Popped by on a drive from Savannah to Daytona, and we can't wait to go back! Quaint wine, cheese, and gourmet food shop in the front. In the back, an awesome, cozy, wine-tasting room. I could spend an entire day there! And what a view! From the wine-tasting room, we looked out over the sound, and we watched a storm roll in. (See unretouched photo.) We tasted several of their own wines, in addition to wine slushies. (YUM!) The manager was knowledgeable, entertaining, and generous with his selection of pours. He answered our many questions, and he helped us select purchases before leaving.
We are now planning a vacation to Darien, based solely on our experience at Waterfront Wine & Gourmet!

After supper at the wee pub, we walked over to the Dairy Queen for dessert. The ace was crowded, but not in a bad way because who doesn't like ice cream! Right? No chocolate soft serve here, but they still get a 4 for being awesome!!!

Told by family and friends... if your ever in the area...
Wow ordered seafood platter and extra baked potato. One portion feed two and lunch for takehome. Platter contained shrimp, oysters, crab cake, flounder with a potato. Literally the best weve ever had. Breading crisp and flavorful but most importantly, let the seafood flavor be the star. you have to make yourself stop eating before you hurt yourself.
if we can squeeze any time outta this trip... Id like to get back there again.
service was great, very helpful. Kept the the coffee and water full. Southern hospitality at its best.
Quality said too much already. Food great. Water tasted of well water.
Tip from local, Friday night can be a long wait. we went on a Monday, 6pm, no problems at all. Did i mention I wanna go back?

We passed through here last year and had a great meal, so much so that we planned it this trip.
There is restaurant and a bar in separate buildings. As you approach, the bar is on the right. I think that the menu is the same. We choose the bar because it has an outdoor deck overlooking the river (riparian entertainment worthy of Mrs. Bucket)
Raw oysters (you can get them cooked also) to start and then broiled shrimp were our choices this time. Oysters were fresh and large-ish and bargain priced. Shrimp were medium sized and plentiful. Folks near us were unable to finish theirs.
Wine list is nice and inexpensive as appropriate.
One warning however: Both years, people who sat next to us outside were friendly, interesting and engaging. We stayed at least an extra hour both times as we were enjoying the conversations so much. Something about sitting out there seemed to bring it out in them.
You'll see the billboards coming both north and south on I-95 but make sure you put the address in your GPS as it is not the easiest place to find.

Chef Jerome Brown, has 20 years in the seafood business. Our customers are our family members, we have over 10,000 photos on the walls of our restaurant! The Old School Diner, famous for the "Wheel Chair Platter!" - Come see why Ben Affleck says " Why ask, Trust your Chef" Carpeted parking lot? Yes we have that! A quick trip from Savannah and well worth the trip! A real Hidden Gem of the Southeast, that is a quote from Southern Living Magazine!

This is a very popular local spot in Darien next to a "Friendly Express" Minute Market, not far from the bridge over the Darien River. Nautica Joe's let other local places specialize in the fresh shrimp that abounds here. Instead, they specialize in great burgers, wraps, sandwiches, and salads. The menu features several large burgers. I had a cheddar burger with fries. The burger was large, moist, and well cooked. The crinkle cut fries were good as well. The restaurant was crowded and folks kept coming in. I can see why this remains a popular spot.

After finishing our Sapelo Island tour, we were looking for a great place for lunch. We were not disappointed! The wait staff was very friendly and the food was outstanding. The servings were plentiful and the restaurant was quite clean and cool. Again, great place to have a quick lunch.

Zio Carlo Cafe is an Italian coffee shop and cafe situated in Historic Downtown Darien, Georgia. We offer sandwiches, soups, salads with an Italian flair. We have imported Italian Desserts which pair well with our imported espresso and other coffee beverages. We are a coffee shop, and we are a restaurant. Ciao!
This little place, nicely tucked away in historic Darien is the best kept secret for coffee lovers. One would expect good and strong espresso from any Italian cafe, but their macchiatos are amazing, and you can tell they only use the best coffee beans one...MoreWe're so glad that you enjoyed your visit! Thank you for the review! Looking forward to serving you again.

Good food and excellent service. Thanks to our server, Bridgette, who was so friendly. We stayed at the RV Resort across from the Waffle House, and it was an easy walk for great food.

This is some really excellent and very authentic Mexican food. The owner/operators are very friendly and willing to accommodate all. The atmosphere is easy going and comfortable. Everything I had that evening – chips, salsa, tamale dinner, and margarita was absolutely delicious. If you are in the area you should definitely stop by for dinner. You will not be disappointed.
