We are currently moving across the country, and each town where we stop, I try to find something unique, especially a small, local business, where we can eat. I found this online and thought, let's do it! Well, we should have just stopped at Subway. As someone on Facebook noticed, the staff was rude. We went up to the window, and she didn't even greet us (after we waited a few minutes for her to come to the window). I ordered my burger and sweet potato fries. My husband ordered a po boy and fries. I suggested that he get the curly fries (per the reviews). I said that, looking at the girl behind the counter, as in "I read these were really good". I thought she might say, "Yes, they are a popular favorite" or something...but nothing. I then said, I found you online, and we wanted to stop. Again, no response from her. Okay, fine, she doesn't like to talk or promote her place of employment. We proceeded to order. It took over 25 minutes to make our food. There were two other people there, that were eating. That was it. When we picked up our food, from the window, my husband asked if there was a restroom. Her response, "it might be around back". MIGHT?! Anyway, we started to eat. My burger was overcooked and pretty horrific. I was so disappointed. My husband said his sandwich was good though, so I guess that's a bonus. I read all these great things about the owner, the good, etc and ignored the few negative comments on social media, but I guess that I should not have. I have no idea if I will ever be in Jennings again, but if I am, I will be eating at Subway rather than here.

The Doughnuts are not as greasy as other Doughnuts I've had. They are cheap, and outstanding. Glad I don't live there or I would have a serious weight issue, lol.

Locally and independently owned coffee shop Independently owned and operated coffee shop, serving specialty coffees, soups, specialty grilled sandwiches, salads and homemade desserts! We have a wide variety of coffee and non coffee drinks, including hot latte's, iced lattes, frappes, Italian cream soda's, frozen lemonades and much more! All of our iced coffee drinks are made with our 24 hour cold brew coffee. Cold brew coffee produces smoother, less acidic coffee, and (in our opinion) makes for a much more delicious cold coffee drink! Our coffee is roasted by locally owned micro-coffee roaster - Reve Coffee Roaster. Our goal is to serve you the freshest coffee and quality food in a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.
Very costly for what we received (sandwiches and salads). Service was slow ... Each order at our table was brought out separately, this was very inconvenient.

I often eat at La Rumba when I am in Jennings for business, and find they offer good Mexican food, good service, and good value. Tonight I had the steak fajitas which were really good. Steak was nicely seasoned and cooked with onions and peppers, and beans, cheese, salsa, rice, and guacamole were solid, my only pet peeve is it is served with three tiny tortillas, making for messing eating. Solid beer selection, great employees, along with good food make this one of my favorite places to eat in Jennings.

Most travelers aren't familiar with truck-stop casinos. This would be a typical one BUT with a remarkable restaurant. Not fancy of course but real over stuffed shrimp po boys and hot gumbo. Genuinely friendly local Cajun folks and a brisk crowd made it enjoyable.

This can't be south Louisiana. Somehow, I've wandered far away, maybe Nebraska or South Dakota.
The last I knew, I was in Jennings, Louisiana, looking for lunch. I stopped down the street from a little nondescript building, with a bunch of cars outside, and when I went inside, there were some people who were obviously locals. There was a lunch menu on a blackboard on the wall; it was Friday, and the special was a fish plate, or shrimp. I ordered the fish.
But now this? This tasteless slab of fried something, with corn dumped out of the can and heated? And macaroni salad? No, no, not in south Louisiana. It has to be a dream. A very, very bad dream. People don't cook, and certainly don't eat, this kind of stuff anywhere in Louisiana, not even in Minden.
Soon I'll wake up.
And when I do, I will never go to a corner restaurant in Jennings called Green's, because that isn't the kind of food that people eat in south Louisiana. Maybe in Nebraska or South Dakota, but not down here. We know better.

Shoney's 415 Interstate Dr, Jennings, LA 70546(337) 824-6159
Resteraunt was clean, employees nice and helpful and adequate space. The buffet bar was not quite what I was expecting. I guess it just didn't have my favorites on it. There was plenty of food but not much of what I liked.

Visiting family for the first time in the area and was introduced to Darrell's for lunch, had the Darrell's Special: Ham, Turkey and Roast Beef with American Cheese. It was absolutely the most delicious Po-Boy I had ever had. The roast beef was killer, and the meats were hot and tender and the bun was just as firm and fresh. The dill pickle wrapped in the sandwich was just the right touch.

This is a great place to get a good meal while traveling. Plenty of Waffle Houses along the road in the South. All seem to have very friendly staff and restrooms are generally clean. Their hashbrowns are out of this world. You can customize what goes in your hashbrowns and they are good! I love to stop at Waffle House for breakfast when we travel!
