No swearing, no phones no tablets no problems. What there is is excellent hearty British cuisine that fills you up and doesnât empty your bank account. The pies are full of meat the gravy rich and tasty and the puddings top it all off. The staff are friendly and helpful and the harbour view nice. All in all no frills excellent and if you canât survive an hour or so without your mobile I pity you.

Whilst on holiday in Sandsend we were recommended by friends to try the Hart Inn for a meal. We did so but sadly we were let down by the very poor quality of the meal. Initially we ordered a Hendricks and ginger ale and a pint of beer. This arrived promptly but what we assumed was the Hendricks turned out to be just a glass of ginger ale. As no staff were available I had to take the glass downstairs to the bar to complain. The bar staff agreed immediately that it had no gin and proceeded to tip the glass of ginger ale into another glass and added a shot of gin. We both ordered the surf and turf which comprised half a lobster and a rib-eye steak. Whilst the lobster was fine the steak was extremely fatty and chewy. The plates were cold and consequently the dish was very quickly cold too. At no time during the meal were we approached by staff or ale to attract their attention regarding the meal. Eventually when a waitress appeared after we had finished the meal we showed her the pile of fat on each plate that had been left. She made no comment. We will not be back.

A pity that an otherwise enjoyable occasion was spoilt by a noisy (male) crowd whose loud voices drowned out everybody else's attempts at conversation . The ground floor restaurant may not have changed much since Dickens slept /ate here but the food if definitely twenty first century , where presentation is everything , but it does taste good too . Service is pleasant and efficient . The menfolk enjoyed their steak and I was happy with my unusual 'take' on mushroom risotto . Well worth the visit .

Great little pub. Received a very warm welcome and the food is outstanding and extremely reasonably priced. If we lived nearer, this would be our local without a doubt.

The Fox and Hounds has recently re-opened as a Country Pub. New owners want to re-establish the business as a family, dog and walker friendly establishment. Home cooked food and real ale is served in a village location with beautiful views from the beer g
Lovely food and good fun in the beer garden playing quoits. Service was very fast ordering 7 meals on Bank Holiday Monday. I had the Farmers Platter which had a generous portion of ham, pork pie, scotch egg, salad and 3 types of cheese. Timothy Landlord on tap too!

A traditional, two bar pub offering ensuite accommodation and cold served Yapas (Yorkshire Tapas). Complemented by cask ales, over 20 gins, 10 rums, craft beers, ciders and a selection of wine from around the world. Itâs a small pub with a big choice! We
The first time I went here I literally couldn't get in the door because it was so packed. My second attempt was much more successful. Small front bar, slightly larger back back. Decent ales on cask on the bar. Good atmosphere. Recommended.

Visited The Hart on a few occasions recently. Fabulous seafood menu, gluten free and veggie available, steaks and pub grub all at a very reasonable price.Would pick this little gem above any pub in the area for food, great service, dog friendly and amazing views across the bay.
