Burger Boy

While driving the Turquoise Trail, we stopped at this family owned restaurant where we were told that the matriarch at age age 85 still gets up daily to make the chili sauces. She and her daughter run this restaurant. We had 1/3 pound burgers with a choice of mustard, ketchup, tomato, lettuce and onions. Burgers came with choice of fries or potato chips. Food was brought to our table piping hot. We were offer free refills on our soft drinks. Inexpensive soft serve cones followed. Prices are very reasonable. The walls of the restaurant are lined with personalized coffee mugs and memorabilia. Nice stop on the trail.

Very different from any other breakfast place. You order and pay at a small counter and most food and drink is served to the table. There is a large variety of coffees, teas and natural soft drinks. Menu is small but interesting. My husband loved the breakfast burrito and I had the "special toast" with cream cheese and homemade raspberry jam.
Breakfast and lunch "all" day.

McDonald's

Reviewed By ArkansasDisneyaddict - Arkansas

We arrived about 4:30 on Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was not busy. The service was friendly, the food was typical Mc Donald's. It was not hot, it was not fresh, but it was expected. I don't go to Mc Donald's for gourmet food.

I did, however, have some real issues. Number one, I use a wheelchair. They had EVERY handicapped space blocked off for a truck. This is illegal. When I did make it in, the food was not made correctly. A McCafe iced coffee coffee was ordered, we were told they had a sugar free flavor (we order this frequently in our home area--we were traveling). They charged for the expensive flavored, ice coffee but gave her regular coffee served over ice. We could have done that. I ordered hamburgers, but they came with cheese.

Finally, the bathroom was reasonably clean but the handicapped restroom had a broken toilet paper dispenser. The lid would not stay up and blocked the toilet.

I don't expect much but I do expect to be able to get into the building, receive the food I ordered, I use the restroom.

I have visited the various “worldwide” locations all in/around ABQ and the food is consistently excellent. The menu is great since it has both southwest cuisine as well as American food and bar food. Service from the kitchen is a bit slow but the waitress was attentive and we were in no hurry, so it was all good for us!

Quaint mountain cafe with friendly staff and hot fresh food. Their signature coffee is rich and bold. The fresh homade cinnamon rolls are light and flavorful. The menu is diverse and worthy of multiple visits. This cafe is a great highway stop while going up or down the Sandia mountains to the peak parking lot or skii area that is worth the drive for a view of Albuquerque from 10,000 feet.

Trail Rider Pizza

We are a small, family owned and operated pizzeria located just east of Albuquerque in Tijeras on old Route 66. We are proud to be in our 10th year as owners and believe we are a staple in our community. Don't let our old building bother you, we are the 'Best Smelling Trailer in the World!' Each pizza is made fresh to order, hand tossed and generously topped. We offer single slices as well as whole gourmet pizzas. Choose one of our 10+ 'tried and true' combos or design your own. We also offer hot and cold subs, salads, hot wings, green Chile cheesebread, gelato and sorbet, GLUTEN FREE crust, and soups and Panini sandwiches (seasonal).

While it doesn't appear to be much, it's worth a stop to grab a slice or an entire pie from trail rider. Wasn't too sure about pizza made in a trailer but it's much like a food truck would be just with a bit more space. The prices are typical for fresh pizza with fresh ingredients. They can get busy since they provide the take out for Molly's next door. They don't take on-line orders but typically you can get through with a phone call. They have unique combinations and local names for the pizza's like Santa Fe or Taos. Not sure about why they use DWI for a pizza name but the combo on the pizza works just not the name.

Only adds about 15 min to drive between Albuquerque and santa fe. There are several places to stop if you want. The speed limit changes often. Make sure to obey especially in small towns. Madrid usually has the most people crossing or walking along the road, so go very slow through town. I've seen many people not check for traffic before stepping into the road there.

We live in Socorro and have eaten at the Crane several times. Our family just loves their food. My seven year old says the have the best tacos ever--I agree! The chips and salsa are fantastic! San Antonio is "famous" for The Buckhorn and The Owl (they are good, too), but the Crane is always our first choice.

Great local hangout. Great Philly cheese steak. Great service and server. Piping hot Jo Jo potato, crispy on the outside and perfectly fried on the inside. Price is normal like everywhere else. You get a flagged wrapper before you leave from the friendly staff. Glad is going to be near my new home.
