This place has a BEST fries and is a definite stop on your visit to Kennywood.
Granted it is staffed by teenagers who only half know what they are doing, but they will make your fries light, regular or darker - based on your preference and there are tons of options - flavored salts, cheeses, ketchup, malt vinegar, mustard, more!
Great portions and decent seating.
Just watch for cheese on your seat ;)

I went here 10-12 times over the course of 3 weeks while I was in town for business. I was a solo party, tried the bourbonzola burger, beer glazed chicken, the house made tacos, the tostadas, and the chicken fried chicken, the mango tea, and the jagoff beer. Let's get this started.
- chicken fried chicken, B+. Good and hearty option if your hungry or it's a chilly day. Had it several times, was very consistent.
- beer glazed chicken, A. Very moist and tender, great flavor. Only downside is that it's a lighter menu option and wasn't very filling for me. (6', 215 lb male).
- tostadas, A. Very good, bigger than expected. Filling.
- house made chicken tacos. C. They were just okay. Too many toppings, came out soggy, overall I wasn't impressed w/ these.
- Bourbonzola burger, B. It was good and cooked perfectly medium. Very smoky kinda flavor. I got the bigger patty size, so it was filling.
- mango tea, B-. It was just okay. Kinda watery at times, not very sweet.
- jagoff beer, A. The only beer I tried there, it was really good and reasonably priced for the quality. Was always cold when brought out.
Service was almost always very good, prompt and attentive.
On my last visit, they were out of mashed potatoes and red potatoes. How does a restaurant run out of mashed potatoes in the middle of the week? But that's really my only gripe with this place.
Overall, it's probably one of the best options there at the waterfront area in terms of quality and consistency...

Urbanspon and Yelp already have reviews for this establishment.
I stop in on occasion to buy cookies for business meetings, they are ALWAYS a hit! I have had customers order and have cookies shipped to them after having them. It's a great family business with very friendly service. I absolutely recommend Nancy B's!

Istanbul Sofra has a casual, fresh environment with paprika and cerulean walls, colorful menus and sparkly hanging Turkish mosaic light fixtures. Outdoor seating on busy Braddock Avenue also is available, weather permitting.
Eastern Mediterranean cuisine has been a favorite of mine for over forty years and Istanbul Sofra does not disappoint. First off, the moment that you walk in the door, you are treated politely and respectfully. It is impossible to not respond in kind. The menu, which is affordably priced, has typical mouthwatering fare from falafel, humus and babaganouse as appetizers to kabobs (either lamb or chicken), stuffed eggplant, or expertly prepared sea bass for an entre. While trying the delicious looking rice pudding is on my "to do" list, I haven't been able to resist their baklava (spoiler alert: plan to share it with your dinner companion because the portion is enormous). So if you, too, love Turkish cuisine or want a fantastic first time experience, what are you waiting for? You didn't want to cook at home tonight anyway!

I received an e-mail from Mitchell's that Tuesdays in October are twin lobster tail days in honor of National Seafood month. My husband and I arrived all set to enjoy lobster tails only to be told that this special doesn't start until next week. The e-mail said nothing about not starting until next week so we of course were disappointed. The food we did order was fine but not the twin lobster tails we hoped for.

Prantl's Bakery is a Pittsburgh institution. Its "Burnt Almond Torte" and 100+ sinful sweets have been a tradition for the last 40 years. In fact, there's been a bakery in continuous operation at the flagship Shadyside store for over 100 years. Prantl's is a bakery in the German tradition, with old-fashioned fruit Danish and nut-filled coffeecakes, but we can't help but get excited about some of our "new favorites" as well, like key lime pie and our buttery croissants. In addition to our mouth watering special order cakes, we are famous for our "Burnt Almond Torte", which was conceived by Henry Prantl after a trip to California. There was an almond glut the year he went and the Almond Board was trying to get bakers to use almonds in new and inspiring ways. Henry picked up a few ideas and brought them back to Pittsburgh where he refined them into our current recipe for "Burnt Almond Torte", a unique and addictive dessert. If you've never had one, you really do have to try one. If you have had one, you know what we're talking about! Henry and Jane Prantl retired from the business in 2007. The bakery is now owned and operated by John M. Felice, who strives to maintain the tradition of high quality baked goods. We hope you agree . .
Just going into this bakery is a sensory event! Everything smells Devine! Try the Pinole cookings, out of this world! And the cakes are to die for. Service is always fast and the ladies always friendly. Worth the drive ?

My friends and I went to Emil's on Friday. We sat at the bar because the place was packed. My buddy and I both had the baked fish and were warned it takes awhile which it did! But was very much worth the wait. My other buddy had the fried fish. I had a baked potato and the cauliflower and cole slaw. The cole slaw was delish and we ate that while we waited. The fish arrived and it was very delicious and it is a huge portion. I controlled myself and took half of my food home but it was so delicious I wanted to stuff myself!!
The owner was very friendly and waited on us. She also gave us a shot that she says she shares with any new customers. This was very special alcohol not just run of the mill.
I would definitely recommend. But go early and check the hours. They don't stay up late.

My wife, daughter, and I stopped here for dinner. The ambiance cannot be denied. We had to wait several minutes to be seated because several of the booths had not been cleared and cleaned despite the fact it was early in the evening and there were just a few dinners at this time.
We ordered beverages and the calamari as a shared appetizer. The calamari was very good and the marinara sauce and creamy horseradish sauce was very good. My daughter ordered the grilled salmon, my wife the lobster ravioli, and I ordered the veal parmesan. Each of us enjoyed our meals. My daughters salmon was nicely prepared. My wife said her lobster stuffed ravioli was very good. I did taste hers and found it enjoyable and the vodka sauce was excellent. I did find that the edges of my veal parmesan were a touch burnt, but enjoyable.

Came across this place to avoid the hustle and bustle of the Waterfront on a Saturday evening. To our surprise, we had a wonderful server who was knowledgeable about the food and drink menu. The server praised the menu and the drink selections. We had the soft pretzel appetizer, pork sandwich, and brisket tacos. Everything was delicious. We also ordered the Mead wine and Dogfish Namaste beer on draft. We arrived around 6:00 and come 7:00 the place was hopping! Would definitely come back. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because I think the tables are too close together and I kept getting hit by people walking behind me. Also, I typically order wine and beer at different restaurants and understand that certain selections can be pricey. I understand that the Mead wine would be pricier at $7.50, but was surprised that Dogfish would be $7.50 for a draft. But overall wonderful server and great food at reasonable prices which exceeded expectations and will come back. Next time I will try one of the infused vodka's! Definitely recommend.

Our first visit to Dorothy 6 was well worth it. We met another couple who had been there previously. Located on East 8th Ave in Homestead, the main drag for those unfamiliar with the area, just a left turn off the Hi Level Bridge two blocks down on the right. Parking is on the street. A nicely restored location with friendly attentive staff. We were there on a Wednesday night so it was busy but not crowded. We sat outside in the delightful walled patio area. No appetizers this evening but a good Malbec along with the food, very nice 12 oz Steak and tasty mashed potatoes. Crab cakes for the lady which were a bit overcooked but still good.Everyone loved the Brussels Sprouts with bacon. The chocolate zucchini desert was good but would be better without the chocolate sauce on top which was too sweet..We look forward to our next visit.
