Small unique restaurant run by the chef/owner and wife. Wonderful selection of starters and entrees. Bread pudding with coconut anglaise is a winner. Wine selection is small but completely compliments the menu. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. By far my favorite restaurant in Manchester for one or two couples.

I don’t give out many 5 stars but this us one. The ice cream was great. Some flavors sell out on busy days as they make small batches daily. Some of the chocolate looked great. We'll worth the stop. Be careful backing out or pull in at an angle for easier exit.

Went here twice for breakfast while in town for a wedding. Great food, great prices. But don't be in a hurry! Wait staff, at least at breakfast time, is pretty slow (but very friendly).

I decided to "test drive" West Mountain Inn before taking visitors there for dinner and am glad that I did. The dinner prices suggest that West Mt. considers itself upscale and it's web site touts the restaurant as a farm-to-table experience. I experienced neither during my visit. The Caprese appetizer, indeed had familiar Maplebrook mozzarella (yum), but was paired with a pale, tasteless hot-house tomato - almost unforgivable in mid-summer. Yes, it has been rainy and cool, but a trip to any farmer's market would find better vegetables. Also, the portion was surprisingly small for a $9 appetizer. I ordered the crab cakes (violating my own "don't order seafood in land-locked places" rule) and they were so mediocre they almost weren't worth eating - under-seasoned, too much filling and poor quality crab meat. The pork chops were dry and uninspired, but this was overshadowed by the sad fingerling potatoes that were at one time probably recognizable as a potato but came to the table over cooked, dry and shrunken.
The dining room was pretty empty except for three other tables occupied by people staying at the inn (and now I know why). The inn and dining room were pleasant but our waiter was not knowledgeable about the food and pretty much disinterested in serving it. All in all the dining experience was.. well, sad and depressing. No way was this a place I would bring friends to experience Vermont dining at it's best - or even second best - particularly since the prices rivaled a decent restaurant in NYC.
What I saw of the inn was nice and the garden and grounds were lovely. It would be worth a trip to West Mountain to have a cocktail in the bar or maybe a slice of pizza on Saturday night (but I didn't haven't had the pizza so this is just a suggestion not a recommendation).

What a lackluster first impression. Waiter is a percy-lipped balding gentleman who is clearly out of his element. Although there was a set menu, he was terrified by the notion that there was someone with special dietary needs who was unable to order from the set appetizer selection. He did not have the wear withal to think outside the box. The shrimp cocktail was nothing special. Perhaps the waiter should be washing dishes and the dishwasher waiting tables. Ugg. Never again.

One of the best grinders I have ever had. Over 18 ounces of meat/cheese and so much flavor! Likewise, we created our own pizza and loaded it up with 7 toppings (mostly fresh vegetables) and thoroughly enjoyed it for dinner and lunch the next day. Great crust and the fresh vegetables really make the difference. Nice people and definitely a great local business. Highly recommend if in the mood for pizza and hot subs.

The prices might seem a bit high, but once you see the size and quality of their sundaes, you'll understand why!

The Restaurant features the Panther's renowned gourmet farm-to-table cuisine and offers a sophisticated dining experience that is among the highest rated in New England. The Patio Raw Bar is open seasonally offering Al Fresco dining for dinner in a less formal atmosphere. With views over the gardens and Mount Equinox, the Patio is a picturesque venue for a casual dinner. The Panther Pub is open for special events, private group dining and receptions and offers an intimate private dining or meeting experience.
Been to this establishment twice for dinner during 2 different seasons over 1-2 years. Management responses uneven both times. Dining room was half empty during busy season, tipping us off...waitstaff pleasant and knowledgeable, but food was overhyped--not terribly imaginative. Wine list poor. Overall dinner experience substandard compared with other establishments in this popular tourist destination. Small bar cute but recently visited there for a drink. Wine list has gone downhill and the prices uphill, the bar wreaked of cigarette butts, and the bartender not attentive. New management with an overly attentive general manager. Not a good experience. Have not stayed overnight, but the room prices are very high for the region. Several other choices with better dining/drinking experience nearby.

Cooper Grouse is Restaurant + Bar in Vermont near the historic town of Manchester, featuring regionally inspired dishes, classic cocktails & craft beers.
The Copper Grouse is in the Taconic Hotel, just down from The Equinox. Very nice upscale bar with real fireplace and several TVs. Nicely appointed combo of bar, high tops and tables. Friendly service. Nice craft beer and reasonable wine list. Tasty sriracca chicken wings...MoreThank you for taking the time to write such a positive review. Our chef is working on expanding the menu and will have many new offerings starting this spring. We look forward to welcoming you back as a guest and earning another star!
