Doswell is an unincorporated community in Hanover County in the Central Region of the U.S. Commonwealth of Virginia. Originally called Hanover Junction, it was located on the Virginia Central Railroad, which later became part of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad (C&O) at a crossing of the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad, a north-south route. Both railroads are now owned by CSX Transportation, although the former Virginia Central line is leased to a short-line carrier, Buckingham Branch Railroad. The area near the Doswell train station is a popular train-watching site for railfans.

Loved to find a Starbucks inside of the Kings Dominion amusement park, it was the perfect pick-me-up that I needed to keep going on a great Autumn day at the park. No line, timing must have been good when I visited. Frappuccino was made to order and my scone was delicious. Service was quick and the staff was friendly.

I have now been to this restaurant 4 times. The food and service have been consistently good. I have to say they serve one of the better burgers in the area and the sandwiches are great also. This is a great place to eat if you are in the Ashland area. I look forward to going back.

It's the same as any other Sweet Frog anywhere else, but the price is 50% higher. A small serving was $7 and a medium serving was $11. Fill the cup full and it will run around $15! For a cup of frozen yogurt with toppings! But the place is clean and air conditioned.

Passing thru and wanted to try something local. Someone suggested Lou's, said it was very good. Well it was midafternoon and not really hungry, but decided to try it anyway. We both got Lou's sampler which consist of a large fish fillet and two whole chicken wings and french fries. The fish and chicken were very good, but the fries were average at best. I got there an hour and half before buffet. Would have liked to try that. Maybe next time. I will return if in area.

With a two-story sign located on the busiest rail line in the East, The Ironhorse is an undeniable landmark in Ashland, VA. Since 1993, The Ironhorse has provided fine food and drink to locals, travelers and destination diners in the heart of Ashland. As Ashland has appointed itself “center of the universe”, The Ironhorse serves as the “restaurant at the center of the universe” where you’re always “welcome back.” The Ironhorse presents a seasonally changing, market-driven menu that features hand-cut steaks and fresh regional seafood, as well as chef-inspired nightly specials. Lunch (11:30-2:30) and dinner (5:30-10:00) are served Monday thru Saturday – with a light fare menu continuously available all day. Sunday brunch is served from 10-2:30. A welcoming Bistro on one hand, an inviting neighborhood pub on the other; Ironhorse also offers a family-friendly, casual fare menu. Dining reservations gladly taken.
Three stars this visit. Four of us for dinner. Oyster appetizers were wonderful. Two tenderloins that while tasty did not come as ordered - medium - there was no pink at all. One special, Rainbow Trout stuffed with crab, while delicious (and fully cooked) it came at room temperature, by comparison the steamed greens on the plate were still steaming. The trout was the last one so it couldn't be redone. Scottish Salmon was good. Wine and gin and tonic for drinks. Wine was good for the price, g/t was not so good even with Hendricks - 2nd visit that g/t were a bust.
Service was somewhat of a bust as well this time around. Wait staff clearly acknowledged a drink order yet didn't complete. Wait staff clearly acknowledged request for check but had to be asked again 10 minutes later.
Still a good place to eat but for the price it should have been much, much better. Definitely lower tier restaurant mistakes, hope this was an anomaly.

Rita's in Kings Dominion offers Fresh Made Italian Ice, Frozen Custard, Gelatis, Mistos and Frozen Drinks. A great treat option inside Kings Dominion.
Nicest ice and sauce ever. It really was great. We'd never had this custard ice before and it was lovely. They had lovely staff at the counter too.

A bland setting conceals a really good Mexican restaurant with an extensive menu and great prices. We had a sampler platter (very good, but so much we had to take about half home), burrito and enchilada platters. All very good with interesting salsa served with the chips. Service was quick and pleasant

WOW, $15 for what is usually a $6-$7 meal!!! Not to mention there were three tables for seating inside... Yeah, we turned around and walked right back out!!!

Southern Comfortable! Smokers are rolling every day with pork, chicken, ribs and more.
Delicious food, excellent service, and a comfortable atmosphere Jake’s knocks it out of the ballpark. All the food is good, but have smoked chicken or anything barbecue the first time you go. Desserts are homemade and my favorites part, so save room!

Serving house-made foods for 35 years something like Gran made in her kitchen. Bread for sandwiches is baked every morning. Enjoy a Turkey roll with sliced Turkey roasted in our ovens and a country ham sandwich that was voted one of the best in Virginia by USA Today. The Crab Cake Sandwich is good too or you can enjoy the best-ever shrimp salad and tuna salad. Vernell bakes deep dish pies daily and the jumbo cookie case is full of selections. Lots of sides to choose from ~~ Branden's Potato Salad, Roslyn's spaghetti salad, cucumber & tomato, black-eyed pea vinaigrette, Christine's deviled eggs etc. etc. Located on the railroad tracks in the middle of historic Victorian Ashland, you can watch the freight and passenger trains on their way north and south. You will be welcomed and treated very well.+
Heaven. Stopped in for a quick lunch because traffic on I95 was a nightmare and now I'm grateful for all the cars. The Hanover Tomato Pie was a thing of beauty. We both had a piece fresh from the oven. I had a succotash side with sweet summer corn. The whole place is darling and all the food was so amazing looking that I wish we'd had a cooler in the car so I could have brought home dinner for the family. All the sweet treats looked so good, but we were too full to indulge. Gonna go back for sure.
