This quaint little restaurant has some of the best food around. It's wood fired stoves & outdoor patio add atmosphere to this hidden gem.
You can taste the old time flavor the wood fired oven imparts on the food. If you're in the area & looking for a nice lunch, then do yourself the favor and experience Ciao for yourself.

They will make a sandwich on fresh baked Italian with any meat they have in the case...
The aroma of fresh bread!! A great little deli. We were drawn in by the smell of the bread and bought some olives, hard cheese and a sandwich to share for lunch. Around the corner is a small square in front of the Paul Revere house with benches where we sat and ate. After we ate we walked back and bought more olives, cheese and a loaf of bread to take home. I wish I lived in the neighborhood and could shop here regularly as there are many other products for cooking that I walk like in my pantry.

Bova's is on Salem Street in the North End of Boston. Seems to always be crowded but he line moves along very quickly. There is a another pastry shop on Hanover that attracts a very, very large crowd but my favorite is Bova's They offer really everything possible from an Italian bakery...and oh so great. Really a must place for that cannoli or special cookie.

We enjoyed the food--fresh fish and pasta--and the service. The beer was good as was the one mixed drink we ordered at the bar, but the drink was a little pricey for my taste. My advice--enjoy the good food and tolerable wine and skip the mixed drinks.

Based on all the reviews that I read I had to try the Italian sub at Monica’s. Great choice. This extra large sub was full of meat with cheese and toppings on a 12 inch hard roll. There was no skimping here on the fillings. They offer a variety of sandwiches as well as specialty lunch meats, cheeses, and fresh pasta. Wished I lived closer so that I could try them all.

Forget about the endless lines at Mike's Pastry. Maria's is the real deal. They serve the most delicious lobster tails in the North End. Maria's pizzelles are scrumptious. Unlike other bakeries nearby, Maria's cannolli are never filled in advance. This assures that the shell will be crunchy when you finally dig in!

Hands down the best sandwiches in Boston! Anytime I had family and friends in town, I would always recommend or take them here for lunch. Quintessential Boston sandwich shop that you MUST visit! My only caution is that this place is small and gets packed. If it is a nice day, get the food to go and enjoy it in the nearby Boston Commons or Public Gardens.

My boyfriend and I come here all the time! The food, service and atmosphere is top notch. The owners and workers are super friendly and enjoy getting to know the customers. ALSO, their steak and cheese (WITH BACON) is to die for!!!!! I never write reviews, but this was a must.

Best Ricotta Pie!
I've been here many times over the years for their Ricotta Pie to bring to all our holiday events.
I live in the northend and placed my order prior to Easter Sunday. I requested a large pie to be picked up on Easter to get the freshest pie.
It was still warm as I picked it up the morning of Easter. Everyone raves about how fresh the pie was and that it was the best one they've had in many years.
I agree, it was fresh and delicious.
I also picked up the butter cookies by the pound and I hate to say it, but they are awful. Stale, old and nothing special.
I think Market Basket makes a fresher better tasting Italian butter cookie.

I'm a cannoli purist. I like the filling simple and the shell crunchy. There were many different flavors, but I ordered 2 ricotta cannolis - one for me, one for my significant other. The woman serving us went into the back and must have filled them right on the spot. Deliciously light, fluffy ricotta filling and the shell had a wonderfully crisp crunch. Eat it right away. They don't keep (shells get soggy). Cash only!
