Alexandria is a city and the county seat of Douglas County, Minnesota. First settled in 1858, it was named after brothers Alexander and William Kinkead from Maryland. The form of the name alludes to Alexandria, Egypt, a center of learning and civilization.

We love Roers and go there often. Excellent donuts, coffee cakes, cinnamon raisin bread, brownies, crispies, you name it. Including the most decadent "breakfast" treat, which I can't remember the name of but it's basically a donut filled with frosting. The nice ladies who run the bakery will go out of their way to help with special orders too.

Their coffee is extremely strong! My Husband had a cold coffee he couldn't even drink and he likes strong coffee. We prefer Starbucks!

Stopped for lunch twice while on a long weekend to Alexandria. I love their soups and went with the caramelized onion which was pretty good but not remarkable and had me wishing I'd ordered their daily tomato basil. Also had half a dilled egg salad...MoreWe love repeat customer reviews! Thank you for sharing your experience and we are glad you enjoyed both of your long-weekend dining opportunities at LA FERME! We would sure love to see you for dinner sometime soon, too!

Featuring woodfired rotisserie cooking, Doolittles Woodfire Grill is an experience that delights all of your senses! The woodfired rotisserie grills meat over an open flame for a savory wood roasted flavor. The rotation of the rotisserie creates self basting and slow roasting skewers resulting in juicy and succulent meats such as Spit-Roasted Chicken, and Smoked Hanger Steak with Horseradish-Whipped Potatoes and Red Wine Reduction. Doolittles boasts over 60 wines by the bottle and 30 selections by the glass. Gluten Free & Vegetarian menus available. Warm, relaxing atmosphere...come as you are!
Stopped at Doolittles for supper. We were seated immediately and Rachel our waitress was there promptly. Our drinks were brought over quickly and so we're the great onion rings. My wife had the walleye sandwich and I had a French dip. They were both hot and very tasty. We will be back again when we are in the area.

Tucked amongst the charming main street of Alexandria, is the Sugar Shack - a one stop shop for all things SWEET! They have cookies, chocolates, hand dipped ice cream, bulk candy (popular candy and hard to find candy). There's a few tables/chairs to enjoy your treats or take it on the go and check out the rest of the downtown!

These are delicious and it's huge! I don't know if we were there on a "special" day or not but we were surprised by how good it was, how large it was (we shared with 3 people but it could it been more) and how reasonable the price was! Love the fried wonton base. Lip your lips good! We had the chicken nachos as well..........they were okay. I wouldn't have them again.

The place is great because it is 39 beers on tap or least that's what they advertise 39 different beers. That mysterious quaint everything else is good. You will like this place if you stop in the people are Ginuwine courteous and I seem to be in a good mood. Great place to stop

Was staying at a near-by resort and stopped in for dinner. Fajitas were excellent. Good drink specials. Server was a little impatient, but we brushed it off as we were on vacay!Thank you Jesse. We are glad you enjoyed our restaurant. We hope you had a great vacation.

In a resort town with many other (better) choices, this longtime restaurant has its loyal followers. It's probably because it's so familiar. The same restaurant in the same location (for decades) serving up the same old food. Today's breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash browns, toast and corned been was just OK. The server was unfriendly and the coffee was weak. No reason to go back.
