Government Camp is an unincorporated community and census-designated place located in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States, south of Mount Hood and north of Tom Dick and Harry Mountain. It is the only town within 5 miles (8 km) of Mount Hood and therefore is the de facto "mountain town". It is a gateway to several ski resorts, the most popular being Timberline Lodge and Mount Hood Skibowl. Government Camp also has its own, smaller ski resort, Summit Ski Area. Somewhat farther east there is another very popular resort, Mount Hood Meadows.

** The Mt Hood Brewing Co. will be closed April 2 - 13, 2018, for necessary upgrades to the hood system in the kitchen. **

In January 1991 the Mt Hood Brewing Co. opened, serving locally-produced beers and hearty pub fare in a family-friendly atmosphere. The Mt Hood Brewing Co. was founded upon the notion that, like the best wines, beer is best produced in small, handcrafted batches utilizing the finest ingredients. Eight distinctive ales are produced by the union of pure glacial water, Pacific Northwest barley and hops and the inspiration of the Mt Hood Brewing Co.'s brewers. Like the beer, Mt Hood Brewing Co.'s food is always fresh and locally-sourced. Kids and adults alike enjoy the pub's tasty starters, signature pizzas and hearty entrees. Many menu items are prepared with Mt Hood Brewing Co. beer and are best paired with a cold pint. Thousands of skiers, tourists and locals have made the Mt Hood Brewing Co. an institution on the south slope of Mount Hood.
This was a pleasant surprise. We wanted to avoid the expensive formal dinner at Timberline but didn’t want crappy food either. We wandered in here only because we could walk from our room at the Best Western next door.
The beer is quite good with many choices. I had the Pale Ale and it was quite balanced and reminiscent of a British style ale.
The food was made with very fresh and excellent local ingredients. I had the Carlton Farms pork chop, nicely prepared at a fair price.
One daughter had pizza which she liked.
But maybe the best thing, funny as it might seem, was my other daughter’s homemade hot dog from Portland’s best sausage shop Olympia Provisions. It was served with some interesting side additions like a bacon spread and a peppers mix. It was crazy good.
The service was prompt and super friendly.
It was crowded and noisy but fun.
This will be our go to place going forward.
Far better food and drinks than I’d expect to find at these prices in a remote ski resort town.

A pioneering spirit of craftsmanship paired with a deep-rooted connection to the region inspires Timberline's culinary program. Timberline is at the center of Oregon's bounty, surrounded by mountain streams and a plentiful ocean teeming with fish, rolling fields of fresh and organic produce and locally-raised livestock and poultry. All tended by producers with a common goal. Chef Jason Stoller Smith and Timberline's talented culinary brigade share this vision and invite you to "Taste Oregon" in the Cascade Dining Room.
I took my girlfriend here for the Sunday-Thursday Dine and Stay option where you get any entree for Free and being her birthday they comped any choice of desert.Any wine or appetizers were not included. We at earlier in the day for their Sunday brunch buffet which was very nice. Not voluminous spread found at some buffets, but well worth the $24.75 per person.if a wine lover, they have an impressive selection of wines from Oregon and Washington. They even had a regional Malbec. wonderful option if staying at the Timberline Lodge or staying elsewhere in the area.

Stopped in here for a late lunch after visiting Timberline. My husband ordered a cheese pizza which he said was just average and price was average. I ordered two items off their small plates menu, the tomato caprese and the salmon cakes. For two salmon cakes, $10 was pricey. They were too heavily breaded, but otherwise okay. Coming from a commercial fishing family, they can be done better. The tomato caprese was good, but that is a recipe that is simple and would be hard to mess up. To be fair, we did not have any of their European specialties they do for dinner so that may be where they really shine. Service was average. No major concerns about this place but not necessarily wowed by it either.

Uniquely located on Timberline Lodge's second floor circular balcony surrounding the massive stone chimney, the Ram's Head Bar is the perfect location for family-friendly casual food and drink with stunning views of the mountains. Whether you're visiting Timberline Lodge in the summer with your family or taking a ski break in the winter, you'll want to visit one of our most popular casual dining restaurants, the Ram's Head Bar. From here, you'll be awed by the craftsmanship of the head house fireplace and enormous wood beams. You'll be inspired by the stunning views of Mt Hood and Mt Jefferson. You'll be delighted by the original artwork. You'll be just as amazed by the Ram's Head Bar menu. The extensive drinks menu features an historic and locally-inspired cocktail selection, a variety of hot toddies and Mt Hood Brewing Co microbrews. The locally-sourced and Alpine-inspired food menu won't disappoint either!
Best Manhattans ever made. Good wine selections as well. Loved everything about it. Unfortunately, didn't experience the food, but everything looked wonderful as servers were delivering to their prospective parties.

