This is the place we ate for breakfast while in Custer. We tried another place one morning, but ended back at this restuarant. The food was very good and big portions, and I mean big. The breakfast burrito is HUGE and the omelettes look like 6 eggs instead of 3 eggs. We had Lauren for one of our waitress and she was working herself to death but never failed to check on us. Good job Lauren!! We had another server our last morning there. Did not get his name but he was good too. The service the other days we were there for breakfast wasn't that great, but the food was still wonderful. If ever in the area again, we will definitely eat here and ask for Lauren.

Where else can you sit in the crosswinds of an old bank sipping roasted coffee from South Dakota! Americano made in the vault of the old bank. Kids had smoothies and ice cream. Highly recommend for both sweets and coffee.

We are a Chef driven restaurant, serving innovative breakfast and dinner option. Using local and fresh ingredients. While providing great customer service.
After many friends raving about Skogen, My husband and I decided to make a trip to Custer from Rapid City to try the place out. Very small restaurant, with a welcoming vibe. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated right away. Even though we were one of the two tables that night, service was wonderful. The server recommended plenty of entrees and we followed his recommendations. That night, they had a sashimi appitizer special with ponzu sauce and radishes. We also ordered the Soft Egg Ravioli, Lox and Tacos and Suckling Pig.. I can't express how flavorful every single dish was! Just AMAZING!! I will highly recommend Skogen to all of our friends and family! Custer is lucky to have such talent from their Chef. I wish Rapid City had a Skogen! We WILL return.

This was one of the best places to eat in Custer. The pies are all homemade and delicious. Chicken and buffalo pot pies are great for lunch or dinner followed by home made fruit pie and ice cream. Unfortunately they close end of September so we only got to eat there a few times.

When you are in the area of Mount Rushmore, please check out this place and get yourself a cold beer and juicy burger. What a real treat in the great Midwest. If you are ever in the area, you need to check it out.

My wife and I have been Summering in the Black Hills for 5 years now - and just happened to stop in here for some local information. We met the owners, Deb & Jim, and had a delightful visit! Deb's command of history and region was extensive... and their coffee & Mercantile goods... are for certain to come back for. Watch out for Jim tho - like the traders from the Old West... he will 'trade' for the shirt off you back! Just ask the kindly State Trooper from our home state of Michigan that we met while there... :-)

During our time in Custer, Sage Creek was always our go to. The food was always good. The service was always friendly and attentive, no matter who our server was. My favorite was their desserts. Excellent carrot cake and chocolate pot de creme. We'd go for just dessert, if we ate elsewhere. They serve only beer and wine. The place was always clean.

First off the spinach dip is delicious and comes with fresh vegetables and chips. The bourbon steak is flavored nicely and the mushroom/onion sauce is very scrumptious. Atmosphere is nice and wait staff is friendly and courteous.

We had spent the day sight seeing and came back for our 6:30 reservation in the Presidential room. We had a lovely booth with wonderful service through out our dinner. We both had tasty cocktails off the menu and the best fresh warm bread. This was followed by a a House salad with blue cheese dressing & more bread! My partner had the sirloin steak cooked just the way he asked and I had a delicious honey smoked salmon pasta dish. No room for dessert after all of that. Our experience in the State Game Dining Room was simply excellent!
