Dear readers. Our Dinning Hall is not open yet for the season. We usually re-open the end of April. When there is a set date, we will post our open status. Thank you :)
A restaurant with great characters and ambience. The rooms are small and allows for nice intimate dining. We had steak and tuna and they were both excellent. The wine selection was good and reasonable priced. It is a good alternative to the expensive restaurants at Tenaya Lodge.

We stopped here for lunch enroute to Yosemite. We had a salad and pasta. Very good. A historical place for sure. Check out the dining room ceiling shades. Maybe they were hand painted? Beautiful. And the scenery looking out of the dining room windows was priceless. We had a brief lecture/info session on the property, etc. Big Trees is a commercial name and not the original name.

Sierra is one of Tenaya's most popular Yosemite restaurants - a spacious and comfortable space surrounding a towering limestone fireplace, offering breakfast and dinner service. Enjoy a cozy fireside dinner with your friends and family, or during the summer months, dine under the stars at Sierra Restaurant's unique outdoor patio complete with blazing fire pit.
We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed the buffet breakfast twice. Usual options and good variety. Recommend it as otherwise you would need to drive somewhere to get breakfast.

After a day of discovery, retire to Jackalope's Bar & Grill to relax and enjoy pub fare, delicious local beers, wines and spirits. Featuring made-to-order grilled burgers, sandwiches, specialty salads and more, this Yosemite bar and grill offers an array of options. Children have their own menu and can entertain themselves by coloring with complimentary crayons. If they're lucky, they can even catch a glimpse of Tenaya's legendary Jackalope (hint: look up!). And if it's a game day, you can catch all the action via our new flat-screen HDTVs.
Basically, if you're staying at Tenaya Lodge, you don't have a lot of options here for eating. You can drive 20 minutes or so to a town, but everything there closes early, so if you've had a long day in the park, you may not have the time or the desire to get yourself to the town, and you're stuck at the hotel. And the prices seem to reflect this as they are consistent with fine dining, but this is more pub food quality. If the prices were lower, the rating would be higher. The food isn't bad - it's just not consistent with the prices.

Embers, Tenaya Lodge's fine-dining restaurant is the venue for upscale Yosemite dining featuring cuisine prepared to perfection by Tenaya's award-winning culinary team led by Executive Chef Frederick Clabaugh, CCC. With an ambiance that is sophisticated and romantic, Embers offers an intimate dining experience with a crackling, double-sided fireplace as the centerpiece, elegant high-back crimson chairs and very personal service by the well trained staff. The menu offers dishes that match the Sierra Nevada experience, prepared using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. Elegant fish, beef and game preparations are some of the featured menu specialties in Embers.
We stayed at the Tenaya Lodge and had dinner at the Embers "fine dining" restaurant. The food was good. I had a very good rack of lamb. The ambiance was, well, like I remember from the 90's. Not bad, just dated and a bit stuffy. The service team did a good job. The prices were high, reflecting perhaps that the nearest fine dining restaurant is 14 miles away down a winding mountain road. Ie, it's the only so-called "fine dining" option around. I'll choose the Jackalopes Bar and Grill if I stay there again.

Anxious to hit the road, my friend and I purchased coffee and pastries and sandwiches for later. The coffee was good and hot and the sandwich choice, though pre-made, was interesting, not just the usual ham and cheese. I bought a ham and swiss croissant and a meaty Italian deli sub for later. Added a few granola bars, some bottled tea, some chips and we hit the road in no time. I even thought the prices were fair considering the guests are a captive audience. We ate lunch next to a creek watching climbers the size of ants scaling Half Dome. Everything was tasty and seemed fresh and of hefty quantity. I regretfully shooed away ducklings begging for scraps as we were being good park guests.

White Chief Restaurant is nestled in the pines in Fish Camp, Ca. Only 2 miles from the south gate entrance, we are the closest restaurant to Yosemite Entrance. We have a variety of dishes from steaks to burgers, salads and kid friendly. If your looking for a great family atmosphere this is the place to be.
The restaurant has a new owner/chef and she is amazing! We ate there for breakfast every morning for a week and were never disappointed. The eggs, pancakes, french toast, bacon/ham are as good as you will ever find! Hearty portions. She remembers your likes/dislikes. Family run, with help from her daughters & son. Breakfast hours are 7am to 10am. Also helpful to let her know if you are planning to eat there for dinner or next day's breakfast, since they sometimes close early if no one is dining. Some of the older reviews on Yelp were not favorable, but either the reviews are old or the person was cranky. Eating there for a week, including dinner one nite -- and everyone we saw was very pleased with the food and service. The chef/owner goes out of her way to please; and takes great pride in her cooking and presentation. Don't be afraid to ask for an add-on or substitution (such as ham instead of bacon/sausage), or fresh fruit. Although the dinner menu is not large, what she cooks she cooks good. I had the charbroiled chicken breast (nicely seasoned, with a good sear on the outside without drying up the meat inside) and my wife did the grilled pork chops. They came with a salad, baked potato or rice, and grilled veggies (delicious, and I normally hate boiled veggies, but loved these). Absolutely no complaints about the dinner! A new service that she is starting in July 2015 is that she will prepare a boxed lunch for taking to the park. Properly wrapped, with the wet components separate (add them when you are about to eat) so that the sandwich or wrap does not get soggy and fall apart. Again, she KNOWS what she is doing! Too bad that this restaurant is such a well kept secret; it really is the gem of Fish Camp. Dinner hours are 6-9pm, and it is advisable to tell them if you are planning on dining, so they won't close early on a dead night. Personally, I would prefer hours of 7-10pm -- which is more convenient for those coming back from Yosemite Valley. It is an hour's drive back from the park, and then of course you all want to shower.
