We recently stopped at Duane's for lunch during our week on the island of Kauai on the recommendation of friends. We were not disappointed! Despite looking like a little hole-in-the-wall shack on the side of the road, Duane's offer a large selection of burgers and sides available at a reasonable (for Kauai) prices. Plenty of parking and seating (outdoors). This is the only restaurant I've ever eaten at where we had to shoo the chickens off of the table first. Fun and unique!

We are an organic juice bar featuring cold press juices, smoothies, acai bowls, shave ice, coffee and popsicles
This place came highly recommended to us from two different people who knew who spent time in Kauai. Wasn't really sure what to expect but it blew my mind!!! The "next level" acai bowl was so fresh and so flavourful. We drove way out of our way two more times to return and get it. I will be dreaming of this bowl for the rest of my life!!

Java Kai is a small coffee shop and cafe offering breakfast and lunch. Awesome açaí bowls, breakfast burrito, pulled pork sandwiches, etc. We went here 3 times during our 5 days on Kauai. The employees are very friendly too. Definitely a place to check out.

This is probably the best kept secret (maybe not so secret) place for shaved ice on the island. We had it three times during our week long visit. It is cheap ($6), huge!, and comes with a scope of ice cream on the bottom. It really is the only way to eat shaved ice.

If you haven't had Huli Huli chicken, stop and go get some. This is one of the few places on the island that does it right. On the side of the road! They're cooking the chickens right there in front of you. Not trying to hide anything at all. The guy has been doing it for a long time. Stop by and talk to him. He partners up with an older German lady. She sells the rest of the bbq plate. An ample amount of sprout salad with a homemade papaya dressing, a brown rice medley and of course the chicken. Local people doing what they love to do. Prices are very reasonable. No bathrooms, the sink is a water hose, and two tables if I remember correctly. I could be wrong and it may be three.
A little side note. We were there one morning, and this little girl stood in line, waiting to buy the chicken. After she got it,she ran back to her family, which were also located in the area, (assuming they're locals). Maybe five minutes passed, and she came back with about 5 other kids, wanting more. Thats how great of a place this is.

Established in 2003 this family owned business continues to offer healthy fast foods to all. The Moloaa Sunrise Fruit Stand and Juice Bar fills the void for hungry travelers as the only food establishment between Anahola and Kilauea on the northeast corner of Kauai. Conveniently located on the ocean side of Kuhio Highway at Koolau Road, between mile markers 16 and 17, it is the only commercial establishment in the agricultural district of Moloaa. The Fruit Stand not only offers locally grown seasonal fruits and veggies (many of which are raised organically), they make fresh juices, salads, smoothies, and sandwiches. Their grilled foods, featuring burritos and tacos, are sure to please. Their fresh made coffee and espresso round out their offerings. Summer hours for the Moloaa Sunrise Fruit Stand and Juice Bar are: Monday through Saturday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, and Sunday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Enjoy picnic-style outdoor seating or take-away for your beach adventure.
This little stop right off the highway always seems to have cars no matter what the time so today we checked it out. It sells fresh fruit such as banachiku, lychees & longans, nas, tangerines, and something different for us.named chiku, lychees & longans, We also bought some juice for the road. We realized they hada full menu I had a salad of local kale, mac nuts, raison, carrots,& a lemon dressing. My wife ordered a fish burrito with blackened Ahi, mozarella cheese, black beans, and zucchini. They also had a veggie burrito. This place is a real surprise. The food was great. Don't just pass it up like we had done in the past, no more.

My wife & I had lunch at Anahola Cafe and Saimin Stand on Sunday 24 July.
We have been going to this roadside eatery for several years. See my previous reviews: 5/5/2015, 12/17/2014, 5/9/2014 & 11/22/2013.
I always order the extra-large special Saimin and I am never disappointed. I would say the latest owners’ incarnation is quite good, but I would personally opt for more vegetables (greens) at the expense of some of the noodles. The BBQ pork in my bowl had a slight off taste of pork that has been frozen too long – but a little hot mustard made that all better. Also, I thought the broth was a tad too salty – and I am a salt-shaker shaker.
I suggest the new owner switch back to the traditional style hot Chinese mustard. The bottle of hot mustard on the table was OK, but not as good as the traditional style.
The young girls bussing and cleaning the tables were doing an excellent job.
I wish the new owner a prosperous future and will return to enjoy another bowl of Kauai’s soup treat.

OK. Maybe keep your socks on but be prepared to be amazed at the range and quality of what they serve here. They offer an Asian fusion using local ingredients. (And some not local.)
From a recent menu: Duck and lobster lumpia, Poached scallop ravioli, and Polenta crusted diver scallops with Vietnamese passion fruit.
We took advantage of the early dinner with wine pairing. The wine pairing was only $10 and perfectly complemented the courses.
Don't try to show up without a reservation.
This is another restaurant we visit every time we come to Kauai.

The best shave ice I have ever had! And I’ve had it on 3 other Hawaiian islands. The fresh fruit is such a treat!! I am still craving the pina colada! Tried to go back again today but they must have closed early due to the rain.

Food, service, the view , everything was wonderful : our family had as appetizers the Adam's poke nachos and calamari and as entrées filet mignon, pasta of the day, Nairagi(marlin) and the prime ribs just delicious. We enjoyed very much our last dinner in Kauai. One note : since we were sitting outside , there were mosquitos , so we mentionned to our server and she brought us some insect repellents.
