To and from the reservoir or hiking Mt. St. Helens, RJ's is a perfect stop-off for an espresso or huge scoops of Umpqua ice-cream. Thanks for the friendly and kind service.

There is nothing about this place that is fancy. The building is old. There's not much in decoration or theme but after all, this is Amboy. Thus, I'm certainly not rating the property. This is all about the servers and the food.
We've eaten here numerous times over the last few years. It just happens to be in an area we stay during the summer months and there aren't a lot of choices. However, we would still pick Nick's if there were more. The servers are always friendly. They are super efficient and the food has never disappointed us.
This time it was the shrimp salad for me. This salad is loaded with shrimp but their fish'n chips is also something I love. My husband had a taco salad and it was also very good.
We know we'll be back a few more times this summer before we head south for the winter. Great place!

My good friend chose this restaurant for her birthday lunch. We live about 13 miles away and I had never eaten there. Everything was perfect! It's always a treat when there are so many items on the menu you can't decide what to order. 2 of us decided on the reuben and the birthday girl ordered the chicken pesto sandwich. We all ordered different sides, but I have to say the red slaw was out of this world! The 3 of us gave thumbs up on lunch; perfectly cooked and presented. The birthday girl was comped dessert and she decided on the croissant bread pudding with caramel sauce...out of this world. Jan made sure we all had forks and fresh napkins to enjoy the treat. Thanks Fargher Lakehouse for a special lunch. I WILL be back!!

The casual, Northwest rustic atmosphere is enhanced by a 10-foot working water wheel, fed by a flume that comes down from the roof located at the center of the restaurant. The Mill Creek Pub located in the Battle Ground Center is ideal for reunions, meetings and events. We offer brunch Saturday and Sunday 9:00 to noon. Catering and a private meeting room are both available.
Last minute decision to have dine here for dinner. While the wait was about 15 minutes for us to be seated we were surprised to see the selections on the menu. A diverse selection of healthy food. The service was very kind and good. The food, very good. Cannot day much for the desert. Looking forward to another visit.

This is actually a general store and a diner. It's off the beaten path unless you're taking highway 503 through the little town of Amboy towards Cougar, WA and towards Mount St. Helen's. It's a place that mainly serves locals including hunters and campers.
The little restaurant is snuggled in the back of the General Store. The actual name of the "diner" is either Grandma's Kitchen (as on the sign) or Gramma's as on the menu. We weren't quite sure. Not only the name was a little confusing but so was the service for first timers.
At first we weren't sure whether to order from the counter but then discovered menus on all the tables and a waitress. We sat down, figured out our order and was ready by the time the waitress stopped at our table. It was breakfast time and coffee is always number one on my list of items to order in the morning. I never got the coffee. We only realized after we were finished that drinks are normally self-served ... but my husband was served hot chocolate.
Waitress indicated she was new -- had only been there a week -- but didn't seem to know much about items on the menu or how they are cooked.
Then, there's the food. This should be rated by itself. The plates were so full that we could have split the breakfast and still walked out very full. We had no complaints on the food related to the cook ... only to the waitress. The food was very good and very nicely priced.
My rating of 4 stars is 5 for the food and 3 for the waitress (probably should be a 2 for the waitress). Because the food was good, we will definitely try this place again when we return next summer.

Went for early dinner with friends after an afternoon drive. Our party of four ordered the elk burger, meat loaf, and salmon dinner. All were excellent as was the service. Food was prepared very well and presented nicely. Some of the best we've eaten. Although located a little off the beaten path, this is truly a special place. Clean and modern, it has a well appointed dining room and a nice bar with a great selection of beer, wine and spirits. Highly recommended.

OK if you are into Faux Funky uncomfortable seating , slow service, pretend hip servers who think they are really cool and let you know it ,and mediocre food then this is the place for you. My point is that you can do much better as there are brew pubs in the area that really serve good food for about the same price. Not really sure what they are aiming for but as a restaurant they miss the mark.

We hang around this area during the summer. In years past we had visited this restaurant many times. I know the cooks and servers have changed over the years but not sure if the owner has. One thing for sure is the interior definitely needs a fix-up. The walls appeared freshly painted on this visit but the booth seats are still worn and torn. We felt the carpet was worn and dirty.
There are two parts to this restaurant -- the bar and the restaurant. The server seemed to serve both sides. No one else was sitting in the restaurant but us. It took quite a while for the server to stop at our table. Then, it took another long while for her to return with our drinks. In the meantime, our silverware was dirty and trash from a previous patron was under the table.
My husband ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and the lentil soup. He felt the grilled cheese would be safe. He didn't eat the soup. I ordered the french dip. The bread was fresh but the meat had a dark edge on the outside, no taste and tough for thin sliced beef. The french fries were very good.
We won't be back this year but will probably try it again in 2017 just to see if it improves.
I gave it a 2-star but in my opinion it probably is over rated at that.

How nice that it worked out we arrived to find an all day happy hour. Sunday is your day!
Started at 4 pm. Good selection of items. Tried a green salad, nice serving and good.
The french dip was tasty too-came with swiss cheese and steak fries. Yum.
The wings were great. Got a side of Franks and also BBQ sauce, and ranch and blue cheese for dipping. Got more of them than I would have expected. Try them, them!
Drinks are healthy--beer is cold, what more could you want.
Server was really nice, service was fast, prices good. Fun drive to the country to get here.

This wonderful little cafe offers breakfast and lunch that are just plain good! You get tons of food, even on the senior menu. Everything on the menu is good and reasonably priced. The hardest thing about this place is finding a place to park. They are very popular and lunch time is usually busy.
