Jebs restaurant is the unsuspecting surprise of Lowville. It looks like a little hole in the wall but is a bar ,and three giving areas nicely decorated . But the surprise here is the good quality of food and great service. Prices were lower than expected . Huge ribeye steak for les than $20. We went for breakfast and the amount of food was more than enough ,so we returned for dinner .

The best ice cream in Lowville hands down!! I had a small hot fudge sundae with the peanut butter ice cream. Absolutely delicious and huge. My boyfriend had a classic swirl cone (with rainbow sprinkles), he was also shocked with the size and impressed with the flavor. We will definitely be enjoying their ice cream throughout the summer.

I normally love Dunkin' Donuts but the one in Lowville, NY is terrible. There were flies buzzing around while I placed my order.
The donuts (I ordered a dozen) were dry - I ordered 4 glazed, 4 headlights and 4 cinnamon). Service wasn't good either. Never again will I stop there. We came from NC to visit family and I was shocked.

Stillwater Hotel

I was here three weeks prior o my last visit. The service was good and the meal was better than average. Not many people there, first trip. My guess this makes a huge difference. Plus it was during the week and not a weekend

So my girlfriend and I were having friends over for the weekend. We decided to go out for a nice drive and dine somewhere. So the first place i thought of was the still water restaurant! It was great the first time, why not then. So we traveled over the mountain and finally arrived there.

The four of us went in,had to wait to be seated till someone recognized we were standing there waiting. They seated us and i noticed a big group on the porch having cocktails. The young waitress came over and asked us what we wanted to drink, said one special,we then asked if that was all and she replied yes. The big group came in and sat down, The owner waited on them, Our drinks came,we ordered our meal, just as our waitress left,we heard the owner tell the group of all the specials going on an there were six of them, not one like we was told.
Two people in our group ordered clam chowder,it was real cold, not even warmed a bit,My french onion soup, the cheese wasn't even melted. The other was a toss salad which was good.
So we sit waiting for our food to arrive and over heard the owner saying they ran out of mashed potatoes and offered french fries and something else in place of them.
So we wait and wait and wait and wait. Oh,i did not mentioned the owners knew the whole group of people personally! Well i was fit to be tied when there dinner started to come out of the kitchen with our waitress helping to serve all of them......really,we ordered at least ten minutes prior to there order going to the kitchen. Oh it gets better. About ten minutes later our meal arrived. My girlfriends chicken plate was cool, Three if us ordered mashed potatoes with our prime rib. Well two of got a baked potato cut up and the other was burnt home fries from the morning that was left over i presume! So i tell the waitress, she goes back to get a new order an comes back saying there mashed potatoes an has an argument with me about them. I ask her how come they do not look like our two then....No answer, walks away an mumbled something. I asked her what she said and she said they were mashed potatoes. I just wanted to get up an leave but everyone was hungry and the nearest place to eat was at least a 45 minute drive. We ate the prime rib, which was good
The owner heard everything,we told her about the soups, the mashed potatoes and how bad her waitress was. Her reply,we didn't have to pay for the two clam chowders and her young waitress started three days ago... i mean really!

The owner then should've been over seeing everything she was doing. The big thing is,WHY did the big group get served before we did?? She let her personal friendship dictate over her business...NEVER should this happen. Treat all patrons as a friend!

I will never go back.I was embarrassed i bragged to my friends of this place and to be treated and served like this, inexcusable!! I have never felt this way at a place to eat.

If you do decide to go,go durning a week day,my best advice and good luck!

Prompted by acceptable Trip Advisor reviews, we stopped for breakfast on a recent trip. Arriving at 7:30 am we found our own seats.

Our waitress was at our table in minutes and was warm and efficient.

Sausage, eggs and home fries were good.

The restaurant has room for about 10 at a counter and 40 at booth/table. Everything is clean and in good repair.

Ample parking area is off street and about 150 feet from the from door.

Liked the eggs best. Liked the coffee least.

I have been loving Jreck's subs in basically the same location in Lowville for 30 years. Their bread is absolutely the best - always fresh, and the subs are always delicious. They do all the right things. I now live 350 miles away, but I always make plans to have Jreck's when I am back in town. They are absolutely the best subs anywhere - be sure to get any sub with mayo, oil, vinegar, oregano and parmesean cheese - you'll be hooked for life.
