We always make a stop at this wonderful bakery/deli/grocery when we are in the Floyd area. Their sandwiches are wonderful. The bakery has yummy sticky buns and yeast rolls and apple cake and pecan pie and more of the most wonderful dessert items. There are some local crafts and cookbooks and it is just a great place to visit.

Black Water Loft serves Red Rooster coffee, tea, smoothies, & baked goods.
My wife gets excited with the Pumpkin Spiced Latte comes out at Starbucks every year; well that may very well change after trying this one. Now I have a feeling she'll remember that day we drove through the mountains and I'll get the "remember how good that coffee was!"
I'm no pumpkin fan and even I liked it the subtle tastes of fall it provided.

We stopped by The Floyd General Store on a recent trip thru the area and decided to have a bite to eat. The store is exactly what it says it is. A General Store. Picture old time country store with candy counter and blue grass music. We ordered a bowl of fresh made tomato soup and grilled cheese and a hot dog with chili. all were good and perfect for a lite lunch along with an ice cold root beer. Great atmosphere and there is lots of shopping too.

Decided to order some sandwiches to go for a nice picnic from here while walking around the many parks and open spaces on the blue ridge parkway. Food was very good, price was right and glad we called in advance to pickup and go.

We got there just before they were closing. We didn't get that warm welcoming feeling and were sort of rushed out. Coffee was just OK. Maybe if we caught them earlier in the day the staff and the coffee would have been more lively.

Fresh, local, seasonal food prepared simply, and artfully. The meals prepared by Chef Sterling are best described as Fusion cuisine with a southern flare. All served in a relaxed atmosphere. Don't forget to try our unique "Oddbar" upstairs.
Good food! Good atmosphere! Great wine taster! My sister is an "Alpha-gal" and can eat here with out any problems! No allergic reactions, so far! That's makes me happy! We will go back next time she visits!! Thanks!!

We were in Floyd in October on a visit and decided to attend the Maria Muldaur performance that weekend. As a combination restaurant/bar and music venue, this naturally presents some conflicts in terms of what is driving attendance.
This particular evening, it was very poor. We all paid to attend the music venue, this was not a free add on to the bar. The problem was the noise level was ridiculous. The crowd in the bar, and at some large tables in the music venue, could have cared less that people paid to hear the show. And, the lack of respect for the performers was perhaps worse. At one point, member of the audience near the stage asked the performers to request that the crowd settle down.
At no time, did management (which seemed to be absent the entire evening) ever make an introduction, request that people be respectful, or in any way, shape, or form manage the situation.
I will never pay again to attend any music at this bar. As a bar, it’s ok, people seem ok, etc, but as a music venue it is a non-starter. Too bad as this could be a nice setting if one could actually hear the music.

Chateau Morrisette offers fine dining in a casual setting. Located along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Floyd County, Virginia, Chateau Morrisette sits at 3500 feet with spectacular views of the valley below. B and B owner recommended the el Charro rather than the fast food places in Floyd since it was the only true restaurant choice on Tuesday night. The place was packed at 6:15 as a result with long waiting lines. When finally seated our waitress was super friendly, helpful and efficient. The menu is typical Mexican American with plenty to choose from. XX beer was good and cold though the margarita was possibly the worst my wife has ever had, not nearly enough tequila, couldn't taste any at all, and so obviously from a pre made mix. Things did get better from there. The Texas fajita was excellent, plenty of meats and veggies, hot tortillas and not overloaded with green peppers. That was topped off with good beans, rice and green salad. The chicken quesadilla was good as well. Very reasonable prices, quick service and they take Apple Pay

The Pine Tavern has been a fixture in Floyd for years. The menu is just good country cooking, with few frills. Known for their fried chicken and country ham, other offerings include pulled pork barbecue, catfish, and chicken tenders. Mashed potatoes are genuine. Everything is tasty. A Red Rooster IPA delighted the spouse. This is a regional food Mecca in Floyd. Folks hereabouts have enjoyed sitting around tables with checkered tablecloths eating good meals like this for generations. Prices at the Pine Tavern Restaurant are reasonable and service is good. Ample parking in the rear. Look for the sign directing you.
