Who would have expected high quality, farm fresh, healthy dining in a town the size of Amery? Try it out, you'll like it.

They don't have much of a selection and this little coffee shop/ice cream parlor may make outsiders welcome, but as for residents, if you're not part of the Amery "clique" that owns this, you might as well go somewhere else if you want friendliness.

We stopped in to Amery Family Restaurant on a Sunday morning on our way home from Hayward Wisconsin. For $7, I got two eggs, a big serving of hashbrowns, corned beef hash and toast. I have a big appetite and I was stufffed. The hashbrowns had a great crisp on the outside and were very flavorful. All 4 people in our party enjoyed their meals, especially the pancakes.
The only downside was that our server wasn't very friendly. When she first came to our table I thought she was just taking our drink order, but she said, "if I don't take your whole order now it might be a while because we're really busy". If she had said this with a smile or a laugh, I wouldn't have thought anything of it. The people busing the tables and others we interacted with were very friendly.

If you are driving through via Hwy 8; check out this coffee shop. Greg is the real deal in service and knows the area well. He prepares great coffee. The menu is limited;
If you are a Starbuck type of coffee drinking; this might not be for you
You stop here to have a chat with locals and spend some money with a small local coffee shop owner that runs everything for you.
I like my ham/cheese sandwich and great coffee but overall is the local connection and the authenticity of the place
Usually open on Saturdays - not sure if ONLY on Saturdays

I used to frequent this DQ, and it was great! One of the best around. Now, it's under new ownership, and it needs improving. We stopped during what I believe was their first weekend open, and it was horrible. They seriously need to train their employees. We had a blizzard (only the top half had mix and the cup wasn't full) and a dipped cone (maybe an inch of ice cream on the cone). I watched them make 3 of my cones because she continued to mess it up and each time she had to show everyone and laugh hysterically. What a waste and a mess. We'll stick with other DQs until this place figures out what they're doing.

We stopped at this little bar and grill on the way home from the Wisconsin Dells. After reading trip advisor reviews of restaurants near Amery, we decided on Wanderoos, and weren't disappointed. It's in the middle of nowhere in an old school house, but the Google map got us there just fine. It's not a fancy place, but our waitress was very friendly and service is fast. We were there on a Friday at 6, and the special was fish fry, which my husband had. I had the broasted chicken. Both were delicious, crispy and not greasy. It's not health food, but we were still on vacation and decided to indulge our cravings for fried food. Go there, you'll be glad you did!

Come and enjoy a delicious home cooked meal with your family. Take time to sit back and relax in our old fashioned atmosphere. We have a full menu with a variety of delicious choices.Our burgers are to die for and our pie keeps people coming back for more.In the summer months cool off with a glass of our fresh squeezed lemonade or an old fashioned malt. Fun for all!
Stopped for lunch on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Had burgers, club house sub & chicken sandwiches. Wish we'd split so we'd have had room for pie. We'll know better next time! Next time we'll be coming for breakfast. The food was delicious, came out quickly & hot. Nice parking even for an RV. Small petting area of animals. Nice little store. The pies look like prize winners.

Great restaurant. Great owners!! The food is always good and the atmosphere is awesome. The new owners, Nancy and Gary did a great job of remodeling the bar and they are fabulous hosts.
Very impressed. For being a bar the food was actually restaurant quality! Wait staff very helpful and friendly service. We have come back several times since our first visit and we get the same good service and great food. A+ in my book!

Who’d a thunk you could actually order a wild-caught, blackened salmon sandwich from a dive pizzeria in the middle of a small vacation town in Wisconsin? Try to make heads or tails of that! I was extremely impressed with my salmon, which was cooked to spicy perfection, and which was so large that I could have split it into two meals. I make no apologies--I ate it all at once, and I didn’t even feel “gillty”. While the interior of the restaurant could use a face-lift, it is large enough to seat you, your family, and all of your lake neighbors. Maybe even all of your lake’s neighbor-lake’s neighbors as well. Next time I will try the pizza!

We went to have a nice dinner on a saturday night...the place was crazy busy with twenty/thirty something lake people....walk in the door and the sound was horrific. Screaming, yelling, party bar! People out on the deck chasing each other around...if you're looking for a good place to party hearty, this is it. Not so good for dinner!
