Amesbury is a city in Essex County, Massachusetts, located on the left bank of the Merrimack River near its mouth, upstream from Salisbury and across the river from Newburyport and West Newbury. They have really good pizza that is cooked in a wood fired oven. They have a very good selection of beers and the service is top notch. Mostly local people and they really support the community. A great experience!

Local independent ice cream shop, great prices, enormous portions. what's not to love? Try the kidde cone if you're looking for a smaller size, but you'll still need to share it with someone.

This is a small shop located off of the main square in Amesbury. Its main product is unique types of chocolate which are made in the shop. The variety and style depends since the owner makes many standard types and some unique ones at various times. These chocolates are some of the best I have ever tasted. They also have some local bake goods available with their coffee. There coffee is locally roasted and available in bean form for home brewing. We buy our Sumatran coffee there for our home. The place is small with only a few pub tables to sit but most people don't hang there. It is worth a stop.

Move over Ben and Jerry's, Hodgies has you beat. It may not be what you expect as Hodgies has removed all artificial coloring (so what if the mint chocolate chip is not that bright green color you are used to), the flavors are incredible. Be aware, the cones sizes are huge. I usually get a quarter kiddie cone. So pay attention or you may get much more than you might expect, but plan to be pleased with the results. There are no bad choices at Hodgies.

My wife and I went to Port City Sandwich in Newburyport MA on Labor Day 2017. The menu was extensive with intetesting choices. I got the four cheese grilled cheese sandwich- cheddar, swiss, american and provolone. The sandwich was not melted enough and it tasted like just a glob of cheese. You could not taste any one cheese.
My wife got the southwestern wrap. I tried a bit of hers and it was good but a little too spicy but I am a wimp when it comes to spicy food.
I would definitely try them again. They were very busy when we went in and they have so many choices.

Line is long, but service is quick. Great bakery selection - love the Andy bar for a sweet treat. The asiago bagel is great - but get it early cuz it's also very popular. The garlic & herb cream cheese is a garlic lover's dream!

A unique brick building w/tin ceilings set within a neighborhood. Formerly an appliance store, there is a cut out in the wood floors where the lift use to be to bring items up from or down to the basement.
My family recently gathered at Phat Cat's for a birthday celebration... and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. With a reservation, we were seated immediately.
The atmosphere is funky - a cross between rustic and 19th-century industrial. The service is friendly and attentive... and the food is superb. The restaurant is helmed by a husband and wife team. He's the chef and she's a baker. This makes for a delightful meal from start to finish.
House-made bread was followed by appetizers: mussels, calamari, and a bleu cheese dip. The portions were generous, but all three disappeared quickly. The menu offers something for everyone - from burgers to seafood to pasta. Daily specials were also tempting. The seven dishes we ordered were all excellent.
Desserts are all house-made - including the ice cream! - and well worth the effort. We tried five, and all were hits.
I only get to the Amesbury area every year or so... but I'm already planning to have dinner at Phat Cat's on my next visit. This restaurant is a real gem.

Can't miss with a stop in here. A local place with a sporty atmosphere but not rowdy. A wait is well worth it - generally quick turnover. Fancier places in town but none with just plain dependable good food at very reasonable prices. Nice selection of draft beer. Make sure you check out the 'specials' - I wish some were always on the menu. Don't let the parking lot turn you off - you will find a space.

This place is great. Warming and inviting. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we felt welcomed and relaxed. I had called earlier in the week to make a dinner reservation in the dinning room. If you get there early enough there isn't a need to reserve a table, but after 6:00, the place fills up quickly, this was a Thursday night.
I ordered the fried tomato, mozzarella & basil app, my wife the Caesar salad. Both were tasty. As we were sitting and enjoying the sights and smells, we were able to see all the dishes that were coming out of the kitchen. It an open air environment that my back was to, but my wife enjoyed watching. I could see the occasion fire blaze reflection on the opposing wall. A very warming experience.
Soon after our dinner arrived, I had the scallops, my bride, the cod. Both skillfully handcrafted with an array of flavors.
We ended the meal with the chocolate trifle. A great place to enjoy a meal. The one drawback and it's really not that big a deal, it the lighting can be a bit challenging on the other perimeter tables when viewing the menus, however, our server, Kim, was very helpful with her knowledge of the food, answered all our questions, and made great recommendations.
Peace all,

This place has a litltle bit of everything. Always great coffee, chocolates, and conversation...and a yard sale corner with eclectic merchandise at very reasonable prices.
