My husband and I travel the I-55 corridor to New Orleans from St. Louis at least twice a year. This was our first stop at Mike's Catfish Inn and we were so pleased. Typically was have stopped in Manchac at Middendorf's. The quality of their food has declined over the years, so we gave this eatery a try and we were glad we did. My husband had the po'boy, half oyster, half shrimp. He said the shrimp was better than the oysters. It was huge and he also had enough french fries to feed three people. I ordered the lunch special, catfish with a side and salad bar. All of it was great. I don't usually eat fried food because of it's greasiness. This catfish was fresh, nicely fried and not greasy at all. My meal was perfect with the catfish, a yummy baked potato and the simple salad bar. We arrived around 12:30 and we were seated immediately. We were in and out of the restaurant within 45 minutes. Service was great! We will be back.

This place is real close to my temporary work location. I heard about it from some local folks and looked it up on this site. There were a few reviews that made it sound pretty good. Well not today. Walked in at 7am observed very few donuts in their display. I choose the apple fritter which was pretty small compared to other donut places I've been. It cost $1.85. I drove 2 minutes to my office. My first impression when I removed it from the bag that it was hard and cold. My first bite told me it was not fresh. It was dry, stiff and chewy. The flavor was missing along with any apple taste. I think it was left over from yesterday. This is my first poor rating given to anyone. I like to be as fair as possible but sorry you didn't impress me with this product. To be fair I will give you one more try before I leave town.

Located in the heart of downtown Amite, The Boston Restaurant serves a variety of delicious dishes in a restored historic building which was once the home of the original "Boston Restaurant" in the 1800s. A local hotspot, our seafood, steak, and sushi is prepared by our talented chefs who use the freshest ingredients to serve you a delicious meal!
We enjoyed our Sunday lunch at the Boston. We ordered several appetizers including fried pickles, crawfish pie, and pepper jack cheese sticks. They were all very tasty. They do have a little kick to them (spicy). The service was a little slow, but they were all very nice and seemed to be doing the best they could because they were packed. This was our first visit and I'm sure we'll go back at some point to try their entrees.

Arrived at around 4pm the place appeared empty and the staff was sitting around chatting. I was noticed and someone came over and seated me. I changed booths when I observed someone I was working with eating by herself. We were the only ones in the restaurant. I ordered their Quesada Vera Cruz with grilled chicken. It was delivered fairly quickly and looked pretty good. It tasted oaky but wasn't very hot just warm at best. Going to come back for a Marguerite and try something else on the menu.

Since I'm in Louisiana for awhile I'm going to try different places to eat. I selected this location based on some old reviews and decided to check it out. This is a combination drive-thru and walk-in restaurant where you order from the counter like any fast food establishment. I ordered my omelet and side of hash browns which they delivered to my table within 5 minutes. The restaurant is showing its age and clean. The posted picture gives you an idea of bad presentation when breakfast was served. The food was hot and tasted fine. I will not return since I prefer a sit down, menu ordered breakfast that comes on a plate with metal forks and spoons. I hope someone else can review their other items.

Great home made, hand made juicy burgers, with crispy fries.Definitely worth the wait. Cold, salty great tasting oysters, and good and cold beer of all kinds. Love the classic rock on the juke box, and the atmosphere is laid back, and hometown friendly. Cant wait to go back there next time im in Amite, Louisiana, definitely worth the drive.

Although they serve burgers, etc. I have come here only for the ice cream. It is a good place to bring grandkids. They serve good ice cream including sundaes, etc.
The only problem I have found is limited hours. We visited once at 11:00 am and found they don't open til 12:00 noon. Another time we stopped by about 10:00 pm on a Friday evening and found them closed.

We use to give the owner's a lot of business because they're friendly people. We couldn't stand the greasy and cheap food they started to serve. The buffet food is always cold and the same miserable things. There's mexicans in the kitchen who look rather nasty when they appear in the buffet area placing food in. One also harassed over somebody leaving a plate on the buffet. Save the trouble and go to hammond.
