Came here on our way to the Wrangells, and needed to get the horrible taste of an over-garlic'ed sandwich out of our mouths. Listened to Ryan T's review and decided to take a chance and try Tok Thai.
My husband got the Pad Thai and I got the Spicy Fried Rice. As Ryan stated, this place is as good as any place in Anchorage. This seems to be a husband/wife business - very authentic. My spicy fried rice was actually spicy (unlike most places in Anchorage), and no at all like Chinese fried rice (there IS a difference). My husband's Pad Thai was lacking the usual sprouts, but we are in the middle of nowhere - the taste was great, and there was way more meat than is usually served in this dish in Anchorage. My husband was impressed that they could get Thai basil out here. Also got the Thai ice tea, which was delicious.
On our way back to Anchorage, decided to stop by here again. This time I got the Green Curry with Seafood (a substitution) with a side of peanut butter sauce, and my husband got the Pat See Am with chicken - we got both medium spicy. We got Thai ice teas again, too, to have something to drink for the road. The Pat See Am was delicious! Great flavored noodles with chicken, fried egg, green onion, and vegetables. Better than any Thai place we've eaten at in Anchorage. My green curry was delicious, as well - just the right amount of spicy with a surprising array of seafood. I did not expect fresh (not frozen) octopus in my curry! I've eaten octopus in Hawaii many times before, so I know the difference - extra star for this fact alone. Wow, such a delicious dish! We were the only ones ordering at the time, so I didn't notice any additional wait to substitute seafood in this dish.
Overall, taking into consideration that this place is in the middle of nowhere, and doesn't have access to everything we have in Anchorage, this place does an awesome job creating authentic Thai dishes, and going above and beyond with their ingredients, all for a price cheaper than what we normally pay in Anchorage for lesser quality dishes. Highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area.

We stopped on the way to Valdez at this "roadhouse" that popped up out of nowhere. It was excellent and they pumped seriously needed gasoline outside too! The lunchtime crowd was large as you might expect out in the middle of the wilderness near Glennallen. There was even an AK State Trooper in there checking things out and grabbing some coffee. Americana at its best. The food was excellent and the service was just perfect. This is a summer only operation and worth the stop. The menu was typical roadhouse fare but the quality was excellent and everyone in our group went away happy and satisfied. It was will worth the stop. I loved the house Tee shirt that said something like, "This is Eureka. Shut up and eat your burger!" Loved it. They also had lots of stuff on the walls and funny slogans that gave us some laughs. I love Alaska Roadhouses and this is a good one.

The name of this place is now The Freeze. They dropped the Tasty part quite a while ago, probably to save franchise fees.
Worn down fast food place that is basically the only fast option in Glennallen. Interior has seen better days and is rather raggedy and worn.
Outside signage is broken and tilting and you can see where they painted the "Tasty" part out of the sign.
Food is OK for fast food. Burgers had miniscule slice of tomato both times I ordered.
Hamburger is $6. Fries $4. Shake $6. $16 is pretty high price for what you would get in Anchorage for $10. Everything here is expensive.
Hamburger was decent size and had hand formed patty. Frozen Sysco fries. Shake was pretty good though.
Good service from employees.
As you will have no other choices for hundreds of miles in any direction, not that bad of a choice.

We're from California and picky about Mexican food. This was authentic and great. Highly recommend. Wasn't sure as next to a gas station and visitor center, with the food truck attached for the cook to go in and out. Decor done well for a small place. Also did hamburgers for those not fond of Mexican food.

Our family has visited many times. Great, comfy, quiet, warm private cabins. Always clean. Nice campground. Clean bathhouse with hot water and laundry facilities. Lodge itself is run by a true Alaskan character ....Mabel. She is always accommodating and let me tell you.....she can cook! Food is always top notch. Beautiful Mendeltna Creek runs along side it. Great grayling fishing. Our family loves this Alaskan getaway.!! They also host a music festival!!! Fun!

