I have to raise my rating. It just keeps getting better. The regular menu is quite good and they have a chalkboard they update with new specials on a regular basis. Right now there is a salmon and spinach pizza that is to die for. Verica and her family are very sweet and speak a number of languages. I'll cry when I move away in a couple of years.

Speisekneipe Servus

The restaurant Servus is the only one in town for "Fränkisch" food and beer. Franken is part of Bavaria and the area is known for its beer as well. The menu is typical German with schnitzel, steaks, etc. but also has great pizzas and salads. All is homemade and fresh. They usually have 5 different Fränkisch beers on tap.

Cafe Extrablatt

A nice outdoor cafe with a indoor option too. Very cosy to sit outside the church on the cobblestones and watch the world go by. Menu is pretty diverse, and actually comprised of several different menu books listing separate types of food. Had a Italian veggie wrap one night and an excellent vegetarian schnitzel another night. It was the best meal I had in Germany...Yes, I know it was Veggie but I think one would eb hard pressed to tell the difference! It was delicious!Staff was friendly and efficient and one can pay with a credit card.Had two dinners here with friends and enjoyed them both each time. Sitting outside is very weather dependent of course, but on a nice summer evening this is a great place with lots of choices and moderate price.

Snug Irish Pub

Reviewed By Heist79

Typically, whenever I walk into a pub that claims to be Irish, there's a few things they all have in common. Green decor, green lights, randomly placed shamrocks, and an Irish flag hanging up somewhere behind the bar. These are not Irish pubs. They're merely part of a long list of bars that try to capitalize on peoples' preference to patron an Irish pub over another type of drinking establishment. A real Irish pub should feel like home when you enter the door, as complete strangers and friends alike welcome you with genuine smiles. Once inside an Irish pub, you'll notice that it's generally a tight and cozy place, sparsely decorated with rustic items. When you sit down at the bar, you should expect a bartender that's willing to give you their undivided attention, even if you'd like them to walk you through the slight differences of their various spirits, namely whiskies. And when you finally leave an Irish pub, you should be leaving in a better mood, and not just from the beers. So, where can we find a warm place like this in the local commuting area? Well all you have to do is find Steinstrasse 19, in Kaiserslautern. Of all the pubs I've visited in Germany over the past 15 years, The Snug hits the proverbial spot. Lisa, the owner of the pub, painstakingly took her time to create the perfect atmosphere. With the detailed interior design, music selection, and friendly staff; you'll feel right at home as everything I mentioned above actually exists at The Snug. The Snug is a completely unique and comfortable place with various types of seating areas, it's decorated with authentic rustic items, it's powered by a great ensemble of staff members, and the strangers you meet there are more than likely to become friends of yours in a short amount of time. As for the menu, it doesn't just stop at the beers and cider that are on tap, or the myriad of spirits. There's plenty of different drinks for both men and women. And with the staff that Lisa has chosen, your cocktails and special shots will taste delicious each and every time. Aside from the welcoming atmosphere, there's a plethora of events that will keep you entertained. There's live music weekly, free of charge. There's a karaoke night for those brave enough to let it out for all to hear. There's quiz night, where after a few rounds of questions your team runs the chance to win prizes. Then there's open-mic nights, where a person can not only sing with a live band playing the music, but they could also play one of the instruments as well, with the rest of the band. Then on the more laid-back days and nights, a few flat-screens and a projector will showcase soccer, darts, and/or American football. Whether you stop in to wind down, sing songs, catch a game, or have a conversation; you'll be happy that you chose this gem to spend your time. The Snug Irish Pub was created out of appreciation for the Irish culture, and it'll show every single time you'll walk through that red front door.
