Authentic Danish pastries and breads. Family owned by a Danish family from Denmark that moved to Solvang in 1970 bringing with them the families bakery recipes. These recipes were created by the current owner's Great, Great, Great Grand Father. Have a great day discovering our "Danish Village."
They serve the best pastries in Solvang. Large variety, freshly baked and delicious!
Located in on the main street and in the heart of town. They open early and serve coffee and Danish. Once you try their pastries you will want to take some home with you.

This is a fabulous breakfast or lunch cafe. Everything is homemade including the dressings, soup, bread and even the chicken and Turkey. There is limited indoor/outdoor seating. The restaurant is very warm because the baking ovens are on constantly. You order at the counter and it is delivered to your table. The breads are delicious and very creative. Go early before they run out of what you want.

Wood fired ovens, craft butcher shop, real big fan
The food was amazing. Ceazar salad was perfectly dressed and was fresh. The mozzarella pizza was very tasty and was well done. My girlfriend loved the white shrimp. Prices were reasonable and service was excellent. And, you can bring your own wine without corkage fee. I would definitely go back if I am in the area.

Had a great breakfast at Ellen’s. Everything was delicious. We had the blueberry French toast, the Swedish pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and much more. Everything we all ate was very good. My husband said they have the best scrambled eggs. Definitely must try if you’re in Buellton.

Proudly offering regional, local wine with a variety of microbrews our outdoor patio is a great way to enjoy the beautfiul California sunshine. Our patio is pet friendly, we even have a dog menu!
Ate lunch here before we were able to check into our hotel. There’s a nice selection of soup, salads and sandwiches. We saw a note in the menu that sandwiches could be ordered whole or by the half but didn’t consider the half option. We will next time. Our sandwiches were huge and so good we kept eating after we should have stopped. Fresh and very tasty. The multigrain bread was very good.
You can select seating inside or out. We sat on the patio, in a lovely garden setting.
Good friendly service.

OUR STORY Birkholm's Bakery was founded by Carl "Cookie" Sr. and Charlotte Birkholm in 1950. Birkholm's has been family owned, passed from generation to generation for over 65 years. In 1980, Carl Jr. and Elizabeth Birkholm stepped in to carry on the tradition of baking in Solvang. Carl continues to use the original Danish recipes that "Cookie" brought over from Denmark. In 2011, our son Carl "Thomas" approached us wanting to learn and continue the business like his Grandfather "FarFar" and Father had done before him. Thomas is the 3rd generation of bakers in Solvang and with the Family, he is looking forward to a new beginning. Velkommen Til Solvang
There's plenty of inside and outside seating here at this quaint bakery. I had a very fresh and delicious half-sandwich and salad combo. The Turkey sandwich was fresh, on really good white bread, and a generous portion of Turkey. I had the greek salad, which didn't have many vegetables besides lettuce and a few olives, but the dressing was very good. The feta was kind of powdery. Staff was very friendly. A good place for a quick lunch in a sunny, happy place. I didn't try the pastries but they looked amazing!

We had visited before many years ago, but wanted to come back and enjoy wine with our meal. So we booked a nearby hotel. Firstly the toilets are just down right odd with curtains separating the cubicles. I didn’t find this cute or endearing, just weird. Secondly the server managed to get both our salads wrong. Not difficult In that we having exactly the same meal. Thirdly the salad and dressing were the blandest I’ve possibly ever had out. They were just lack luste4 and I couldn’t have told you which dressing it was if I hadn’t have ordered it. Now on to the steak, it was fabulous, perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth. I had gone for the steak, so wasnt disappointed with that, but I feel there living on their reputation and it felt like they didn’t need to make an effort with the salad. That said I still have it very good but for me the other things let it down from getting the top score. Let’s face it, it’s not cheap and in my opinion should provide a bette4 all round experiences

Serving classic American breakfast and lunch in addition to our worldly famous Danish pancakes.
Great spot for breakfast in walking distance of our hotel. The fresh strawberries were delicious. Try the Danish pancakes. I didn’t like their special “house” sausage but loved the regular breakfast sausage (had a little spice) Very busy, bring a newspaper.

We stood in here and bought an almond cringel, shaped like a giant pretzel, as a hostess gift for family we were visiting. It was absolutely delicious, people could not stop snacking on it. It was a filling of almond and creme. After we left my brother asked for the name of the bakery and drove 40 minutes to get another one! I just saw you can order off their website they'll ship it to you

If you want freshly baked pastries then walk over to Mortensen's. Even waiting in line makes your mouth water from the deliciously sweet smelling of all the variety of baked goods. Once it's your turn to decide you almost want to purchase all of the wonderful pastries that are displayed. But, choose wisely or come back again like we did.
