Skip the famous fish house and head to Nuka. This place is a gem, the sushi is spot on, the service is great, and you won't leave broke. These folks know what they're doing, and they do it right. When in Paia, make the 15 minute trek to Haiku. You won't be disappointed!

Our B & B was in Haiku, so of course we ate there. And Colleen's is really recommended. From the outside very inconspicuous, but very nicely decorated inside, high ceilings, beautiful modern furniture - you do not necessarily expect that here. Very many locals, hardly any tourists. The food was great, I had the wild mushroom ravioli, which were excellent. Very nice service. A nice experience away from the tourist crowds.

The journey from West Maui to Mama’s Fish House was worth the hour plus trek for lunch. As one of the most popular places to dine in Maui, we had to try it out. The menu at Mama’s is printed everyday, with some dishes remaining the same everyday while different fish specials are printed at the top depending on season. I ordered the Ono, ahi, and Kanpachi in Penang curry, which was very flavorful. What amazes me is that the fish here is cooked to perfection, so you won’t expect the fish here to be over cooked at all (hence why the price per plate is relatively high for fish). I would have given this place a five star rating but we found a hair in the crab cakes that we ordered; however the staff at Mama’s were so apologetic regarding the mishap and gave us dessert to try on the house. With that in mind, we ordered the Black Pearl, which is the dessert to die for at this place if you’re a chocolate fudge fanatic.
Overall, I would definitely come back to Mama’s despite what happened with our crab cakes. Definitely a place that’s worth the drive no matter where you’re on the island.

We had a variety of good dishes served in healthy portions. It's a relatively small place, modestly furnished, with a good local vibe. Prices are reasonable. The pumpkin curry was particularly good.

This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside are baked treasures you won't soon forget. Get here long before closing (check their hours first), as the best of the baked items sell out fast. We had the little donuts on a stick (can't recall their name), but WOW they were amazing, left the whole family wishing we'd bought more!!!

Maui Kombucha Raw Cafe features some of the most original & creative Kombucha flavors you've ever had and superb Raw Vegan Cuisine!Everything is local farm fresh made with lovelovelove! If you are into the health conscious, here is the the alternative that you will love.
We went to Maui Kombucha for breakfast after our bike ride down from Haleakala crater. Their menu could be better laid out (i.e. what meals are served during lunch and which for breakfast) as I ordered two lunch items and was told they weren't serving those yet. But that is really such a minor thing as the service was great, staff were friendly, and most importantly, food was great!! The outside and inside of the venue are unassuming, but their kombucha is served throughout Maui (we didn't try any, just the food, but heard rave reviews about it). We ordered the bagel and the acai bowl, both of which were really good! The acai bowl is a nice large portion. The bagel is small, but my husband and I split the two meals, which was enough for us both. Oh! And how could I forget that their coffee selection is large and really tasty! We got the salted carmel latte, which was the bee's knees. This is a good spot for a healthy, tasty, and satisfying breakfast.

Relaxed coffeehouse serving breakfasts, sandwiches, bowls, & salads in homey environs with garden seating.
This is a charming place to spot for coffee or any simple bite to eat. It’s a very wholesome type of place (organic, natural). A great spot before or after the road to Hana. It’s just off the street behind a bikini store, or you can walk through the store as they are connected. Public parking just past the Shell gas station on the left if you’re coming from Hana.

Okay...perfect selections of just about everything: chocolate! Ginger chews for road to Hana! Cereals in giant sizes! Chips galore! Amazing salad bar! Hot foods to go! Awesome veggies and fruits! Staples! Coffees! Teas! This is a real supermarket plus. Puts Whole Foods to shame with their very fair pricing! Mostly, really friendly folks working and shopping here. Narrow aisles but it all works! The small, adjacent parking lot was always a drudge...the only drudge going here. They now offer an hour of free parking just up the road at the unpaved, guarded lot...saves you 3 bucks and you don’t have to play the parking waiting game. We used to pay to park there just to get moving! We love everything about Mana’s...except that it is a one of a kind store and miss it terribly when we leave Maui!

Island Raco is one of the food stands at the fringes of the Haiku marketplace square. There are three shaded or partially shaded big wooden tables to sit at. You order at the counter and pay at the same time. There are fish tacos, chicken tacos and vegetarian tacos, which you can dress up with a grand selection of hot sauces. Flour or corn tortilla, lot of veggies, cheese, sour cream, salsa, and it's all ready in a jiffy. Coconut juice was a welcome sight on the limited drinks list. Under $20 for two of us, with drinks. For Hawaii, a good deal, and healthy, too.

Saw this food truck on Yelp and decided to make the trek to Haiku. It was very much worth the drive. My husband and 3 yr old can concur. We tried the gyro plate (pronounced yee-ro peeps...heard a lot of people struggling with pronunciation as I waited for our order). Also got the chicken plate & baklava. Everything was so delicious we decided to get a few extras to take home. So, we got the baba ganoush, Greek Loco Moco & the rice pudding. The plates come with a fresh salad, hummus & pita bread. The baba ganoush was crazy good. I would go back just for that. Hands down a great stop if you're near Haiku. There are also other trucks in the area (tacos, Thai, Indian) to please everyone in your group/family.
