Folks willing to accept the short wait will be seated in front of a panoramic window onto the arena - and it's worth the wait as the steaks are really great. We watched local young women train their horses and practice their barrel racing skills which made it really fun. The three in our party each ordered different types of steaks which we can all highly recommend. Waitstaff is very fun spirited, friendly and helpful. Make sure you check out the gift shop, which has a large collection of hats, boots, and western accessories.

Mother Road Coffee is a specialty coffee house on the historic downtown square in Carthage, MO, just 2 blocks off of Route 66. We are directly across the street from the beautiful Jasper County courthouse. We offer espresso based hot and iced drinks, tea, smoothies, and assorted baked goods (selection varies daily). Soup of the day added to our menu as of September 2013. All soup is made in-house. Please see our Facebook page for today's soup.
I stop here whenever I spend the night in Carthage. The Mother Road Mocha is excellent and the old town square is very quaint with several antique stores. Thanks for making us a part of your Carthage visits. We appreciate your business!

My husband and I grew up in Carthage. We moved from the area over 30 years ago, but recently returned to the area to attend our niece's wedding. Upon leaving town to return home we stopped by Whisler's. It was amazing!
Standing there, watching the lady cooking the burgers fresh on the griddle flooded me with memories. In high school my best friend worked at Whisler's, and I remember spending many a night there, eating the hamburgers while waiting for her to get off work. The burgers tasted exactly the same. Delicious! My husband got the "Pig and Bull" with cheese which has ham on the burger. I just had a regular cheeseburger. I still remember as a child you could get 10 hamburgers for $1.00. 10 cents a piece.
I'm so glad Whisler's is still there in Carthage.

This was a wonderful place to eat plenty of great tasting food with several choices of both hot and cold. Lots of fresh fruit and salads. The dessert bar had lots of wonderful ideas to pick from. Service and staff were great and friendly and helpful. Something for everyone regardless of age.

You just can't go wrong ordering the Burnt Ends, and Pieces. Always smoked, the sauce on them is perfect without adding more. All of the sides are very delicious and fresh. This is the best BBQ I have had.

We stayed in Carthage for 2 days and ate at Carthage Family Restaurant twice. For dinner, I had the roast beef which was tough even slathered in the tasteless gravy. My husband said the burger was just okay. However, we both loved the strawberry rhubarb pie. For breakfast, I had the Homestyle Cinnamon French Toast Combo which was delicious and my husband said his pancakes were just right. The bacon was thick, crisp, and tasty.
We had the same waitress both times. At dinner, she was abrupt and somewhat rude. But at breakfast, she was almost cheerful and even joked with us a bit. About the same level of busyness both times. This appears to be a place locals as well as tourists frequent, so perhaps we just came at the wrong time for dinner.
I can definitely recommend this place for breakfast, but probably wouldn't come back for dinner.

Welcome to Iggy's Diner, a 50's - Happy Days style Route 66 Diner. Decorated walls with Route 66, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, 45's and Albums, and background music and TV. Kids Welcome. Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner. Friendly Service Good Food.
First time there and was impressed. The service was fast and friendly. I had the "Piggy Iggy" which is a burger with ham on top. It was delicious. Also came with homemade onion rings and curly fries. The onion rings are lightly battered and very good. My wife had a chocolate shake that she said was really good. I would definitely eat there again.

Don't know when ours was cooked, but it certainly was not today's ribs. We ordered the ribs for two. The ribs as soon as I seen them I knew they were not fresh today's ribs. They obviously were dry, not smokey tasting. The ribs were so dry the meat was dry falling off the rib bone . After reading all the reviews I was anxiously wanting a good rib dinner. I will say the four sides potatoes, slaw, baked beans, and fried okra was freshly prepared and very tasty.
We will not be returning. If I could give zero stars I would have.
