will have to go back again soon to try their hummus and Swai fish, maybe a falafel appetizer as well.
