Starting with a snowball stand in 1932 until today, Richard & Lori Hurst are carrying on the family tradition. From St. John Street to on the River, to nestled in the woods, now with two full service restaurants, Poor Boy's Riverside Inn's and Little River Inn's seafood and steaks have remained consistently delicious for over 80 years. Richard and Lori and their loyal staff hope you taste not only delicious Cajun food, but the pride that goes into every dish! The oldest restaurants in Acadiana with a great wine and dessert selection, kid friendly and great atmosphere with a third generation husband and wife team ready to serve and where you'll always find the locals.
We have been going to the Riverside Inn since my wife and I were dating back in the 1970's. This has always been an outstanding restaurant. Last time we visited Riverside my daughter made a comment about how her meal was not very good. Ours was good but we thought maybe they just had an "off day".
Last night we were there for my mother-in-law's 85th birthday with a party of 8. Riverside is/was her favorite restaurant and 85th birthdays are special. She selected the venue so we were all going to be there.
Two of us ordered Crab Meat Au Gratin at $26. Now I love this meal and in the past Riverside had a good one. Last night they wasted lots of good crabmeat. The sauce and cheese was horrible. The cheese tasted like processed american cheese.
My brother-in-law ordered crabcakes which is a Riverside Inn specialty. They were burnt! He told the waitress and she apologized but did not offer to take them back.
My sister-in-law had a steak at the recommendation of the waitress. She asked to send it back because it was bad. The waitress instead took half off the price on the bill.
Seven out of eight people agreed that the meal was not good. My portion of the bill for three of us was $100 with the tip. The evening before we had gone to another fine restaurant in town and for $86 we got a far superior meal.
I felt bad after my daughter said she didn't really want to go, but she had to since it was her grandmother's 85th birthday. All I can say after last night is that there will be no more celebrations at Riverside Inn. So sad because this is a restaurant we have all loved for years.

Authentic French bakery, with so many choices it will make your head spin. We finally selected two king cakes (very good), cream puffs (excellent), a chocolate croissant (yum), a napoleon (outstanding, my favorite), a loaf of bread and some dinner rolls. We highly recommend everything. The staff was lovely, too. A simple place, packed with perfectly-prepared delectable pastries and breads. Don't miss it. Time to splurge.

We stop often to grab a cup of coffee, always great service and my latte just like back in Seattle. It's reassuring to know the quality will always be what you are use to.

the staff were superb and friendly. We had boiled crawfish. They were early in the season, but were seasoned just right. The folks from out of town had difficulty peeling the crawfish, but that was to be expected. We helped them thru the process, but when they gave up, we finished them off.

Come in and enjoy "Swamp Edge Cuisine". We are now open 7 days a week.
Coming from Scotland on vacation I had planned to eat here while driving through on our roadtrip. I wasn’t disappointed! The place is a typical bar/grill with friendly service and a great atmosphere. We were served by Cindy who couldn’t have been more helpful recommending some great dishes. I had the crawfish pie with pastry and my wife the Cajun chicken. Both dishes were excellent, freshly prepared and probably the best of our trip to date. For desert we shared a banana bread loaf (large enough for two!) and of course our half price wine which was lovely. Can’t recommend this place enough..... give it a try!

LT's was recommended by the Hampton Inn for a good, casual meal. What a find! The Shrimp La-la was great, but was beat by the Eggplant Pirogue. The eggplant had such a light batter and it really let the other flavors shine.
The waitstaff was so friendly-I sat at the bar and was warmly welcomed. I'm so glad I went!

The greatest date night place or special occasion restaurant. This is the most romantic restaurant in all of Acadiana. Linen tablecloths, great service and fantastic food. This place just makes me feel happy and comfortable. The prices are reasonable too. Everything is made from scratch even their salad dressings. The menu is a mix of Seafood and Italian. You must try the veal Oscar. Also the fried eggplant appetizer is perfection.

Great food and sit under huge oak trees to enjoy a quick lunch. Don't expect fine dining, but a relaxing escape to the day.

My wife and I had passed this little shack of a BBQ joint many times and always said that we needed to try it. Well, one night after we'd already eaten at a nearby restaurant, we passed up East Gate BBQ, and said it again. I turned to her and suggested that we go back and get a few meats to sample, so we did. We got 1/2 lb of brisket, 1/2 lb of pulled pork, and 1/2 lb of their homemade sausage. Let me tell you... it was fantastic. Not only was the meat savory and smokey flavored. Their homemade sauces were fantastic! I went back and bought enough meat for a family gathering, and it did not disappoint! I talked to the guy that handed out my order, and he said that all their cooking is done over real wood flame, or smoke from real wood smoke. No charcoal or gas burners are used. All their sides, bbq beans, potato salad, etc. are made fresh by them, not purchase pre-made. I haven't tried the sides, but if they're as good as the meats... they'll be great!

The plate lunches were sold out by 1:30, so they must have been good. Settled for the sandwich of the day- chicken Caprese. The half sandwich probably had more than a whole chicken breast sliced in it, with mozzarella and mixed greens and tomatoes. Great food at a low price!
