Clive is a city in Dallas and Polk counties in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2010 Census the population is at 15,447. It is part of the Des Moines–West Des Moines Metropolitan Statistical Area. Clive is known for its Greenbelt Park and trail system running through the entire community. Clive serves as the axis of the western Des Moines suburbs, being located between Urbandale, Waukee and West Des Moines along the major transportation corridors of I-35, I-80 and I-235. The City of Urbandale is to the north to northwest, the City of West Des Moines is to the southeast to southwest, the City of Waukee in Dallas County is to the west.

I stepped out of my box and tried something different this visit. I had the double stuffed pork chop with apple, raisin, bourbon stuffing. This was such a big meal I did not even eat half of one of the pork chops. The pork was so moist the bourbon sauce out of this world. We had great service. I will be back when I am in Des Moines

I ordered the SK Asian Chicken Salad. I was so big!! Very tasty, but could only eat 1/3 of it!! My daughter ordered the Crispy Pineapple Chicken sandwich. She said that it tasted terrific. Of course we had to share a cheesecake. Our choice was the Caramel Pecan Turtle CC.. Yummy, and we had large take home leftovers!!

With another couple, we decided to try something different. Mi Patria is located in a strip mall near our friends home. Nothing fancy about the inside but the service was excellent and the food fantastic. Portions were very large allowing for each of us to take home leftovers. Prices were very reasonable with 4 of us eating for under $70.00(we did not order any alcohol but it is available). Will no doubt return soon.

The decor is pleasing and is one of the most appealing Thai restaurants I've dined in. The outdoor patio was really quite nice. Every member of the staff was exceptionally pleasant. My colleague ordered Larb and said it was quite delicious. I had stir fry, and while it was visually appealing, the sauce missed the mark.

Waterfront has been in business since 1984, in the hands of the same family the whole time. They pride themselves on bringing the freshest possible seafood to land-locked Iowa. Their standard menu is always good, but it's the daily specials where the kitchen shows off their skills. This trip I had a beautiful piece of mahi mahi, perfectly pan-fried, atop gnochi with jullienned vegetables in a delicious cream sauce. Prices are fair for the quality of the product and the service.

My sister- and brother-in-law--long time Des Moines area residents--took me and my wife to lunch at The Urban Grill. The restaurant is located on 86th Street near I-80. The exterior is very unassuming, but don't let that deter you from visiting for an instant! We arrived at the height of the lunchtime rush, and the place was packed, but we didn't have to wait long for a table as the staff got us settled in just a couple of minutes. The Grill has indoor and outdoor seating and a full-service bar that also has seating, both at tables and at the bar. This happened to be Restaurant Week 2017 in Des Moines, so I elected to have a four-course special: soup, entree, side, and dessert for $14.00. I ordered loaded-potato soup, blackened salmon sandwich, rice pilaf, and cheesecake. It was extremely delicious!!! My dining partners ordered the following: a cheeseburger, chicken salad sandwich, and steak salad. All reported outstanding results. The owner of The Grill, David Thompson, and his senior staff were totally hands-on, seating customers, delivering meals, clearing tables, etc. A great experience all around!!! I can't wait to return to Urbandale.

This place is amazing! Cheese enchiladas are the best I've ever had (and that includes TX & CA). Mole sauces are superb. Light cabbage slaw on most dishes is crunchy and delicious. Get the Original Margarita! Served in a personal shaker base with strainer. Enjoy!

Restaurant was recommended to us by the manager of the campground where we were staying. I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere of the restaurant when we entered. The restaurant appeared to be VERY high end, but as it turned out it was a little expensive but no so much that a family could have a meal there without breaking the bank. The food was done up very nicely. My wife had the Fettuccini with Lobster, and I had the FIlet Mignonette. Both meals were prepared right to our expectations. If you are in the West Des Moines IA area, I would highly recommend this restaurant.

My family and I love the Barrel. I love breakfast food, so this place is a must! The hashbrown casserole is savory and we enjoy their biscuits! I've never had a bad meal here. And my kids always clean their plates here which is rare!

Met a friend for dinner a couple nights ago and wished I had read reviews before we went. Have been before, but it's been several years. First off the waiter was dripping in sweat the entire time he was serving us and even coughed into his napkin he constantly had in his hand or pocket. We were not the only ones to notice this. Also, when I inquired about a gluten free menu he didn't seem to know it even existed. I had called ahead of time to make sure there was one or would not have even considered having dinner here. To add to it the service was extremely slow. Not sure if they were short staffed, but since there was a business group in a party room you would think they would have been better prepared. The food was actually very tasty, but with that kind of service combined with a sweaty rude waiter I would not recommend this place to anyone.
