It was our first night in North Vancouver. We went looking for Whole Foods, but we decided to grab a bite to eat before shopping. The Taphouse caught our eyes, because it was in a building shaped like a lighthouse. We had the âCalamariâ appetizer. It was crunchy and spicy. The flavor reminded us of âsalt and pepper shrimp.â It was delicious. My husband had the âSierra Saladâ and I had the âBaja Fish Tacos.â The Sierra Salad had lemon herb chicken breast, avocado, organic greens, shaved fennel, radishes, Galla apples, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, Feta cheese, and apple cider vinaigrette. It was light, tasty, and delicious! The Baja Tacos came with three tacos. Beer-battered cod, with fire roasted salsa, Chipotle Aioli, cabbage, and pickled red onions served on flour tortillas. Everything was delicious; except the tortillas. It was a bit hard. Our Server was friendly. The overall service was good. Unlike their American counterparts, there was good spacing between the appetizer and the entrees. This place is so wonderful, bright, spacious, clean, well-kept and has such magnificent servers that I am actually sad that I have to complain about a chicken taco salad that was a massive disappointment.Right from the bag bitter greens (bitter greens in a Mexican salad... say what?) with a ridiculously overcooked dry small chunk of chicken, and raw yellow pepper dices with two, count them, two tortilla chips. This is supposed to be a $15 chicken taco salad? I'm going to stop now as I really don't want to insult the "chef" any longer.

The Keg has always been dependable for a great steak at a great price. My favourite is the rib eye cooked medium rare Chicago style (charred). Iâve just discovered the Steak Frites in the casual menu (is this new?) which is great when you want a smaller portion. This location is good for business lunches and family dinners. There are good options on seating, with dining room, lounge and awesome patio. There is always a higher dinner rush so try a book ahead with OpenTable - they donât take reservations for more than 6 so booking a group dinner is a challenge unless you split your tables.

Our family was at the Vancouver Pinnacle Marriott for a pre-cruise rest and reunion with everyone coming in from all over the country. We arranged our reunion dinner downstairs at the Showcase Restaurant because it made everything so easy. Manager Constantine was excellent! He knew what details to cover to keep the flow of the group dynamics going smoothly. His knowledge of the dishes and drinks that complimented them was spot on. He directed his staff skillfully and discretely. We all felt like VIPs! Very impressed! Servers Chris and Tanya were wonderful and so efficient. They knew the menu and were able to make great suggestions as to how we could get to taste many different items while keeping costs down. The food was outstanding! Kudos to the chef and kitchen staff! The blending of the different spices and creative use of ingredients delighted us. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, hot dishes were hot and cold dishes were cold, surprising mixes of sweet, salty, and sour. So good! Everyone was talking about the food! This restaurant exceeded all our expectations!
