Founded by the Acadians in the 19th century, the legacy of Louisiana's French, Spanish and Caribbean ancestors comes together in Lafayette, creating a city with, amongst other things, a vast selection of restaurants serving everything from spicy po'boys to crawfish etouffee. With its lively street festivals, impromptu Zydeco concerts, historic plantations and food markets where locals still order their plate lunches in Louisiana French, Lafayette is the heart of Cajun country.

First, park across the street in small lot.
Wait in line to order at the counter.
Get drinks and wait in another line to pay. Cash Only!
Hopefully find an open table.
Wait for server to yell out your name. Waive your arms to claim food. Server brings food to table which is packaged as a ‘to go’ order.
Eat an excellent po’boy.

Come in and enjoy "Swamp Edge Cuisine". We are now open 7 days a week.
Coming from Scotland on vacation I had planned to eat here while driving through on our roadtrip. I wasn’t disappointed! The place is a typical bar/grill with friendly service and a great atmosphere. We were served by Cindy who couldn’t have been more helpful recommending some great dishes. I had the crawfish pie with pastry and my wife the Cajun chicken. Both dishes were excellent, freshly prepared and probably the best of our trip to date. For desert we shared a banana bread loaf (large enough for two!) and of course our half price wine which was lovely. Can’t recommend this place enough..... give it a try!

We may not take ourselves seriously, but we always take our food seriously. Generic is our mortal enemy.A truly American restaurant always has an opinion. At Zea, we state ours confidently, unapologetically and with a little swagger and laughter. Maybe it's our New Orleans roots, but we know good food. And our personalities are as bold as our menu items are flavorful. As with most lovable southerners, what you see is what you get at Zea. That simply tends to be a lot of extraordinary. Go ahead - try anything on the menu. And don't worry; you'll be hungry again in a few days, inspiring you to come back and try something new.
I had not visited this restaurant for some time, but did go back and was happy with some menu adjustments they had made. Since I often went on the same day of the week each time I visited they offered the same choice of roasted entrée. Now there are more choices and I have tried more items. All have been very good. I have never had a problem with the appearance of the restaurant but understand they are going to do some renovations. A great choice !

I have brought my family to Deano's for many years. The pizza is great. Cajun executioner is the best for jalapeños lovers. The muffuletta is yummy also. Don's forget the friend mushrooms or fried pickles for appetizer. They are the best. In other words, hard to say what is not good.

Hemingway, bullfighting, and flamenco married with superior Spanish wines and luscious small bites fashion a sophisticated culinary oasis in Downtown Lafayette. By marrying chic urban elegance with rustic Spanish simplicity, Pamplona transports flavors from traditional Spain fused with international tastes, such as those from France, Italy, and North Africa.
Having just been to Barcelona, it could be unfair to review a tapas place in Lafayette... except it is not because Pamplona offers an excellent variety of tapas for all tastes. Tapas don't need to be Spanish food: we had a boudin plate that was well worth the trip.

This is a new restaurant that opened the first week of 2010.
The French Press offers many non-traditional cajun influenced meals. My favorite was Cajun Eggs Benedict. Poached eggs served on boudin topped with a bisque. Really good, fun dish. Always crowded.

Traditional & fusion Cajun cuisine, as well as seafood, steaks, bisque & salads. All food is prepped from scratch.
Had read stellar reviews and was excited to visit. We were seated in a very large, depressing room set up with large banquet tables for large parties, which were noisy (we were only 2 people). The main rooms looked much more inviting. Our food wasn't very good either: crab cakes, etouffee, fried crayfish. Best was the bread pudding, which was free to us as guests of the nearby Doubletree Hotel.

We missed T-Coon’s our first time in Lafayette, but thank the stars we didn’t this time! It’s a humble place, but we will eat breakfast there every time we happen to be in town. The service was great, and, honestly speaking, the crawfish omelet I ordered was perhaps the best omelet of any kind I’ve ever eaten. The b & g kicked butt, too.

a Lafayette favorite known for grilling aged beef & fresh Louisiana seafood over southern hardwoods in a casual yet upscale atmosphere.
We went to Charley G's for an appetizer and drinks before an event on Thursday night. We had tuna tartare and escargot. The appetizers were great. My wife loved her Martini while I had a simple Bourbon on the rocks. In the restaurant, a piano player entertained us. It was a great visit. The atmosphere is terrific.

Johnson's Boucaniere continues the Johnson family tradition of making Boudin, sausages, and tasso's once sold at the original Johnson's Grocery (since 1937. Add to that outstanding smoked pulled pork, brisket, and chicken and other smoked meats and charcuterie. Wonderful service and quality of food. A must for any Cajun or BBQ foodie.
Stopped by for a late lunch and we were the only ones there. Actually stopped to pick up something for our supper. Ordered the special that day-country ribs and boudin with sides.
Had a chance to chat with the original proprietor. What a gentleman. We thoroughly enjoyed the food later in our digs.
Highly recommend. This place is perfect for what we did. You order at the counter and everything is take out anyway. If you eat there you can sit outside on the deck on picnic tables. Very local.
