When we visit relatives in West Bend, we always try to get to the Poplar Inn for a memorable dinner. The inside of the restaurant is fine, but for a more eclectic experience in warm weather, definitely choose outdoor seating in a delightful setting at tables with red umbrellas in a garden atmosphere. The four of us all ordered from the Lighter Fare menu. The butternut squash ravioli per se is good, but with cranberries, pecans and fried spinach mixed in the sauce the entree is kicked up a notch to truly gourmet dining. The Canadian Whitefish entree is another great choice. It is panko coated and accompanied by wild rice and veggies. For a pre entree choice, try their savory gazpacho. The wine list by the glass has some out of the ordinary choices that paired well with the meals we had.

Many of our family members like this local coffee shop. It's walking distance to eat here & light fare is available from the menu. Daily specials are soup & sandwich for lower cost choices.

DQ has revamped the appearance of the building. Lots of improvements to the interior to make your dining experience pleasant. Helpful friendly counter staff work to efficiently fill your order inside or through the drive through window. Outside seating available during summer season.

I ordered one of my favorite protein mainstays - chicken tenders. There they came, seven of them, freshly fried and looking good. But they were not what they seemed. They were made from some chicken material, and the breading was more than the "meat".
Chicken tenders are supposed to be strips of chicken breast, not chicken "stuff".
The waitress sheepishly informed us that the packaging where the "tenders" came from was labeled "chicken tenders". I suppose if it was labeled prime rib, she would believe that it would be ok to serve us that stuff as prime rib...
The manager didn't bother to come out and address his customers that considered his food as "unacceptable". Most times, I am very forgiving when a manager tries to make amends, or at least appears to listen to concerns - but this was not the case in this place...

Starting my culinary adventure with a Founders Imperial Stout beer and paired that perfectly with a lightly battered perch dinner accompanied with the suggested German potato salad. Would definitely come back again?

They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, but known best for breakfast. Food is really great, and generous portions. They use real ingredients (their seafood Eggs Benedict uses real crabmeat, spinach and tomato—amazing!). Almost immediate seating, and seating available outside during summer season. Loved this restaurant - we went Saturday night for their prime rib special, and the $16.95 10 oz. special was perfect. Two of us ordered it two different ways and we each got what we wanted - medium and medium rare. The potato pancakes were amazing, as were the chive and sour cream fries. Cheese and crackers and small relish tray also included. Potato soup was tasty and not over-salted. Salad was basic but good. Large selection of beers and mixed drinks - highly recommend the grasshopper to top off the evening! Can't wait to go back. Outdoor seating available. Great service. Other patrons said the Friday fish fry was good too.

Atmosphere was quiet and friendly because of our early visit. The service was efficient as customary. The paninis that we ordered were a matter of concern. Past experience with the same ordered item told us of a portion control issue. The usual serving of sliced prime rib has been around 1/2 inch thick. Our portion on this visit were about equivalent to a slice of bacon.
