Manistee is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 6,226 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Manistee County. The name "Manistee" is from an Ojibwe word first applied to the principal river of the county. The derivation is not certain, but it may be from ministigweyaa, "river with islands at its mouth". Other sources claim that it was an Ojibwe term meaning "spirit of the woods".

We had a very large group drop in for dinner! Our server, Larryn, was amazing!!! Our food was served hot and he took care of all of us--almost 30 people!! The all you can eat fish was raved about by my friends and the ice cream for dessert was a hit!! My hamburger was good but the potato salad was FANTASTIC!! I wanted more more more!!

Goody's is actually pretty good, however, the prices and portions are hardly worth the terrible prices. I do enjoy supporting local businesses, though.

Blue Fish Kitchen features Great Lakes Fish and locally sourced meats and produce in a beautiful, historic 1895 building overlooking the Manistee River. In summer we feature dining on our deck. Open year round we also have a fun and relaxed bar, or a romantic dining opportunity in our fine dining room. Our second floor banquet space is available for meetings and parties. If you arrive by boat, we provide courtesy dock space and we can cook your catch. Our cuisine is farm to table and chef driven, we do not deep fry, but instead choose to allow the favors of the excellent ingredients we source to stand out on their own. Our bar features craft cocktails, an extensive wine list and Michigan craft beers. And if you still have room, we create all of our family recipe driven desserts in house and fresh daily.
A lovely place to have something to eat. Overlooking the river and the river walk. It has such a fine menu and many specials. Eating outside at this time is so long belt. I highly recommend this.

We walked in to about a quarter full restaurant/bar and waited to be seated for over 20 mins. It's a small place, even a little claustrophobic, but we were told by locals to check it out. Still not sure how no one greeted us or could even say hello let alone invite us in or seat us. Seeing as they were not busy I don't understand where the workers were. There was one guy behind the bar who noticed us and repeatedly looked at us, But never said anything to us. Again, small place. You wouldn't even have to raise your voice to welcome us or tell us to take a seat and disregard waiting to be seated. We ended up leaving. Pretty upset. Really weird experience. A couple on the street asked us how it was as they were getting ready to venture inside. We told them don't bother, we just stood there for 20 mins without so much as a hello. Thankfully some locals were able to recommend another spot to grab a bite and it ended up being great food.

Ice Cream Shop
This is just like any ole Dairy Queen...They offer all the typical dairy queen eats/treats....
The location is not the best as far as long lines and not a lot of parking. Its on a corner...so you are stuck waiting in your car in the street if they are busy...which of course upsets drivers...They do have a walk up window...
I went on a Saturday night...and the lines were long and the wait was long once placing my order as well...
Three of us order blizzards and the first one was overflowing, the second one was normal and the third one wasn't to the top...

The Painted Lady is located in Manistee, MI it is the oldest operating saloon in town. The bar and tin ceiling are original from when it was built back in the late 1880's. When Bob and Linda Venne bought the building in 1994 they turned it into The Painted Lady Saloon which is now well known for their broasted chicken and award winning home-made soup. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner plus a full bar from open to close. With a wide variety of food to choose from it's the perfect stop for a good meal and a little bit of history.
Even though we are quite familiar with Manistee, we had never heard of this place. Chicken was delicious, although it took a long time. We heard the waiter explain that they don't have enough room in the pressure cookers when they get busy. The salmon was not good. We'll be back, but we'll stick with the chicken...

The iron works café is a division of the Manistee community kitchen. This non-profit restaurant is designed to offer locally sourced foods to provide a more sustainable food system in our county. It is also designed to provide healthier choices in Manistee by addressing sodium and chemical contents (preservatives/fillers), fat content and appropriate portioning. Our mission is to positively affect hunger and obesity in our county. We organize and supervise the farmers market and grow food to fill our food pantries at no cost to them. We have a Pay it Forward meal voucher program and provide garden space to residents of Manistee city in order that they may grow their own food. We realize there are many lofty goals in this mission. So far so good. The biggest part of what we do is education! We want people to know and understand that healthier choices mean healthier lives!!!
Small, unassuming diner run by a NON-PROFIT organization with the goal of bringing healthy, local food to the community. Example: instead of fried potatoes, we had a (not fried) vegetable hash with our perfectly spiced pumpkin pancakes. Coffee was also exceptional (I'm fussy about coffee).
Staff all very friendly and happy to explain the philosophy and management of restaurant.
Diners have the opportunity to buy $5 or $10 vouchers which are distributed to needy people in the community by the board and which can then be exchanged for soup and beverage ($5) or sandwich and beverage ($10) at the restaurant.
Food and service were great and we took pleasure in supporting the community.

This place has always had great pizza and subs. However, the counter (where you order and pick the food up) and the kitchen are quite chaotic. The reason being is that none of the ordering and pick-up process is automated (no touch screens at all). All they have is hand written sales slips and a little calculator. Also, quite often they have to roam around the kitchen to find your order.

The Fillmore was envisioned, designed, stocked, and staffed with one mission in mind to inspire local love, to invigorate downtown Manistee, to preserve the past of this beautiful place and move it into the future! Our dream was born from a love for beach towns in Northern Michigan, historic buildings, and a passion for great, fresh food that can be enjoyed with family and friends! Our place is authentic. Our unique restaurant located in historic Manistee was, originally built as a tailor shop and ice house in 1896; the maple floors and brick are real and original, just like our food and drinks! Weekly, we procure the best beers from around Michigan and you can find them on draft! Along with an ever-changing selection of wine, craft cocktails (primarily made with Michigan spirits), and locally derived espresso. We strive to provide an unforgettable guest experience to each and every customer – every time.Visiting The Fillmore, in downtown Manistee, is an experience not to be missed.
So glad we checked out this new restaurant in Manistee over Christmas. All of the flatbread pizzas are marvelous. My son loved the slider platter and the Dirty Blonde Fries are incredible! The breading on the fries was light and delicious.
I highly recommend the Huron Fields salad with maple glazed chicken breast.
The specialty drinks are excellent.
We had great, friendly service!
