Reviews on Pub food in South Padre Island, Texas, United States. Right off the southern tip of Texas is the sunny, subtropical paradise of South Padre Island. This barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico offers a year-round getaway from the daily grind. Gaze at a magnificent sunset from the flats, laze on the white sandy shoreline, get active with water sports galore, or go fishing and cook your catch. Either you know what Megatouch is, or you don't. If you do, you may be like me and seek it out when you travel. Coral Reef has Megatouch and it is awesome!Besides Megatouch, Coral Reef is also worth seeking out because it is a great no-frills dive bar.Kevin the afternoon bartender is great. It allows smoking and the place smells like an ashtray, so be prepared.
Only been once, so am reluctant to call it âpoor,â but the food was really not good, at least on this visit. Service was what saved our experience, as our waitperson was great. I donât go to a pub grub place expecting a culinary epiphany, but you can do better, and should. Maybe the kitchen was having an off night?

The food was pretty good and the beer cold...I liked the beer of the month was a great deal...the Salisbury steak special was a great value for the price...It was very hot today and it was a nice break.

Thought we'd try Harry's since we've been driving past it for months. It's a nice simple bar that serves bottled beer and basic liquor drinks (no margaritas, pina colatas, etc.). The friendly owner is the only employee. Prices are simple, $3 & $4 for beer, and $5 for liquor drinks.

We were a large group and going by reviews we wanted to eat at Claytons next door but a couple of us had to eat at Lookout due to dietary restrictions. Turned out we got lucky. Almost everyone who ate at Claytons was unhappy with their food we liked ours a lot.

My husband and I have visited here for the past 3 years and always had a great time. Another couple (friends of our) it is the first time for them on island. We all were meeting there. We arrived first and I got us a table on the deck in the sun while he went to the bar, I waited and waited and about 10 minutes later he finally was able to get us a drink? Then our friends arrive and we waited and waited, she told them they had to wait while she stocked the coolers and ice. They said had we not been there they would have walked out! And he use to own several bars. If your not selling drinks you won't be in business long. Very disappointed in our visit.

We were on a motor coach (bus) tour from the Chicago / Wisconsin area visiting sights in South Padre Island. I looked on Trip Advisor and noted that Kelly's Irish Pub was noted for their Rueben Sandwiches. The couple we were traveling with really like Ruebens so I suggested we give Kelley's a try. Since we didn't have our own transportation and were staying at a resort on the far South end of the Island we opted to take a cab to Kelly's. I'll admit that the outside appearance is not modern nor inviting but I've had good experiences regardless of appearance. I wasn't disappointed. They have an extensive menu. I was surprised to see Scottish Eggs on the appetizer menu so I had to order a plate to share. They were very good. Our friends enjoyed their Rueben Sandwiches, my wife enjoyed her Shepherds Pie and I enjoyed my tacos. They only have a bartender and a waiter so the waiter is pulled pretty thin trying to keep up with the service. If you like good food served in a unpretentious setting you'd enjoy Kelly's

"The gastropub movement is well-represented on South Padre Island at Padre Island Brewing Company. Rotating draft selections include several styles of handcrafted suds; Texas Long Board Lager, Tailing Red Amber, and Speckled Trout Stout are among my favor
I was seriously surprised when Padre Island Brewing Co. turned out to be our favorite meal during our stay. Besides the beer being delicious and unique, the food offerings are diverse and reasonably priced. My husband had fish tacos and I had a farmers market salad, and we shared some guacamole-stuffed onion rings (say what!?). All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. And, the prices are very reasonable. We brought our baby and they were happy to accommodate her. Such a win!