So I am driving down highway 4 in the great state of Alaska and I am hungry for lunch, and I know it will be at least an hour to Valdez, probably a lot more with stops for glacier and waterfall viewing. This stretch of the highway is beautiful but not well settled, almost no human presence. Do I break out the beef jerky and trail mix, or...well look at that: a little place up ahead that serves lunch!
The Lodge restaurant is small and charming -- "old timey" I would say -- with a little counter and several tables, sharing space with souvenirs for purchase, and I would guess the check-in desk for the lodge. It's very clean and the owners are the staff. What's not to like?
I ordered the "Grilled Tiekel and Chips". What the heck is a Grilled Tiekel, you may ask? At least that day it was salami and ham with two cheeses, grilled on whole wheat bread. It was hot, fresh and delicious and I enjoyed it very much. The owners clearly have a sense of humor.
But I think the most surprising thing about the meal was that it was served with chips AND dip. If you think about all the restaurants you have ever had potato chips at, did you ever get served homemade chip dip with them? I think probably not. What a nice touch! And there is a story behind it.
You will just have to ask the proprietors to find out why.

We recently went for lunch at the Tolsona Lake Resort. It is a classic lakeside resort, with an incredible view of the lake from the windows as you sit at the bar or at the tables (but especially the bar). Apparently, there had been some new owners for the past six years, but they couldn't make a success of it, so the old owners took it back. The interior is amazing - the heads and racks on the walls are nothing short of stunning, are we aren't hunters. There is an old time juke box, a great bar and tables, too. We ordered fish and chips for lunch. It came with an amazingly fresh and full salad and FIVE pieces of fish with french fries - this is one serving mind you. Julie, the wife half of the owners, is also the cook. She is friendly and welcoming and great to talk with. Her husband, Kirk, the other half of the owners, has a long history of fishing and hunting in Alaska and is a pilot. There are many stories to be told here. It is such a welcoming place. We were the only customers for a while, but it was like old home week. One caution: if your politics are conservative, talk politics. If not, avoid the topic a bit. Lunch is never as good served with politics, don't you think?

We have homemade pizza made fresh to order, You choose the topping you like and the size you need and we create your most favorite pizza with the most delicious garlic butter crust. Not to hungry and just need a snack try our wonderful garlic butter breadsticks as a snack along with our soft serve ice-cream. MMM. Need a pick me up try one of our espresso coffee drinks hot or cold they're wonderful
We visited the area outside the tourist season so there were not really any restaurants open, so we stopped here due to the other reviews. When we walked in we were not really impressed as it more of a thrift store. But they made us a fresh hot pizza in about 15 minutes. The sauce was flavorful, the crust crunchy and the toppings fresh.

Ate here with my family for lunch before checking into the Caribou Hotel. The hotel and restaurant are managed by the same team. My guess is that they use a different name for the restaurant because they want to distance it from the terrible hotel. The problem is that the restaurant is just as bad. The menu is very basic and pricey, but it is the only place in town. You could hear the poor overworked waitress yelling at the cook who was getting orders mixed up and shuffling slowly around the kitchen with no sense of urgency. A simple lunch took an hour and a half! They put cheese on my daughters hamburger and put the corrected ticket in the back of the line instead of immediately correcting it. They didn't even apologize (and it was not a misunderstanding. The waitress told us the hamburger went to someone who ordered the cheeseburger). We felt really bad for the waitress. The guy who seemed like he was in charge was just strutting around clueless telling everyone he was the accountant just helping out like he was a hero or something and this work was beneath him. On the upside, the food was ok but still over priced. I wish we would have just bought sandwiches at the store and had a picnic, which would be my recommendation for anyone passing through in the summer.

Stopped in Glennallen on our way back from Fairbanks and arrived at the Caribou Restaurant 15 min before closing. It is a diner-type facility. The service was great!! The food was just ok. We had the Reuben sandwich with French fries. The portions were large, but corned beef had a lot of fat. Our friends ate the hamburger steak and said that it was good.