We had dinner and choose several items like pizza, pasta and starters. The food was okay, nothing special to be honest. Wide variety of beers. Staff is friendly and prompt. Prices are okay.

** Closed for the season. **

The Blue Ox Bar is open for the winter and summer seasons only. Tucked away just behind Timberline Lodge's main lobby, the Blue Ox Bar is a favorite watering hole steeped in history and tradition. This cozy hole-in-the-wall offers a comfortable reprieve from a day on the mountain - a warm place to grab a slice and a brew. Once you find the Blue Ox Bar, you'll find it hard to leave! Timberline Lodge was built in 1937 by Oregonians of the Depression Era under the WPA. The Lodge was nearly finished when it was noticed that there was no bar. Improvising architects altered a space designed for wood storage to create the Blue Ox Bar. The recently restored glass mosaic murals illustrate the well known Paul Bunyon legend and his beloved blue ox, Babe. The Blue Ox Bar menu features hand tossed pizza and other delectable snacks in a cozy lodge atmosphere. Thirsty? Try a handcrafted microbrew from the Mt Hood Brewing Co or a signature Blue Ox Bar cocktail.
This is the most affordable (and coziest) dining option within the Lodge itself. There are only 3 beers on tap as opposed to the 8+ upstairs at the Ram's Head. The pizzas are made fresh and oven-fired. Great place for families to rest up.

there are both a restaurant and Inn
Went in for the first meal of the day around 10:30 am the day after Christmas. This is an older establishment with a cabin feel. Prices were higher but not shocking-(thats expected in every place near a ski location). What was shocking was the quantity of food per serving. It was good and it was a lot!

Across the parking lot from Timberline Lodge in the Wy'East Day Lodge, you'll find the Wy'East Cafe and Y'Bar. Both are casual restaurants that are favorite hangouts for hungry skiers and riders taking a break from the slopes. The Wy'East Cafe is designed to appeal to active skiers and snowboarders with a variety of convenient, healthy, and hearty options. Food stations include burritos and bowls, pizza and pasta, burgers, and a fry bar in addition to a healthy grab-n-go section with sandwiches and salads. Offering hearty fare and hot toddies, the Y'Bar will warm (and fill) you up for your next run on the slopes. The Y'Bar is located next door to the Wy'East Cafe. The menu features snacks, soup, salads and wraps, plus microbrews from Mt Hood Brewing Co, a whole slew of hot cocktails to warm you up and get you back on the powder. In the summer, enjoy the patio overlooking Mt. Jefferson.
Open a bit earlier for breakfast than the main dining room at Timberline lodge, this cafe offers short order breakfast fare that is good and not too expensive, given the location, as well as fast food options for lunch and dinner. We ate there two mornings before our hikes and were well satisfied. I had the Wally's Wrap one morning, huge and very tasty, and the Snow Rider Breakfast, standard eggs, sausage, hash browns, & toast another morning. Definitely recommend as a good, relatively cheap option to dining in the main lodge.

Get your morning off to a great start! Stop by the High Mountain Cafe on your way to the ski hill or Adventure Park for a quick, healthy, delicious breakfast or lunch. The cafe is located on the second floor of the Ratskeller Building in the heart of Government Camp. We specialize in gourmet coffee and espresso, breakfast & deli sandwiches, free WI-FI and friendly service. We also offer full catering services along with fresh meats and cheeses cut to order right out of our deli case.
If you are looking for a great deli sandwich or great coffee, this is the place to go in Government Camp. They have a full deli and espresso bar which makes this both a great early morning...and afternoon...destination whenever you are up on Mt Hood. Their coffee is roasted locally at Mt Hood Roasters in Rhododendron. The High Mt Café serves only the best, locally procured foods. Don't miss this funky place!

Bar is separated from restaurant, I went to the bar. Service is quick enough and friendly. Beers and drinks are reasonably priced. Summer evenings are full of adult High Cascade campers, counselors and coachs. Expect a rowdy time and go with it! Everyone there is friendly and happy.
Worth going a time or two :-)
