For 27 years Milano's have been offering fresh Italian cuisine, prepared with locally sourced seafood, fresh pasta made daily in-house, and fresh baked bread, with great vegan and gluten free options. Offering a full spirits, wine and craft beer list with over 70 wines from around the world as well as from Washington state. Come enjoy fresh Italian cuisine in a casual atmosphere nestled at the base of Mt. Baker in Glacier, Washington. Attached to Milano's is Bar Veneto, a casual but upscale craft bar, with an amazing selection of spirits, some from the owner's own distillery, such as Aunty Molly's Apple Cinnamon Rye Whiskey, Jaguar Gin infused with cumari peppers from the Amazon forest, Jupiter's Blood Sangiovese Brandy, Isabelle Spiced Banana rum and more. Our bartenders create and mix great, unique cocktails as well as the classics. Bar Veneto has an international gourmet taco menu: Middle Eastern Lamb. Wild Prawn, True Cod, Portuguese Beef, etc..
My friend and I went to try out the Italian local spot. The clams and mussels in garlic wine sauce was delicious - definitely worth ordering. The lamb raghu polenta was ok - the polenta was more the consistency of oatmeal which I prefer my norther Italian heritage Nona's style firmer polenta. The Raghu lamb was fair. The mushroom wine pasta was mediocre at best, not much flavour.
The do in was the service and rude attitude of the waiter. The owner came over and checked in, which is a good touch. But not the server - one job - just be nice and serve the customers. Easy enough.

We missed the bakery on our way up to Mt. Baker, but found it on our way back after we asked for directions. Nice little shop - wonderfully looking pastries, nice breakfast and lunch menu, souvenirs (Tshirts etc.), cups and other trinkets. Friendly help and cozy ambience. Outdoor seating and plenty of parking.

After a day of driving we dropped by for dinner here in the late summer season. It was a quiet night I would wager, with almost every table open. We took seats outside, which we kinda regretted a little bit when cigarette smoke meandered over to us, although that's on us, not the restaurant.
I had a steak with veggies, and the wife got cedar plank salmon and veggies. The veggies we were told would be asparagus, our favorite, but they ran out and only had squash and onions. I liked it, but the wife haaaaates onions so she lost out. To make up for it they comped a beer, so that was cool.
The entrees themselves were solid. Not amazing, probably not high quality enough for the price point, but perfectly alright for how we felt after a tiring day. I ordered the steak medium rare as a rare treat (I try to avoid meat), and glad I kept it at that because it was closer to medium well than medium rare.
We dropped by again a few days later for lunch to give their touted pizzas a chance. We made a mistake ordering a rather busy pizza, one with balsamic, dates, goat cheese, and bacon. The bacon was rich, and the rest combined to make it cloyingly sweet. We should have stuck with a simpler pie, because the crust was damn tasty. Ah well.
I had a nori hot dog on top of the pizza. It was very nice, with the seaweed adding a neat want to the nicely cooked dog.

The salad was HUGE - loved it. I'm vegetarian and the menu was a bit meat/chicken/fish heavy. But they made tomato sauce (i think it was made just for me) for the pasta. The garlic bread wasn't anything special, but custom making my meal was very nice. The fish and chips and chicken finger meals the others in my family ordered were huge servings. The chips were supper yummy.

This is nothing more than a food cart owned and staffed by very friendly people. A limited range of food is baked in the cart. Coffee is also served. Good alternative to other options in town.
