food is okay but the service is terrible. They have never gotten my order right, they were usually not nice and they are slow.

Don't miss this BBQ joint if you're traveling between Bryan/College Station and Houston. It's kind of nondescript and sits down off the highway as you head between Navasota and Hempstead, but if your window is open you'll smell it. Priced very, very well for a BBQ place, the brisket has a nice smoke flavor though it's a little dry. The sausage is good, but the pork belly steals the show with a beautiful bark and incredible smoke flavor. Add some good potato salad to the order and you'll be very satisfied. Everyone is really friendly, too. You'll enjoy the stop.

While staying in Brenham for the Washington on the Brazos Texas Independence celebration, we decided to look for a non-chain breakfast place. I discovered a place called Breakfast Paradise in Hempstead, about 20 minutes from Brenham. I am glad we made the trip. It was a Sunday morning about 10am and parking was a bit limited, a testament to the popularity of this place. We had omelettes with hash browns and toast. About $7.80 each. The omelettes were large and very good! The place looks like it might have been the old ice cream/soda fountain place back in the day. Very polite and attentive servers. The young man preparing the meals was nonstop and did a wonderful job. Even with the crowd at the time, our wait time was minimal and there was no issues with the food. I would suggest you give this place a try if you're in the area and hungry for a filling breakfast. We didn't eat anything the rest of the day we were so full.

I wanted a light lunch so I ordered crispy chicken tacos.
I prefer made-in-the-kitchen fried corn tortillas to the pre-packaged ones, but seldom do I find these in any restaurant except for Las Vegas Cafe in Harlingen, TX.
So, the tacos showed up dressed in pre-packaged tortillas. The chicken was ranchero-style, moist and tasty. The rice was way above average. The refried beans were terrible. They prepare them with comino, and this is a refried bean sin. I just want to taste beans. Add the comino only to chili gravy, etc.
The chips were good and the 2 salsas were average at best because neither had any heat. The pico de gallo that came with the tacos was not good. Lacked salt, lime juice and peppers. There were no chopped jalapeno or serrano peppers, a pico major fail.
Too many shortcomings for anything more than an average rating.
Great service.

We were staying in hempstead just for the night and wanted to grap a drink somewhere. This place was a bit out from our hotel however glad we took the journey out a bit to find this place. It was great. Great bartenders, prices, and beer and wine selection. They do not serve hard liquors. Large place, good music playing. I would recommend to anyone!

We are a family friendly, casual lunch spot! A separate dining room is available for groups or lunch meetings--just call ahead to reserve.
Good food, nice people. The acoustics are bad and they are not in a hurry but that makes it relaxing. Their food is very good and is an interesting variety. They can handle groups also, and do catering. Vickie makes good food and all the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Great variety of Vietnamese food. Wish there were more seafood choices, but, nonetheless, everything I've eaten here has been phenomenal. The fried crawfish are delicious. Crawfish fried rice was also great. My favorite however is hands down their egg rolls. Very flavorful, and so flaky. My husband loves their spring rolls as well. We visit here quite frequently now.

Hempstead is about 1/2 way between College Station and Houston - so, we stop here with regularity.
The McDonalds tends to be clean, and the decor inside is a bit unusual compared to some other locations (although, McDonald's seems to have been updating the inside appearance of MANY of their locations over the past couple of years).
My wife and son bought softserve icecream while we stopped this very last time. Service is always friendly. Nice McDonald's!

Stopped here to eat on a Sunday afternoon. Service was really good and the food was exceptionally good and reasonably priced. Tacos, enchiladas, tostadas, rice and beans were really good. (Although we were charged 50 cents extra for charro beans in place of refried beans). Carne Guisada was just ok.
Chips and red & green salsa was pretty good. Actually, this was the best Mexican food I've had in a long time!
