It appears like it would be quite rowdy and noisy in the evenings but we stopped at 5 pm on a weeknight. Although there were a few people having a drink at the bar we were the only diners. They have mostly large tables set up so it seems they may get large groups in.
The waitress was very pleasant and our food was good and not too overpriced. It's not the kind of place we might normally go but at the time we went it was great.

Pulled off I-5 because of a sign for another restaurant, saw this place, gave it a try; I'm glad I did! I selected a breakfast of eggs, hashbrowns and a ham steak. Got a cup of really good coffee from the self serve station, selected some reading material. The food showed up fairly quickly, and I was in awe of the size of the ham steak that occupied about half of the plate! The eggs and hashbrowns were done perfectly, and the ham was to die for! Don't think it came from CostCo, had a deep smoky flavor and was very tender. Actually couldn't finish it, took it with me for a snack later in the day. The waiter/owner was very friendly, asked about my plans for the day, cracked a few jokes. All in all, an extremely pleasant dining experience. Went back to the I-5 feeling good!

I-5 exit 712, north of Shasta Lake.
I’m sure the cooks here have many goals and passions, but one of them must be making the best pies humanly possible. To me, it rivals Marie Callendar’s best efforts. And that’s Marie’s main business. One of the cook’s husbands brags about his wife’s pies that at first I dismissed as biased loyalty. I’m so glad to report that the experience lived up to the hype. They have many other great dishes as well. In fact, they tell me that the pea soup is one of their signature dishes. I had this as well and again they out did CA’s own “Pea Soup Andersens.”
Located at exit 712 on I-5, Pollard Flat USA, is a combo restaurant and “last chance” fuel stop till the next exits south or north for several miles. Officially it’s located in Lakehead CA, but the main town is nowhere to be seen. Inside is a methodical organization of collectables. Yes, it has the typical license plates and framed news articles and antiques in the dining area that’s been done soooo many times at the wannabe trendy restaurants. However, here it’s a genuine time capsule of the experience, through the years, of the owner’s past. I noticed an article from the WWII era as well. Even the restroom is well decorated with a little surprise which you’ll simply have to see for yourself. There’s W-Fi available in this “away from civilization” stop too. The pricing I would say is moderate and my hypothesis is, that of delivery charges for their goods. I notice the same thing along the PCH in CA where trucks have a harder and/or longer time reaching locations. All in all, an excellent stop and this is about my 5th time. If pie’s your thing like with me, call first. They’re often sold out undoubtedly due their popularity.

Found this restaurant on the internet as we were staying in the area. We weren't sure what to expect. It's mainly a bar with food as a sideline. I believe it said no kids after 8 PM or something like that. That being said, we had a nice meal_burgers and stuff. It was good enough to rate a return visit when we're going up on Highway 5 next time.

Standard Subway fare, pleasant lady serving. What can you really say about Subway, they are all the same.

Resort atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. American cuisine with burgers, sandwiches, steaks and seafood.
After Allisons Restaurant, this place was heaven. There is not a lot to choose from close to where we were staying. The food was decent and the service was good, prices were average for what it was. Overall we were satisfied and would go back.
