The place was filled a little after twelve today. Business people, travelers and retirees seemed to make up the clientele.
Service was fast and soon a steaming hot burger was set in front of me. It is said that Fletcher Davis invented the hamburger. The sandwich had a snappy flavor with a hint of being charred.
I will stop again the next time I pass through.

With tables, chairs, and decorations from a flea market and a handful of family recipes, The Cherry Laurel opened its doors in 1990 by two best friends. With their husbands and six kids between the two of them, Bonnie Wilson and Linda Ingram set forth to transform a dilapidated house into a cozy restaurant that beckoned their patrons' return. Offering homemade soups, salads, and sandwiches, The Cherry Laurel gave the citizens of Athens, Texas a casual and unique dining experience. The Cherry Laurel also became a staple dessert provider for the Athens area. In 1997, a local bakery owner announced her retirement, but her loyal customers didn't want to lose such a wonderful resource for birthday and wedding cakes. Upon contacting Bonnie and Linda, The Cherry Laurel Bakery came to be. They perfected the amazing Butterum cake: moist and flavorful, it isn't just an ordinary yellow cake. Patrons drive up to two hours to Athens just to have a Butterum cake for a special occasion. Until 2000, Bonnie and Linda were both high school teachers. One at a time, they both chose to commit to The Cherry Laurel full time, at which point the restaurant and bakery were combined into one building. The attention from both owners allowed for The Cherry Laurel to dive headfirst into the ever-promising catering business. Booked up to months in advance, The Cherry Laurel custom caters events for up to 500 people.
We stopped here to pick up lunch on a Saturday. We got a sandwich and a salad. Both were amazingly fresh and tasty. The salad was their grilled chicken salad, and the dressing for it tasted homemade, some sort of honey mustard balsamic vinaigrette. It was divine! We didn't get any baked goods, but they did look good!

Sorry McDonald's...these fries are fresh and absolutely delicious. I bought a hamburger for a man who never gives compliments, but he raved about this burger. You win an award for that alone. ?#braumsrule #missingthosefries

Did a search for a breakfast place. This place was highly rated, but they did not serve eggs. It has a small dining room and looks very inviting for lunch or a snack. We used to do eggs..but just didn't have enough customers wanting them..so we stopped offering. I'll talk with staff to see if they have had others asking..thanks for you're input K. Callaway

I really like the carne asada that they serve with their Mexican dip. It's a spicy butter concoction that is awesome. Their green sauce is good too. Try it.

I've lived in Athens 20 years now and Daylight Donuts was here then and though I tried a couple of other donut joints as they popped up, I always come back to Daylight.
The place I worked regularly (4 times a year) supplied the staff with donuts during hectic times and I always would take 2 or 3 with me from the break room as I knew there would not be any later. Warm from the oven---melts in your mouth. Ahhhhh

There are so many Mexican restaurants in Athens. This is one of the best! New/remodeled building with nice staff! Not a lot of room for parking. But the food is always good and the salsa is excellent

Went by myself after Church this Sunday & decided on Sundays Special...The Turkey Dinner.
It was really good & it came with a very nice & very generous portion too. It was plated with an adequate amount of cranberries which essential. The Turkey, dressing & gravy was all very good! I chose mashed potatoes, squash casserole and corn as sides. I left with no room for desserts. Don't wait till Thanksgiving for your Turkey Dinner...it's waiting just for YOU at The Patch this Sunday!

Roma italian dine in and catering
I've been eating here for years. The food is excellent. Try the cannelloni, spaghetti bolonese, tuna wasabi, and chicken genovese. I have eaten at chains and mom and pops all over Texas and this is the best Italian.
