Traditional local pub, quality cask ales, selection of draft ciders and bottled beers. Also serving traditional Sunday roast with a selection of 4 meats to choose from. Friday night is our steak night, 2 quality steaks and a bottle of wine for only £28.00
This pub is basically a drinking pub but with activities on throughout the months ( music, quizzes etc) Its has an excellent pool table and 2 dart boards, sport in both bars on the tv, the staff will put whatever channel you want to watch on as long as there isnt an audience already, the locals are friendly, the staff are also very friendly, possibly the best staff in somerton!Thank you very much for your feedback, we really appreciate that you thought our staff are friendly as this is something we always try to ensure.

The Lime Kiln is a traditional 17th century freehouse situated in the village of Knole in Somerset. You can expect a wealth of home cooked food and real ales in a pub full of character and charm. The Lime Kiln has been fully restored to its original glory

Countryside pub situated in a lovely village, offering beautiful homemade food and real ales, Casque Marquee awarded and a well stocked bar. Very welcoming, relaxed and friendly atmosphere!
Very hot day, we were greeted by the very friendly landlord and landlady. We only wanted small meals as on our bikes. We could not have had a warmer welcome, and the chef was so accommodating and cheerful. The food is simply delicious, with a good selection of beer and cider, and very well kept bar. If your in the area go visit, you wonât be disappointed. It was very nice meeting you and we are very happy you enjoyed your time with us and the food! Looking forward to seeing you again soon!

We've had several meals here in recent months. Local to the area we find this little gem has good food options (especially for a little country pub) and the landlords do their best accommodate any special requests. Hosts Becky and Simon are warm hearted and welcoming with GSOH. Plates are piled high with freshly cooked to order food which has to date always been faultless. The building itself is low ceilinged, cosy and charming. Well behaved dogs are welcomed. There is a large field at the rear of the property with stunning views and a small pub garden with tables and benches at the front. Ample parking. Great to visit in the warmer months but equally when colder too when the wood burner is roaring away in the very cosy bar. Well done Becky and Simon, we love it/you and will continue to frequent this favourite little charmer.

On our recent trip to St Ives we decided to break up our journey and stayed at the Devonshire arms . What a fantastic establishment with fantastic food, excellent drink choices and friendly service. This I believe is a family run establishment and it shows , with its level of service. Weâll definitely visit again and would recommend it to anyone, in that part of Britain

Good honest Somerset country Pub with good home made food , Beef , mushroom and red wine Pie last Sunday for instance,.Good Value hearty portions and smaller portions for those who want it. Good neighbourly crowd of regular customers who make visitors see
Why have an eating table next to the front door? In fact why have eating table in a noisy front bar? We were buffeted from behind by over exuberant people whilst eating our meal & had to shout over the noise to have a conversation. The food was ok, itâs a plain menu which I would think has not changed for many years. The staff were friendly & efficient. All this being said I have attended a couple of parties in their back room & the buffet has been excellent

The kitchen team are in all day and producing snacks as well as 3 course meals. You can eat anywhere you like and there is a wide selection of hot food available throughout the day. Children are also very welcome and we do a small menu for them or can off
Dropped in this afternoon for lunch. Our party had roast beef which was cooked to perfection, and the pork belly was outstandingly good. Service first class, lovely atmosphere and really good value for money too. Thank you White Hart, we'll be back and will recommend to all.

We are a country pub that serves a great range of real ales and cooks country style home made mains and desserts. We are a pub that serves food. We serve at lunch 12 til 230 and evenings 1900 til 2130.
Wow, what a find! Fabulous old fashioned, small no frills proper spit n sawdust type of pub. Very rustic. Like stepping back in time, in a good way. Called in on a drizzly Friday lunchtime and took the last table which surprised us as it is a bit middle of nowhere but obviously has a good reputation which it deserves. Great selection of well priced beers and a big menu choice. Four of us had four very different kinds of meal and all were very hearty meals, home cooking style and very tasty all costing less than a tenner each. Excellent! The bread was gorgeous, huge doorsteps of local bread. We sat near the massive open fireplace which, as it was August, wasnât in use but can only imagine how cosy it must be here in the Autumn and Winter seasons. Wish we lived closer or that the pubs where we do live were more like this one. Well done Halfway House.

We are a real country pub in the heart of Somerset, situated at the crossroads of the A37 and A3153 in the village of Lydford-on- Fosse, between the small market towns of Castle Cary and Somerton. Give us a try and sample great real ale, good wine and foo
Well, first walked in to this pub. Was a lovely atmosphere and very friendly young girl servers us. We were eating here for my mums birthday meal. Once we got our drinks and had sat at our table we were shown the menu, had a good amount of time to decide what we wanted. We totally understand that they were extremely short staffed but we had never experienced anything like it. It was a very long wait for our main meal to come out. Once we had got it it was actually lovely. Then to have sat there for at LEAST 15 minutes before the woman took our plates, yet she walked past our table several of times where she could have taken at least one plate at a time. We were sat by the kitchen but itâs like we werenât there, she didnât even acknowledge us. Once she had finally collected the plates she asked us if we wanted desserts and because it was my mums birthday we would have loved a dessert. She kept walking past our table again but yet couldnât even drop off the menu!! We were waiting for nearly an hour just to see a dessert menu. In the end we were all so tired and fed up and quite frankly couldnât believe the service. We decided to leave the desserts and go. As we got up and weâre getting our things the women then came over and asked us if itâs too late for desserts... we couldnât believe it. But we refused them as we didnât want to wait any longer as it took them at least half an hour to do desserts on the table behind us! But what made us laugh was she was so quick to give us the bill!!! It was such a shame as the food was lovely and most of the staff were lovely... and like I said we totally understand they clearly had a staffing situation and It was the Monday after Glastonbury festival but it just ruined my mums birthday really. Such a shame. Compliments to the chef.I'm sorry to hear of your disappointment last Monday for your mum's birthday. We aim to deliver any meals to our guests within 20 minutes of ordering and as you describe, we failed on this occasion. Monday evenings are usually one of the quieter evenings in the week with 2 capable employees working the front of house, usually running this flawlessly with no problems. This was the Monday after Glastonbury and was more like a Friday or Saturday night here. This was a total oversight by me as I did not realise it would be so busy. I won't be making this mistake again. During my evening off, I bumped into the waitress who was clearly struggling by herself and was close to tears but was coping as well as she could under the demand of food orders. I helped out myself for a couple of hours to try and ease the workload which was clearly not manageable for one person on the floor.Although this does not take away your disappointment from the evening I hope this does not darken the Cross Keys too much in your eyes as we have proved to have excellent customer service serving great food with happy customers with excellent feedback. Our staff here work incredibly hard and have proven themselves daily with their skills and expertise.Again, I do apologise and I do hope to see you again for a more enjoyable experience here in the future. Thanks for the complimenting the food.Best Wishes and Happy Birthday to your mum, The Cross Keys team.

Stayed here overnight in a very comfortable room. Dinner in the pub was excellent - good choices on the menu, good wine list, food prepared and served superbly. Very helpful staff. Breakfast equally fine! A very convenient stop on the way to Devon or Cornwall, only a couple of miles off the A303.
