Calling themselves "the soul of the coast," the residents of Boothbay Harbor are proud of their seaside town, with its bright summer colors and beautiful snowy winters. A popular sailing and kayaking destination, Boothbay offers more than just boats. There's delicious seafood, seasonal festivals, and plenty of nature trails to explore. Kids will love visiting Fritz, the 23 pound lobster at the Maine State Aquarium, while adults enjoy jazz concerts or comedy shows at the historic Opera House.

We were in BoothBay Harbor over Columbus Day weekend, having dinner at McSeagull's when a lovely couple sat down at the bar next to us and said Hello, asked us where we were from. People are always so friendly. We mentioned that we were going to Downeast Ice Cream for our dessert for a delicious hot fudge sundae with the best coffee ice cream after dinner and they said "so sorry, we own the ice cream shoppe and we just ran out of ice cream for the season, closed a few minutes ago". We didn't get our sweet treat that night, but it was such a pleasure to meet the lovely couple that own the shoppe and are responsible for the great friendly staff who work there, the wonderful atmosphere when you walk through the open door and the BEST homemade hot fudge sauce made by the very sweet lady who owns the shoppe.
We will look forward to our first sundae in the 2018 season and hopefully see the owners there next summer. Happy Winter season off.....you both deserve a break.

Again, Trip Advisor won out! We ordered a full order of the friend haddock and fries to share. ($18)...with our cold bottled water from the vending machine out back.. Lots of delicious tarter sauce and some cocktail sauce made our shared meal the absolute best!!! very very casual and clean and delicious while sitting on the picnic benches to the left and rear of Bet's Fry shack. Parking was where we could find it. THE BEST!!!!

I wanted a hot cup of coffee, so I went in and was not disappointed. There were a few brews to choose from and the staff was real nice.

Locally owned and operated, Shannon's Unshelled delivers a traditional lobster roll on-the-go. Conveniently located at 11 Granary Way, in the heart of downtown Boothbay Harbor, we greatly value our customer's satisfaction by providing a fresh, quality lobster roll at an affordable price! Customers are sure to enjoy the stunning ocean view atmosphere, friendly service, and the tight knit community of Boothbay Harbor Maine.
Just plain exceptional.
They don't mess around here! These hard working ladies make it happen & we were the happy recipients! The lobster chowder was outrageously flavorful, rich yet not fatty, full of flavor, w lots of sweet lobster as the star. Their lobster roll was what a lobster roll should be, but unfortunately we rarely get. The ratio of lobster vs roll is important. If all you want is lobster, then order just lobster. Same with clam chowder; if all you want are potatoes, order a potato. Same for clam fritters; if all you want are clams, get clams. You feelin' me here? It's about ratio, texture, flavor, portion. A gargantuan lobster roll isn't what I'm after. I want fresh sweet warm lobster drizzled with butter & nestled between a fresh buttered (appropriate) roll w a slight grilled crunch that I can hold w/out it all falling out. It's harmony of components yet where the lobster shines. Shannon's has nailed that for me (and apparently the rest of you)! Thank you ladies for serving impeccable food with a smile and fair price. BRAVO!

Um, three words: HOT WAFFLE SUNDAES!
Definitely a must stop if you are in Boothbay Harbor! Icecream and food options are available.
I ordered their "Christmas in July" special which was a hot waffle with peppermint stick icecream topped with hot fudge and Oreos!
Best icecream I've ever had :) can't wait to go back!

Come and explore the cuisine of the Ports of Italy from our cozy restaurant on the waterfront in Boothbay Harbor.
Homemade everything. Expensive but then so is everything in this tourist town. Went with a party of six. Everyone ordered something different and everyone loved their food. The decor isn't snazzy so the money must go into the food. If you like Italian food, you'll like this place.

This ice cream stand serves a wide variety of ice creams and frozen delights. Gifford ice cream is simply the best and the ice cream stand has friendly, helpful staff. There are picnic tables available for those wanting them. A definite place to visit and enjoy!

We had fantabulous weather and visiting Cabbage Island for a clambake made it even sweeter. What a perfect day we had! The food was phenomenal, staff hard-working and attentive, and the family hosts were super-personable!..If you are visiting Boothbay on a glorious day; a visit with cabbage island clambakes cannot be missed. It is quintessential Maine...Thank you to the family who owns a slice of heaven and shares it with us ! (You can text me anytime if you need an island sitter )

We went here three times during our stay in Boothbay Harbor! We tried another place down the road and it didn't compare. The flavors are so true and fresh here. The Maine Blueberry is my favorite. So refreshing, and not overpowering with sugary sweetness. Don't miss this little place! Very close to the Dock with all the boats.

The Blue Moon Cafe serves breakfast and lunch 7 days a week and is conveniently located on Commercial Street right on the water. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating overlooking scenic Boothbay Harbor. The atmosphere is casual and we serve fresh and creative food at reasonable prices. Several of the Cafe’s specialties include, Fresh Baked Muffins, Cinnamon Pecan Crusted French Toast, Homemade Corned Beef Hash, Breakfast Burritos, Maine Lobster Rolls, Haddock wraps, Reubens and Crab Quesadillas. We also serve beer, wine and spirits so you must try one of Fred’s Most Excellent Bloodies which are always a favorite for Sunday Brunch. On Sundays we serve Lobster and Crab Benedicts as well as special seafood omelets. Please contact us about hosting a private dinner party on our gorgeous deck for 10 or more people. It is super reasonable.
This tiny place is a masterpiece of concept and design. Then menu and space are limited, but created with maximum efficiency in mind. The result is friendly and intimate. It doesn't hurt that the setting is spectacular, the food even better, and the staff exudes friendliness. I can't think of a way to improve this lovely little place. Please don't franchise it! (Arguably the best blueberry muffin I've ever had.) Oh, and the prices are very fair.
