This is the worst DQ I've ever eaten at. The food is subpar, if you even get what you ordered. The drive thru asks that you pull to the window to order then wait for your food at the end of the building to be brought to you. This wouldn't be so bad if not for the permeating smell of stale grease. I had to go inside to get napkins and ketchup that wasn't included in my box. Ketchup for old fries was pointless. I come to this town often for business and have stopped here three times...third times a charm.

We stopped in Big Lake for lunch, on our way from San Angelo to Ft. Davis on vacation. Could not have been more pleased with everything about Sugar Creek. The steak fingers, mashed potatoes, gravy, and fried okra exceeded all expectations and hit the spot by fulfilling the mental "need" for how we remembered Momma cooking when we were growing up in West Texas. Mmmmm, mmmmm. Yummy! Drinks were served in big ol' Mason jars - no refills needed.
Then the waitress gave us to-go drinks as we were leaving. Sugar Creek is featured in a recipe book about Restaurants on the Back Roads of Texas. We bought a copy and highly recommend the book. Also bought some delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies on our way out. Fun little place full of small-town charm. Looked like a place the locals love, too, as almost every table was occupied. If you're ever in Big Lake (remember the movie The Rookie?), stop at Sugar Creek Grill.

It's a long way between eating places in West Texas, and we hit this truck stop with relief, but not with high expectations. We were pleasantly surprised to find an extensive range of lunch options: nice-looking salads and pizzas, corn dogs, egg rolls, pastries, hot dogs and hamburgers, etc., etc., etc. The place was full of truck drivers and guys I assume were oil field workers. (My wife may have been the only woman who wasn't behind a counter.) We went for the Taco Bell which was part of the establishment and got a standard TB taco salad -- always acceptable in our experience. The cashier was extraordinarily friendly and helpful. When he thought our order wasn't coming fast enough (we had no complaint) he went back and checked on it, told us it was coming soon and to have a seat. Shortly, he brought it to us and even got us napkins and tableware. His attitude was wonderfully upbeat and cheerful and we left the place feeling good about Taco Bell and Texas.

Sometimes a person doesn't get much in some of these small town cafes, but this one was a real blessing. The service was excellent, the food was good, and the prices were great. I will return.

Food wasn't too bad, could've been better could've been worse. It was hot and fresh but not really a lot of options for add-ons. Kind of just a plain burrito with meat cheese and beans. Service is OK. Place is kind of a dump.

Friendly service. The woman behind the counter was welcoming and had a nice conversation with me. I ordered the migas plate and it came out within 10 minutes. It was plenty of food for me alone, and I shared some with my mother as well. Overall, I would return and recommend this place to others visiting this tiny town in West TX.
