Award winning specialty cafe and famous "made from scratch" bakery Sweetest Buns in Town...Naturally!
Stopped for lunch and wanted chowder. Went for the half sandwich (huge) and clam chowder. Sandwich was good with a nice corned beef and sauerkraut, nice tasting bread. Mary's Turkey sandwich looked good but didn't have a lot of flavor. chowder was a disappointment, spiced with a strong flavor of tarragon overwhelming any chance to taste the seafood.

This is a pleasant cafe run by a dedicated owner. Yes,, it is cosy, has good decor and nIce art on the walls. But it came up a bit short the day we visited. Drip coffee was tepid. Owner kindly made me an espresso rather than use the microwave. My partner's espresso latte was also just warm. High marks for community engagement and sale of native produced foodstuffs. But, nevertheless, a tad disappointing.

The Oyster & Thistle Restaurant and Pub specializes in 'Elegance Through Simplicity'. Thoughtfully prepared dishes with attentive and unpretentious service in the most uniquely quaint destination. The Oyster & Thistle is a completely from scratch approach with a commitment to the classics.
Very good food & a nice waitress too.
The place is nice, low keyed, expensive & very good.
Frankly, It's overpriced, but everything was done to perfection, so maybe you have to pay a lot for that. We also tried Nell Thorns while there, and Nell Thorns decor is way nicer and lively, their food wasn't that good and it too is expensive.
I would definitely go back to the Oyster & Thistle. BTW, we had a lovely waitress who was very helpful the night we were there.

We ate here for dinner. My partner had the mussels with sausage, which were fine. He also had a sausage, which came with fried potatoes and sauerkraut, a meal that is far too big except for the very hungriest. I had a starter salad and the Hungarian mushroom soup with added fried potatoes and kielbasa. The mussels were served just as advertised and were quite good. The sauerkraut was a bit sourer than the finest sauerkraut we've had. The potatoes were fine. My starter salad was just that--fresh greens with some assorted veggies. Nothing special. The soup broth had nice mushroom flavor (plus a lot of paprika) but very few actual mushrooms. The potatoes and kielbasa had been thrown in in large slices--far too big for me to put in my mouth, so I spent the first few seconds cutting them up. Bread is not served with the soup, but it was with the mussels. The bread was also nothing special. Service was OK.

Flying in from Dallas via Denver, my husband and I were sightseeing around Seattle for 5 days during a beautiful October week. Oldest sister, a Seattle resident since _________, suggested we take a scenic, meandering drive north to the picturesque town of La Conner, WA, in Skagit County, to have lunch and stroll around the streets and shops. The I-5 N route twists and turns a little but it'll bring you right into the town of La Conner. (Our drive took us approx. 70 miles north, or 1 hour, 20 minutes from downtown Seattle.) It was an overcast, cool day but the town is adorable ~ sweet floral planters in front of storefronts and the romantic waterfront at the south end of First Street. We "dropped in" at Ruby Sue's Tea Shop & Treasures for some tea and afternoon dessert. Its Victorian décor with teacups, knick-knacks, and vintage treasures is captivating and worth the quick browse while waiting for dessert to be served. We 2 shared a huge piece of blueberry pie while sipping hot black tea. Certainly, a fantastic, main street little tea shop where a variety of wonderful teas are served to Skagit and Island Counties' visitors and residents. Touring the town of La Conner is well worth the relaxing drive north. Be sure to walk down to the Swinomish Channel's waterfront, too, to observe the Swinomish Indian tribal totem pole; the old, weather-beaten fishing warehouse; and the docked fishing boats with colorfully painted buoys and nets. So, if you're sightseeing around Seattle and have some extra time, be adventurous ~ get out of the city & drive north into the beautiful Washington state countryside.

Nothing like warming up with tasty, hot clam chowder on a brisk, cold day. Another plus, is sitting next to the window with the sun shining in and watching the boats casually go by. That and the attentive, friendly service made for a relaxing experience.Warm chowder, warm sun and boats, yeah what a great day! Thanks so much for sharing your experience! We hope to see you soon now that the weather is warming up!

We stopped by here after lunch. We had some cappuccinos, which were very good, and ice cream. The person who was working there was very friendly and attentive. Although we did not try their pastries, the employee explained to us that they come from a bakery in Concrete and that they are not brought in daily, which means that what is not put out during the day must be frozen. They pastries looked good, but I think I would prefer fresh.

A nicely upscale restaurant with wonderful food. My wife's crab cakes were outstanding and the chicken Marcella was delicious. Great menu and food. Service was also prompt and attentive. Will definitely be back!

Whenever we visit Anacortes, we spend an afternoon in LaConner, perusing the stores and enjoying the environment. This visit was no difference. We discovered that the shoe emporium had moved from one end of First Street to the other, to a much larger and spacious space. Outside, they have an espresso sign. A shoe store with coffee. Great. I decided to get a mocha to save for the next morning, as I couldn’t make coffee at my lodging. Hearing my intention, the barista decided not to steam the coffee. Why heat it to no avail? On the way home, I tasted it. Barely warm, it was wonderful. I ended up saving only a part for the next day. LaConner has a number of places to get espresso, but on my next visit, I came back here, to Step Outside shoe store. They use Illy Coffee, a high quality brand from Italy. If was full and tasty.
