Kaw-Lija's is located downtown in beautiful Eagle Nest, New Mexico. We are a 50s-60s diner and also offer a complete old-fashioned ice cream parlor and specialty coffee bar. We have been in business for 31 years! Currently our schedule is Monday - Sunday 8am to 8pm. We have been written up in Sunset Magazine on three different occasions!!! Checkout our quality food!
We love to drive over Bobcat from Red River and shop the stores in Eagle Nest, go to the Farmers Market when open, and eat at Kaw-Lija's! My son love the Green Chili Burger and I love the Green Chili Chicken Quesadillas. Live music on...MoreWe love having you in our businesses. Thanks so much for the kind words! Look forward to next time!

It looks small from the outside, but there is plenty of seating inside. We tried the Frito Pie with brisket and the Rib plate. The food is good and flavor spot on. The ribs, while not fall off the bone tender, were still meaty and had a nice taste. While I might not go back for the ribs, we enjoyed it enough to consider going back and definitely would make it a spot we visit when we come back to Angel Fire.
Pros:
Nice and friendly staff
Fast service
Meat has awesome smokey flavor
Moderately priced
Condiment bar with fixin's so you can dress your meal how you like (pickles, onions, relish, sauces, etc).
Good hours - early morning to evening so you can be satisfied for any meal - we'll try breakfast next time!
Cons:
The Ribs plate was a little pricey at $15

Calamity Jane's is a family owned and operated restaurant. We are not a fast food restaurant and take pride in the fact that most of our food is homemade. Take out, catering & special order baked goods available.
Food overpriced, service barely there, beer was 5 bucks, half glass sangria 8 bucks. No one in the restaurant and still couldnt get service. We have never been accused of being overpriced, I'm sorry this was a problem for you. As for the bar drinks, you need to go to the the Laguna Vista Lodge for that complaint. We have no control over the bar prices and serving size.

Just stopped for a quick snack, the wings were quite good. Breaded and fried instead of the more common (I think) sauced. Lots of sports memborabilia about, a nice dog-friendly patio, always games on the TV. Friendly staff with good service.

Stopped here returning to NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM from Valla Vadalla by way of Questa and Red River, NM. Had a polish sausage sandwich and nothing special. The sign out front said best food in three counties. Really an interesting time speaking with the other clientele.

Our first morning in Eagle Nest, we was trying to find a place open for breakfast since Calamity Jane didn't open until 11. Since Country Kitchen was on that side of the road, we chose them. When sitting down, there was sticky syrup on the table. Asked the server to wipe down the table with wet cloth. When he wiped it down, there was an odor as if it was wiped with soured dishwater. Husband took paper towel to try and wipe over to make it better. When food came out, my hashbrown was the frozen hashbrown patty you get from freezer section. It was saturated with oil and burnt to a crisp as was anyone else's who had the hashbrown with their order. Another person in the party had toast so crisp that when he broke it, you literally saw particles float in air. It was not edible. On the plus side, the pancakes were very fluffy and tasted as if they had cake batter in them. Will not return to Country Kitchen.
