This was a fun place to go with our local friends. Ended up meeting other locals associated with the Erie PA area. Abby was a friendly and pleasant bartender that took good care of her customers. Nice place to start the evening before a crab boil.

Stopped in at Hulas around 8 for dinner, the cheese burger was top notch! Not much going but the bartenders told me it would pick up around 11pm, so I went home and got some friends and we went back later to check it out- it was packed! Great dance music, super friendly crowd, and great drink specials! I will definitely be back!

Clean, well decorated bar and restaurant. Upscale atmosphere, moderate prices, so IMO a good value. Walls have 4 big screen TVs on each wall, so you can view 4 different sports events from either side of the room, if somehow something on the Jumbo TV over the bar loses your attention. My impression is it would be a great place to watch the Olympics. The gastrointestinal part of gastroPub focuses on food cooked properly, and presented with a flair. Tonight I tried the lamb chops, see below. If you want side dishes, order a la ca r t e .The chops came with a mild sauce on the side. Good taste. Desert was new to me, Bourbon pecan pie, which was a nice treat. Wait staff very pleasant, and hustled as there was a steady increase in clients at dinner time. Even in the off season, as this was close to Christmas 2018. Good solid eating choice, in a city with quite a few really good restaurants.

This was our favorite place this week. The service was fantastic and the food was outstanding ! We had the low country boil, oysters, and steamed shrimp. Best fried oysters! The shrimp were huge and excellent. They do have a special each night. It's a small place, so it will be loud.

We tried two other restaurants first but werenât willing to wait 1.5 to 2 hours. On the recommendation of a friend, we tried Gallagherâs. Let me begin by saying our opinion of Gallagherâs was framed by our experience at the front door. The man at the door, who was taking names and directing the hostesses to seat parties (his name is Peter) was perhaps the most rude person we encountered while at Surf City. We were told he was the new manager! We witnessed him yell at one woman who was trying to get in the door but was delayed by the crowd. He told her to close the door because he wasnât cooling the entire beach. Very classless. This made use pay closer attention to his behavior, and we witnessed this same unnecessary behavior extended to the hostesses and female wait staff. The bartenders were left alone. The manager should have been paying attention to what was happening, or not happening, in the kitchen. We waited close to an hour for our food, and had decided to simply pay for our drink and appetizer and leave when our food arrived. Our waitress, Kara, was excellent. She anticipated our every need, hassled the kitchen to get our food moving, and was very apologetic for the delay. The manager apologized to no one. It would have made up for a lot had the food been great, but it was just okay. Two examples: The tuna was way over cooked and tough. It is difficult to mess up tuna this bad. Fish and chips should be an âeasy Aâ for any seaside restaurant, but this one arrived cold. As long as we had to wait, we were not going to roll the dice by sending the food back. On a positive note, the drinks from the bar were quite good and the bathrooms were clean. The manager tried to make up for his earlier behavior by wishing us a good night and saying âSee you again soonâ. However, nothing short of him actually asking us about our experience and offering a bit of an apology would have made any difference. We wonât ever return and recommend you bypass this place as well.
