At Freight House, we're full of hospitality, hometown pride, and Southern cooking at its finest. Built by L&N railroad as a freight depot in 1915, our century-old building has character in every brick and beam. Today, we're a proud fixture of historic downtown Hartselle, serving classic, refined Southern fare. From slow-cooked pinto beans to savory prime rib, everything is made by hand, right down to our potato chips. We're honored to be a part of this building's long life, and we can't wait to show you what makes Hartselle the City of Southern Hospitality.
The four of us enjoyed our lunch at The Freight House. The atmosphere is very conducive to eating any meal...warm, innovative, roomy, and a good location. The menu is extensive and has something for most tastebuds. The food and service were very good, as was...MoreHelga, we're so glad you'll be back for more wonderful bites. I appreciate your review and would love to see you again. Thank you, Sandra

I used to go here regularly for Blizzards, but I've stopped because the people no longer know how to operate the blender. I don't understand what happened.
I can crunch Oreos up in vanilla ice cream at home for much less than $5/large serving. This has happened three times, so it isn't isolated. Blend em up!!
Also...the place is in need of some sprucing inside. The building is starting to feel kinda run down...water damage around windows, etc.

We ordered chicken salad plates to-go for lunch at work. They were packed with delicious food. Chicken salad is really good. Great deal for the price.

Have been to Oh'Bryans many times over last few years including in the old location on Hwy 31. Have never been disappointed regardless of what I've ordered. Have yet to find another restaurant that serves a better steak than Oh'Bryans. Reasonable prices & good service. Do wish they had red onions on the salad bar.

Recently visited here for lunch. Service and food was good. Nothing screamed above and beyond any other Cracker Barrel.

Good pork, better slaw than Gibsons, excellent price on lunch combo. Turkey is tasty and moist. Better sides than other local options.

Stopped by for a takeaway. Their service was friendly and food was quickly and accurately filled. It was close to closing but enthusiasm did not waiver. Their food was good and I will definitely give them another go!!

We've eaten here several times and never been disappointed. There are lots of BBQ options in our small town and these guys are one of the best. Great BBQ nachos!

I have been coming to dair-delite since my family moved to Hartselle when I was 9...20years later my favorite treat from there has always been the Chocolate-Banana milk shake! Well I was so disappointed I had to throw my milkshake away at the last visit, it had no real banana and was hardly even chocolate. They used some type of bright banana syrup! It was gross! This place was a Hartselle tradition and is losing what made it and I hate to see it.

We have dined at El portal by Wal Mart in Hartselle several times over the years hoping it will be good. We have been disappointed each time. This time we decided not to try anymore. I had a taco salad, it was like soup inside the shell. Either the lettuce or something else made it all watery. My husband had chimichunga, and the meat has no seasoning, the beans were cold. It was disappointing all the way around. It was even difficult to get the server to come back for refills. This is a nice building, and if they had a good cook it could do a excellent business, the location is great, but they have a lot of improving on their food to do.
