Our quaint little cafe is located on the bike trail and provides a comfortable setting for any appetite with a diverse menu that will appeal to everyone's taste.
While not gourmet it is certainly a yummy and unique restaurant. The food was really good. Homemade soups were really excellent and the menu had some really fun offerings. We had salads that were huge and super tasty - grilled corn with asparagus and pesto dressing. Creative! Loved the cheesy nan. Service was excellent.

LOCATION: A short walk from the Yough Motel, perfect location if staying there and it opens at 6 AM for the early birds!
FOOD: Delicious breakfast sandwiches - I had ham, egg, & American cheese on multigrain. Delicious. Tea selection isn't great and 1/2 and 1/2 offered is the stuff in those small pre-made cups not out of a carton. Prices were very reasonable.
SERVICE: A little slower than expected.
ATMOSPHERE: There is very limited seating inside: one table with 2 or 3 stools and then a ledge with another 2 or 3 chairs. Plenty of outdoor seating, as it's easy to tell this is a hot spot in the summers. Owner was very friendly and helpful.

Located at the entrance to the Youghiogheny Dam and near the Confluence section of the Great Allegheny Passage. We offer a delicious menu including burgers, wraps, pizzas, hoagies and salads. The soft freeze was formerly known as Suder's Soft Freeze which was in business for over 55 years. We are proud to continue offering Suder's specialties such as the Dam Boy, Dam Clucker (chicken sandwich) and Whaler (fish sandwich) in addition to our new menu. We also have a large frozen dessert menu including soft serve and hand dipped Galliker's ice cream, banana splits, strawberry shortcake, brownie delights, parfaits, Williwah's (similar to a Blizzard), sundaes and shakes. We have something for everyone.
We only ordered ice cream. We both ordered 2. Scoops of ice cream and they were huge. Well worth the price. There was only one worker on a Saturday evening about 7:00 PM. The line was long and so it took forever to get ice cream. Once we got it we couldn't find a spot that we felt was clean enough to eat at. All seating is outside beside the parking lot and along the main road. It was ok though for an outside ice cream shop.

The food is really 3 1/2 stars. Sitting on the porch, overlooking the gardens and the river, bumps this up to a 4 star review.
Menu not terribly imaginative, but familiar and comfortable. Nice selection of appetizers and salads. We started with the crab and artichoke dip, served hot with grilled flatbread. Though oddly topped with small diced pieces of cheddar cheese, it was tasty and addictive. Salads were average.
Entrees focus on steaks, pasta, and seafood. We had salmon with a light lemon caper butter sauce, and crabcakes. Salmon was good; crabcake a little disappointing - though it was mostly crabmeat, there was not much flavor to it, and a slightly tinny off taste.
Desserts not made in house. I had a carrot cake, good but straight from the refrigerator.
Service was harried and inconsistent. Prices were very fair.
If you can't get a seat on the porch, the inside is cozy and quiet, but you miss the porch view.
We left satisfied. I don't think you'll be disappointed, but don't set your expectations too high.

The town shuts down after Labor Day so choices to eat in Confluence are limited in off season. This is one place that stays open. The breakfasts are not bad but the service is slow with limited kitchen staff. Friendly staff.

I am from Maryland and own a second home in Confluence.
Have known of Shepherd's Farm -and- their restaurant for over 15 years.
It *is* a little out of the way, but well worth driving to.
.
The general menu is homestyle comfort food, reasonably well prepared.
The general menu items are not exceptional but …. are still well-prepared and good.
.
HOWEVER, besides the ice cream, the real draw is the LAMB SANDWICHES.
It starts with a real lamb-roast that has been herb-rubbed and slow roasted in their oven.
Then they carve slices to order from this roast and finish it on their grill/griddle.
Served on a warm bun with your choice of b-b-q or horseradish sauces. (I like a little of both). This IS exceptional. Yum !
You can eat inside or during mild weather eat outside on one of the picnic tables overlooking either the farm or the ancient Indian ceremonial hills to the backside of the road.
Definitely worth driving out of your way to get.
.
NOTE: The lamb comes from their own flock of sheep which can often be seen grazing on the hillside on the family farm across the road. They also sell their own lamb meat frozen in select cuts such as bone-in legs, boneless roasts, chops, etc. as well as sheets of lamb skin/hides.

Good food, friendly staff and huge servings. Came upon it by accident and wasn't sure since it looked like a bar from outside. Glad we decided to give it a try!
