Wonderful Mexican food served on one of two outdoor decks right on the Yuba river. Feather, the owner, has owned it for over 15 years and cooks all tasty dishes herself. Make sure to chat with her about the Gold Rush history of Downieville. Great wines poured generously, too!!

Small town, once a booming gold mining town. Drinks limited to what owner has in stock, but you won't leave thirsty! Inside the bar is full of character, with a pool table, peanuts offered to customers, shells tossed on the floor. Atmosphere like the good ole days. Back deck with beautiful mountain view.
The food - oh the food! They don't prepare meals everyday, so call ahead. Nothing super fancy, but the owner and her son are fantastic and creative cooks. They use as much fresh, local and organic ingredients available. I had the burger for lunch, brought half home for dinner. My friend had the chicken, and enjoyed it to the point I had to threaten harm by fork to get a sample bite!

What an unexpected delight! I happened into this wine shop (again, NOT a restaurant, TripAdvisor) while strolling around the sweet little town of Downieville and thoroughly enjoyed the company of the charming proprietor who poured an Argentine Cabernet for me -- surprising in that I don't normally care for Cabs, but this one was smooth and silky.

As we chatted, he inquired about my tastes and then shared information about a number of other wines in a very low-key and jovial manner. It's not a "tasting room" type business, but shared he typically has one white and one red open. And it's wonderful to talk with someone so knowledgeable about such a wide range of wine regions as he personally curates all his offerings which are based on the quality of what's actually in the bottle with an eye to value pricing -- obviously a winning combo! As I'm a transplant to the foothills from Sonoma County, I know my way around the difference between marketing hype for a given label vs. the pleasure of a well-made wine and welcomed his orientation of solely focusing on the end product plus its affordability.

Relaxed atmosphere, vintage vibe, and the personal warmth of this knowledgeable owner added to the delight of this destination I can highly recommend for fellow wine lovers. Not only did I leave with a bottle of the Cabernet he'd sampled for me (surprising myself), but a number of other recommendations of his too, and can't wait to try them. The modest retail prices (around $20+/bottle, the Cab was only $16) provide room for experimentation -- and I'll be back!

A limited menu but what is being offered is always really good. A family owned and operated restaurant they does every thing to make your meal as good as can be.
If not for the limited menu and hours they would get a 5 rating.
Do not get me wrong in a small town and this time of the year they offer what is practical.
I look forward to my next dining experience with JADAA'S

This restaurant just opened downtown a few weeks ago. There are not many choices of places to eat in Downieville especially if you are there mid-week. We ordered sandwiches and they were good and they came also with a side for 9.00 which seems reasonable. There is no atmosphere, two small tables, but you can take your food on a paper plate and eat in the saloon next door or the patio behind the saloon. We didn't eat the dinner entrees because we thought 25.00 per entree was a very high price for a place with few tables or atmosphere. It really is a take out place so I would say go for the sandwiches.
