Freeport is the county seat and largest city of Stephenson County, Illinois. The population was 25,638 at the 2010 census, and the mayor of Freeport is Jodi Miller, elected in 2017. Freeport is known for hosting the second Lincoln-Douglas debate of 1858, and as "Pretzel City, USA", named after the heritage of its Germanic settlers in the 1850s and the Billerbeck Bakery pretzel company that started as a result of their arrival. Freeport High School's mascot is the Pretzel to honor this unique heritage.

The restaurant is in downtown Freeport. The menu has a good variety of food and a nice selection of burgers. We really liked the atmosphere, a bit quaint and funky. It definitely has its own Personality. The ribs were great, as was the chicken noodle soup. The fries are fantastic. Coleslaw is so-so. I’d skip the brisket as my two relatives had it and said it was tough, and needed to be cooked longer to make it more tender. I tried the deep fried Oreos even though I thought they would be nasty. They were scrumptious so I will definitely be ordering them again. The handicapped ramp goes into the second dining room and bar area. We were able to park out front but I did not see handicapped parking spaces. The service is friendly and prompt. I can see why my Freeport friends give the place rave reviews.

Brenda and her staff are so friendly to everyone. The food is always fresh, homemade, and changes daily. The homemade pies, cookies, and cakes are delicious. The restaurant has expanded to include a private room for parties and showers. Recently, they expanded again and have opened up access to the Pretzel Shop, where everything pretzel can be found. I also love the rotating display of local artists.

Very excited to have found this coffee shop. I travel around southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois daily for work and in my role, a nice place for a quick, nice lunch and some computer work is such a high spot in my day. Everyone was extremely helpful and nice and the flatbread was delicious. Will be back again!

Awesome popcorn with more flavors than imaginable. From sweet concoctions to savory delights ! The only problem is trying to decide which ones you want. Dragon Berry is yummy and the many assorted cheese flavors and combinations are a popcorn lovers delight !

Always enjoy Maria's Pizza. Great Pizza, chicken wings with homemade sauce, & their tossed salads. When visiting Freeport, try to stop here, but sometimes very busy & unable to find parking. We always try to order extra pizza to take back with us to Chicago. No pizza in Chicago compares to Maria's.

Not my choice for burgers, but barbeque is good. The ice cream is always good, dependable. All ice cream novelties are good, love the Dilly Bars and we get them in boxes of 6. Three types! Only bad thing is the Orange Julius, too orangy, not enough ice creaminess.

Family dining in an impressive oriental atmosphere. Voted "Best Ethnic Food" in the Region 19 years in a row! Ample parking with easy access. Lunch specials served daily. Healthy choice and gluten-free menu options. Full bar and children's menu available.
All of the staff was very friendly and nice. Unfortunately, the food has gone downhill terribly since the last time I ate there a couple years ago. The egg drop soup was the best thing we had. The rest was over cooked vegetables and salty sauce. I got the Mongolian beef and it came out looking like chop suey. We specifically asked for no MSG and the waitress said NOT to get the fried rice as it had it, and she'd tell the cook not to put it in the entree. We thought my spouse would be ok, but something had MSG in it, possibly the made-ahead soup. In any case, although there aren't a lot of options in Freeport when the Union Dairy is closed, and this place used to be good, it's not on my go-to list anymore.

Great atmosphere and consistently good food. Has been one of my favorites for many years. The pizza is second to none , and the pasta with the house red sauce is always perfect . Highly recommend .
