This restaurant is located in the picturesque downtown area of Trinidad, CO. The restaurant is modern style and attractively decorated. We had dinner, hamburgers, at the bar. The meals were hot and delicious. We enjoyed the marvelous selection of local craft beers, too. The service was friendly and spot on (Sarah). It was a very enjoyable evening.

This locations is located inside the La Quinta Inn...The were closed despite the signage that states they close at 10pm... They need to update their sign and online info. Also, it's pricey, I saw the menu: $12.95 for a personal pan pizza... ummmm... no thank you!

So, to start off with, we're big brewery and pub people. We like places with a wide variety of draft beers, an interesting atmosphere and simple but good food. Well, there's just not much of that sort of thing in Trinidad. The Purple Toad seemed to be the closest to what we were looking for on our overnight stay in Trinidad. The Toad is located in a warehousy building near the Interstate. Itâs open with several rooms with tables scattered about and an outside patio. Off to one side is a bar with stools. Our server was pleasant. Service was adequate by not engaging nor overly attentive. They weren't busy so I would have hoped for prompter service. But was fine.Their beer selection wasn't as broad as I would have anticipated. And the server didn't know if they had chardonnay or not. This could use some improvement. My wife and I shared their fish and chips and got a side salad to augment it. The salad was quite good with varied greens on a large plate. Enough to share. The fish was good. Three pieces. Nicely breaded and fried. The fries (chips) were crisp and tasty. A nice dinner.Might want to search deeper next time for someplace with more interest.
Small town feel with great BBQ, friendly service and equipped with a full bar and patio. Great for kids, back yard horse shoe pits, a stage for live music.
We are two senior couples traveling in Colorado to see fall foliage. When looking for a restaurant in Trinidad, it seemed all of our original choices were closed (Tuesday). We settled on the Trinidad Smokehouse because it was open. Lucky for us because the food was great. The service matched the food. Three of us decided on the cod. Though the cod was cooked in oil, there was not a hint of oil in the finished product. The sweet potato fries were also very good. All in all, very good food at a reasonable price.
Where to eat Grill food in Trinidad: The Best Restaurants and Bars
We looked all over town for a place that had potential for a good lunch and was local and not a chain. This looked the best. My food (a brat) was undercooked and I sent it back because you can't eat raw pork! Food was overpriced for what we got as well. We liked the ambiance and the staff were friendly, just weren't impressed by the food.
