Alameda (/ˌæləˈmiːdə/ AL-ə-MEE-də; Spanish: [ala'meða]) is a city in Alameda County, California, United States. It is located on Alameda Island and Bay Farm Island, and is adjacent to and south of Oakland and east of San Francisco across the San Francisco Bay. Bay Farm Island, a portion of which is also known as "Harbor Bay Isle", is not actually an island, and is part of the mainland adjacent to the Oakland International Airport. The city's estimated 2017 population was 79,928. Alameda is a charter city, rather than a general law city, allowing the city to provide for any form of government. Alameda became a charter city and adopted a council–manager government in 1916, which it retains to the present.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would!!! First of all the food is simply amazing. Proper Napoli style pizza. But more importantly the vibe here is so great because the staff is fantastic and the owner is really an extraordinary person and a huge talent. There is some sort of fairy dust at work here. If we lived here this would be our local hang out.

Tried the tea leaf salad and rainbow salad which were both unique and extra flavorful and fresh. Calamari and shrimp appetizers were the best appetizers ordered for the table. Samosas were ok but nothing special. Chicken basil, coconut rice and broccoli was delicious. Sesame beef and coconut soup was ok. Overall great restaurant with amazing flavorful dishes. A must try if in the area.

We stumbled upon Asena on inadvertently. The restaurant we intended to go to was closed when we got there. So we walked around and came upon Asena. We're glad we did -- our dinner was delicious and service was good. A solid choice.

We've been here several times for dinner - the food is consistently good, and we've been able to get vegetarian dishes too. Service can be a little slower when the weather's great and the restaurant gets really busy. However, beers and beverages and the delicious bread can tide you over during any wait. They are listed on OpenTable, so you can make reservations. Looking forward to ordering potato pancakes on a future visit!

Price was around 120 for 2 with drinks.
They seated us without reservation though it felt like we were lucky.
Situated in oakland close to the Plank bowling/arcade/restaurant. A couple of times an hour a train passes through. It adds to the experience and is not as loud as expected.
Staff was very friendly.
Food was delicious. Fresh fish, well prepared, well cooked, well roasted. Everything was positive about this experience. The wine was good.
Perhaps the tempura could be fried better next time.
Would come here again.

Too many choices all of them good. Loved the desserts of course and also the pot stickers. If you are not familiar with this. Fare you should go with someone who is.

I cannot testify to the park st. venue, BUT the bay farm island is EXCELLENT...our son worked there briefly and it became our ABSOLUTE FAVORITE place to go for extraordinary mexican food....fabulous presentation, fast and friendly service...not another squashed beans and rice place. LOVE shredded beef tacos....now live in TX and NOBODY DOES shredded beef here..just hamburger...YUCK. LA PENCA AZUL is still the best we have ever had.

This local institution is an absolute classic. Especially if you were a city kid, you will recognize - the counter, the booths, the counter folks and waitresses, the cooks. It is like a time travel machine.
And, the food hasn't changed either - well it might cost a little more.
A good place to eat.

Cafe Jolie at daytime appears to be just like any ordinary diner serving breakfasts and lunches. Then at dinnertime...Viola...the cafe transformed to a fairylike quaint petite Parisienne bistro with a Jazz duo. The delicieusement manne francaise.....cilantro shrimp salad, french onion soup, escagot, seasonal tartine, pork belly, steak & frites, mussels, creme brulee....all melt and disappeared in our mouths, C'EST BON!!!!!!! Our friendly garcon, Thomas, and other staffs provided us with the warmest and excellent services throughout the entire formidable repast. CAFE JOLIE, AU REVOIR, SIMPLY MAGNIFIQUE!!!!!

Came in for a truly fantastic brunch on the morning of my birthday (10/30) during my first visit to Oakland. I was pleasantly surprised by the cozy atmosphere and welcoming staff. The restaurant was all decked out with great Halloween decorations and the staff wore cute costumes.
The food was terrific. I would eat here for brunch every weekend if I could. I also loved the brunch cocktail with rose & hibiscus (can't remember the name of it) -- it's a 'must-try' item!
